Following the introduction and preliminary investigations of analytic Zariski structures in Peatfield and Zilber (Ann pure Appl Logic 132:125–180, 2005) an example of an analytic Zariski structure extending an algebraically closed field is provided. Atomic populations and localization [lambda(A)] and delocalization [delta(A,B)] indices (LIs and DIs) are calculated for a large set of molecules at the Hartree-Fock (HF), MP2, MP4(SDQ), CISD, and QCISD levels with the 6-311++G(2d,2p) basis set. The HF method and the conventional correlation methods [MP2, MP4(SDQ), CISD, and QCISD] yield distinct sets of LIs and DIs. Yet, within the four conventional correlation methods the differences in atomic populations and LIs and DIs are small. Relative to HF, the conventional correlation methods [MP2, MP4(SDQ), CISD, QCISD] yield virtually the same LIs and DIs for molecules with large charge separations while LIs and DIs that differ significantly from the HF values--the LIs are increased and DIs decreased--are obtained for bonds with no or small charge separations. Such is the case in the archetypal homopolar molecules HC(triple bond)CH, H2C=CH2, CH3-CH3, and "protonated cyclopropane" C(3)H(7) (+), in which case the bonding may be atypical. Relative to HF, the typical effect of the conventional correlation methods is to decrease the DI between atoms. 相似文献

A method for deflecting ions, such as K+, produced outside a Fourier-transform mass spectrometer cell during laser-induced thermal desorption, is described. This technique has been shown to deflect laser-generated K and Ti ions from two Ti foil samples (biomedical implant model surfaces), yielding mass spectra of coadsorbed organic species. Further studies characterizing the laser desorption/deflection parameters have shown that ion deflection improves with higher deflection voltages and greater sample to Fourier-transform mass spectrometry cell separation. Higher laser power densities resulted in greater surface ion production; hence higher deflection voltages were necessary. A 6% increase in laser power necessitated a fourfold increase in deflection voltage for the Ti sample. 相似文献

Recoil Spectrometry covers a group of techniques that are very similar to the well known Rutherford backscattering Spectrometry technique, but with the important difference that one measures the recoiling target atom rather than the projectile ion. This makes it possible to determine both the identity of the recoil and its depth of origin from its energy and velocity, using a suitable detector system. The incident ion is typically high-energy (30–100MeV)35C1,81Br or127I. Low concentrations of light elements such as C, O and N can be profiled in a heavy matrix such as Fe or GaAs. When normal or SV40-transformed Balb/c 3T3 cells are treated with the Ca++-specific chelator EGTA, they round up and pull away from their footpad adhesion sites to the serum-coated tissue culture substrate, as shown by scanning electron microscope studies. Elastic membranous retraction fibers break upon culture agitation, leaving adhesion sites as substrate-attached material (SAM) (Cells leave "footprints" of substrate adhesion sites during movement by a very similar process.) SAM contains 1-2% of the cell's total protein and phospholipid content and 5-10% of its glucosamine-radiolabeled polysaccharide, most of which is glycosaminoglycan (GAG). By one- and two-dimensional sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis, there is considerable enrichment in SAM for specific GAGs; for the glycoprotein fibronectin; and for the cytoskeletal proteins actin, myosin, and the subunit protein of the 10 nm-diameter filaments. Fibrillar fibronectin of cellular origin and substratum-bound fibronectin of serum origin (cold-insoluble globulin, CIg) have been visualized by immunofluorescence microscopy. The GAG composition in SAM has been examined under different cellular growth and attachment conditions. Heparan sulfate content correlates with glycopeptide content (derived from glycoprotein). Newly attaching cells deposit SAM with principally heparan sulfate and fibronectin and little of the other GAGs. Hyaluronate and chrondroitin proteoglycans are coordinately deposited in SAM as cells begin spreading and movement over the substrate. Cells attaching to serum-coated or CIg-coated substrates deposited SAM with identical compositions. The proteoglycan nature of the GAGs in SAM has been examined, as well as the ability of proteoglycans to form two classes of reversibly dissociable "supramolecular complexes" - one class with heparan sulfate and glycopeptide-containing material and the second with hyaluronate-chondroitin complexes. Enzymatic digestion of "intact" SAM with trypsin or testicular hyaluronidase indicates that (1) only a small portion of long-term radiolabeled fibronectin and cyto-skeletal protein is bound to the substrate via hyaluronate or chondroitin classes of GAG; (2) most of the fibronectin, cytoskeletal protein and heparan sulfate coordinately resist solubilization; and (3) newly synthesized fibronectin, which is metabolically labile in SAM, is linked to SAM by hyaluronate- and/or chondroitin-dependent binding. All of our studies indicate that heparan sulfate is a direct mediator of adhesion of cells to the substrate, possibly by binding to both cell-surface fibronectin and substrate-bound CIg in the serum coating; hyaluronate-chondroitin complexes in SAM appear to be most important in motility of cells by binding and labilizing fibronectin at the periphery of footpad adhesions, with subsequent cytoskeletal disorganization. 相似文献

Certain cancer cells proliferate under conditions of oxidative stress (OS) and might therefore be selectively targeted by redox catalysts. Among these catalysts, compounds containing a chalcogen and a quinone redox centre are particularly well suited to respond to the presence of OS. These catalysts combine the specific electrochemical features of quinones and chalcogens. They exhibit high selectivity and efficiency against oxidatively stressed rat PC12, human Jurkat and human Daudi cells in cell culture, where their mode of action most likely involves the catalytic activation of existent and the generation of new reactive oxygen species. The high efficiency and selectivity shown by these catalysts makes them interesting for the development of anti-cancer drugs. 相似文献

[reaction: see text] trans-(3S)-Amino piperidines bearing various alkyl and aryl substituents at the C-4 position were synthesized via a ring-closing metathesis reaction. The absolute stereochemistry was controlled using a protected D-serine as a starting material. Stereoselective hydrogenation of allylamines provided trans-(3S)-amino-(4R)-alkyl- and -(4S)-aryl-piperidines.
