The reactions between H(2)dc3 and Co(acac)(3) have been studied in the presence and absence of base. In the presence of base, a complex with an intramolecular Co-C bond, Co(dc3-C-(8))(H(2)O), 1, is formed, presumably through heterolytic C-H bond activation. An X-ray crystallographic study demonstrates the presence of a Co-C bond and shows that the diazacyclooctane (daco) subunit adopts the chair-boat conformation with respect to the metal. The cobalt-carbon bond induces strain in the macrocycle as demonstrated by bond angles significantly deviating from tetrahedral. The (13)C NMR resonance of the carbon atom bound to cobalt (-10.5 ppm) suggests significant ionic character in the cobalt-carbon bond. However, we were unable to cleave this bond in the presence of strong acid. In the absence of base, the reaction of Co(acac)(3) with H(2)dc3 resulted in C-N cleavage of the ligand and the formation of a complex of dioxocyclam, Co(dc)(acac), 2. This complex has subsequently been prepared in high yield by the reaction of Co(acac)(3) with dioxocyclam. An X-ray crystallographic study demonstrates that dioxocyclam adopts the heretofore unreported cis configuration, having folded along a N-Co-N axis that is perpendicular to the Co-acac plane. 相似文献

5-(Pyren-1-yl)-2'-deoxyuridine (PydU) and 5-(Pyren-1-yl)-2'-deoxycytidine (PydC) were used as model nucleosides for DNA-mediated reductive electron transport (ET) in steady-state fluorescence and femtosecond time-resolved transient absorption spectroscopy studies. Excitation of the pyrene moiety in PydU and PydC leads to an intramolecular electron transfer that yields the pyrenyl radical cation and the corresponding pyrimidine radical anion (dU.- and dC.-. By comparing the excited state dynamics of PydC and PydU, we derived information about the energy difference between the two pyrimidine radical anion states. To determine the influence of protonation on the rates of photoinduced intramolecular ET, the spectroscopic investigations were performed in acetonitrile, MeCN, and in water at different pH values. The results show a significant difference in the basicity of the generated pyrimidine radical anions and imply an involvement of proton transfer during electron hopping in DNA. Our studies revealed that the radical anion dC.- is being protonated even in basic aqueous solution on a picosecond time scale (or faster). These results suggest that protonation of dC.- may also occur in DNA. In contrast, efficient ET in PydU could only be observed at low pH values (< 5). In conclusion, we propose--based on the free energy differences and the different basicities--that only dT.- but not dC.- can participate as an intermediate charge carrier for excess electron migration in DNA. 相似文献

Various types of sodium cellulose sulfate (SCS), dissolved in a 1M LiCl solution, were investigated by alternating current (AC)polarography. The SCS samples differed in the degree of substitution (DS), thedistribution of substituents within the anhydroglucose unit (AGU), and alongthechain, due to the method of synthesis. The goal was to study theelectrosorptionbehavior, characterized by the shape of the desorption wave in the polarogram,as a function of the chemical structure of the SCS samples. The shape of thedesorption wave reflects domains of different substitution. A superimpositionofparameters like DS and pattern of substitution on the electrosorption behaviorwas observed. The AC polarography method described can be used as a tool todistinguish between an even or uneven distribution of substituents along thecellulose chain. 相似文献

The protected ethidium nucleosides 8-(3′,5′-di-O-benzoyl-2′-deoxy-d-ribofuranosyl)-3-acetamido-5-ethyl-6-phenyl-phenanthridinium (5), 8-(3′,5′-di-O-acetyl-2′-deoxy-d-ribofuranosyl)-3-acetamido-5-ethyl-6-phenyl-phenanthridinium (6), and the acyclic analog 8-[(3R)-1,3-dihydroxy-4-yl]-acetamido-3-amino-5-ethyl-6-phenyl-phenanthridinium (3) were prepared. Based on to their different stability, only the acyclic derivative 3 seems to be suitable for oligonucleotide synthesis. Furthermore, the acyclic ethidium nucleoside analog 3 exhibits comparable absorption and emission properties of the underivatized ethidium (1). 相似文献

A new DNA assay has been designed, prepared and applied for the chemical investigation of reductive electron transfer through the DNA. It consists of 5-(10-methyl-phenothiazin-3-yl)-2'-deoxyuridine (Ptz-dU, 1) as the photoexcitable electron injector and 5-bromo-2'-deoxyuridine (Br-dU) as the electron trap. The Ptz-dU-modified oligonucleotides were synthesised by means of a Suzuki-Miyaura cross-coupling protocol and subsequent automated phosphoramidite chemistry. Br-dU represents a kinetic electron trap, since it undergoes a chemical modification after its one-electron reduction that can be analysed by piperidine-induced strand cleavage. The quantification of the strand cleavage yields from irradiation experiments reveals important information about the electron-transfer efficiency. The performed DNA studies focused on the base sequence dependence of the electron-transfer efficiency with respect to the proposal that C*- and T*- act as intermediate electron carriers during electron hopping. From our observations it became evident that excess-electron transfer is highly sequence dependent and occurs more efficiently over T-A base pairs than over C-G base pairs. 相似文献

The Potential of O‐MMT as a Reinforcing Filler for Uncured and Dynamically Cured PVC/XNBR Composites
Organic montmorillonite modified with quaternary ammonium (O‐MMT) was compounded with uncured and dynamically cured poly(vinyl chloride)/carboxylated nitrile butadiene rubber (PVC/XNBR) composites, using a Brabender Plasticorder at 130°C and 50 rpm rotor speed. The reinforcing efficiency of the O‐MMT was investigated in the uncured PVC/XNBR composite and the dynamically cured PVC/XNBR counterpart. Mixing and dynamic curing of the composites were monitored by typical torque‐time curves derived from a Brabender internal mixer. The torque‐time curves revealed that the dynamic curing process was successful and the incorporation of O‐MMT has no adverse effect on the processibility of the composites. It has been found that the introduction of crosslinks within the rubbery phase in the presence of the O‐MMT has further improved the tensile properties. DMA studies revealed that dynamically cured composite with O‐MMT showed higher storage modulus than the composite without O‐MMT. Furthermore, a one‐step tensile modulus vs. temperature curve and a related one peak tensile loss modulus vs. temperature curve were obtained, consequently, both are characteristics of a miscible polymers system. Further evidence on the composite miscibility was purchased by thermal scans from DSC, which showed a single glass transition temperature of PVC/XNBR composites. This claim was further supported by ATR‐IR spectra which revealed that hydrogen bonding is extensively involved in PVC/XNBR composites. This evidence unveiled the exact nature of the specific interactions responsible for miscibility and hence, enhanced mechanical properties. Furthermore, we proved in our studies the reinforcing role played by layered clay due to better dispersion, as well as improved interactions. 相似文献

A new C‐nucleoside structurally based on the hydroxyquinoline ligand was synthesized that is able to form stable pairs in DNA in both the absence and the presence of metal ions. The interactions between the metal centers in adjacent CuII‐mediated base pairs in DNA were probed by electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy. The metal–metal distance falls into the range of previously reported values. Fluorescence studies with a donor–DNA–acceptor system indicate that photoinduced charge‐transfer processes across these metal‐ion‐mediated base pairs in DNA occur more efficiently than over natural base pairs. 相似文献
