A convenient and mild synthesis of new 2-aryl-3-hydroxy-6,7-dihydro-1H-indol-4(5H)-ones via a one-pot,three-component reaction in water

A simple and convenient synthesis of 2-aryl-3-hydroxy-6,7-dihydro-1H-indol-4(5H)-ones is achieved in high yields via the one-pot, three-component reaction of arylglyoxals, 1,3-cyclohexanedione, and ammonium acetate in water under reflux conditions.

Mathematical modeling and numerical simulation of CO2 transport through hollow-fiber membranes

Chemical absorption of carbon dioxide was studied theoretically using hollow-fiber membrane contactors in this work. A 2D mathematical model was developed to study CO₂ transport through hollow-fiber membrane contactors. The model considers axial and radial diffusion in the membrane contactor. It also considers convection in the tube and shell side with chemical reaction. The finite element method (FEM) was used to solve the model equations. Modeling predictions were validated with the experimental data obtained from literature for CO₂ absorption in amine aqueous solutions as solvent. The modeling predictions were in good agreement with the experimental data for different values of gas and liquid velocities. The liquid solvents considered for this study include aqueous solutions of monoethanolamine (MEA), diethanolamine (DEA), N-methyldiethanolamine (MDEA), 2-amino-2-methyl-1-propanol (AMP) and potassium carbonate (K₂CO₃). The simulation results indicated that amine aqueous solutions were better than K₂CO₃ aqueous solution for CO₂ absorption. Also simulation results revealed that the removal of CO₂ with aqueous solution of MEA was the highest among the amines solvents. The hollow-fiber membrane contactors showed a great potential in the area of CO₂ absorption.

Dithiocarbamates as an Efficient Intermediate for the Synthesis of Symmetrical Substituted 2,5‐Diamino‐1,3,4‐thiadiazoles in Water

N-methylpyrrolidine as an effective organocatalyst for the regioselective synthesis of 3-hydroxy-3,5/6-di-aryl-1H-imidazo[1,2-a]imidazol-2(3H)-ones

N-Methylpyrrolidine catalyzed, concise and attractive synthesis of a new class of 3-hydroxy-3,5/6-di-aryl-1H-imidazo[1,2-a]imidazol-2(3H)-ones was attained with impressive yields, in the presence of EtOH as a solvent, by means of a convenient and elegant condensation reaction between different aryl glyoxal monohydrates and guanidine hydrochloride under reflux conditions. Some specific merits of the current procedure, including encompasses low operating cost, availability of the starting substrates, reasonable reaction times, high reaction yield, operational simplicity, cleaner reaction profile, no harmful by-products, and the isolated product is in pure form. Structures of all the freshly synthesized products have been deduced by their FT-IR, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, Mass spectrometry data and microanalysis.

A short and efficient method for the synthesis of pyrimido[1,2-<Emphasis Type="Italic">a</Emphasis>]quinolines

A new series of pyrimido[1,2-a]quinolines has been synthesized in good to excellent yields by rearrangement of N-quinolinylisoxazol-5(2H)-ones, substituted at nitrogen, with 2-chloroquinoline derivatives under mild base-catalyzed conditions. This method has the advantage of a short synthetic route.
