Dynamical behavior of particles in a Paul trap in the presence of damping force has been investigated. Position of trapped ions as a function of time, ion trajectories and the phase space curves considering the effect of the damping force were obtained. Four regions of stability for r and z components with the damping force as well as the maximum value of q when U = 0 for the first region, namely qmax, versus damping factor k were computed using the fourth-order Runge–Kutta method. Comparisons were made with the corresponding stability diagrams without the damping force effect recently published in the literature. The third and fourth stability regions in the presence of the damping force, the curve of qmax as a function of k and the related equation are reported for the first time.  相似文献

Abstract

The impact of the compensator's location along the optical fiber on a variation of four-wave mixing power penalty is investigated theoretically and numerically for dispersion-managed fibers in wavelength division multiplexing systems. The power penalty is analyzed for fibers with different attenuation coefficients and lengths, and the optimum positions for the compensator along the fiber is discussed in cases of both dispersion compensation of each fiber section between two amplifiers and whole-compensation.  相似文献

The objectives of this study were to examine the influence interfacial composition on environmental stresses stability of oil in water emulsions. An electrostatic layer-by-layer deposition method was used to create the multilayered interfacial membranes with different compositions: (i) primary emulsion (Soy protein Isolate); (ii) secondary emulsion (Soy protein Isolate – OSA-starch); (iii) tertiary emulsion (Soy protein isolate – OSA-starch – chitosan). Fourier transform-infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) results confirmed the adsorption of charged polyelectrolyte onto oppositely charge polyelectrolyte-coated oil droplets. The stability of primary, secondary, and tertiary emulsions to thermal treatment (30 min at 30–90°C), pH (3–7) and NaCl (0–500 mM) were determined using ζ-potential, particle diameter, and microstructure analysis. Primary emulsions were unstable at pH 4–7, salt concentrations, and thermal treatments. Secondary emulsions were stable to creaming and droplet aggregation at pH 3–5, at ≤50 mM NaCl, and unstable at thermal treatments, whereas tertiary emulsions were stable at all salt concentrations, thermal treatments, and at pH 3–6. These results demonstrate that these polymers can be used to engineer oil in water emulsion systems and improve the emulsion stability to environmental stresses.  相似文献

The confinement of ions in a cube‐shaped ion trap and the mathematical formalism governing the behavior of ions in the trap is investigated theoretically. Afterwards, the stability regions are computed using the fourth‐order Rung–Kutta method. Consequently, the influence of the direction of ions, injected into the trap from its center on the stability region, is numerically discussed. Moreover, the maximum angle of injection with respect to the vertical axis of the cube for which the ions could be confined in the trap without invoking any direct current component of voltage (henceforth referred to as limiting angle) was calculated. Strong linear correlation between the angle of injection and the ratio of the stability region areas is confirmed. A nonlinear feature of a cube‐shaped ion trap is demonstrated with a focus on the equations of motion for an ion confined into the trap. It is worthwhile to note that the stability region of our cubic ion trap, which has its own boundary conditions and electrodynamics, has been theoretically investigated for the first time. Besides, the limiting angle as well as the aforementioned strong linear correlation has not been reported in the literature previously. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Four wave mixing (FWM) induced power penalty is investigated theoretically for asymmetrical dispersion-managed fibers in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) systems. The power penalty in these fibers is analyzed for various values of channel spacing, maximum dispersion and number of sections in different channels. Using numerical simulations, it is illustrated that the FWM induced power penalty is minimized for the case of two fiber sections with unequally special lengths and symmetrical dispersion values.  相似文献

In this work we present a heterostructure All Optical Flip-Flop configuration based on all optical switching with Kerr nonlinear photonic crystal. In this square-hexagonal structure, we propose three different schemes for the cavities in order to show the trade-off between switching time and triggering power. Loss in the system is reasonably low because of the perfect band gap matching at bending points where two lattices join. The proposed RS-Flip Flop has exceptional features, which make it one of the well optimized and most practical structures to be used in the all optical integrated circuits. The novel design has a fast switching action (on the order of a few picoseconds), and low input power (on the order of 100 mW). Furthermore, high contrast of the output signals for ON and OFF states, can help the easy detection or its coupling to the other devices. The structure is fascinatingly uncomplicated, which results in ultra small dimensions which make it suitable to be placed in an all optical integrated circuit. Besides, we provide a profound analytical view on the functioning of the system, as analyzed by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method.  相似文献

The range and straggling data obtained from the transport of ions in matter (TRIM) computer program were used to determine the trajectories of monoenergetic 60 MeV protons in muscle tissue by using the Monte Carlo technique. The appropriate profile for the shape of a proton pencil beam in proton therapy as well as the dose deposited in the tissue were computed. The good agreements between our results as compared with the corresponding experimental values are presented here to show the reliability of our Monte Carlo method.  相似文献
