A mathematical model is presented for the kinetic resolution of racemates. It takes all intermediate binding steps into account and assumes that such steps are reversible. The model describing dynamics of the chiral reaction products consists of two nonlinear differential equations. With this model, the enantioselectivity of enzyme has been studied. Mathematical and numerical simulation of the model show that there are several ways to control the enantiomeric ratio (E) but the affinity and the binding rates of the intermediate enzyme complex to the racemic substrates are the key steps for the enzyme enantioselectivity.  相似文献

It is known that the lac operon regulatory pathway is capable of showing bistable behavior. This is an important complex feature, arising from the nonlinearity of the involved mechanisms, which is essential to understand the dynamic behavior of this molecular regulatory system. To find which of the mechanisms involved in the regulation of the lac operon is the origin of bistability, we take a previously published model which accounts for the dynamics of mRNA, lactose, allolactose, permease and beta-galactosidase involvement and simplify it by ignoring permease dynamics (assuming a constant permease concentration). To test the behavior of the reduced model, three existing sets of data on beta-galactosidase levels as a function of time are simulated and we obtain a reasonable agreement between the data and the model predictions. The steady states of the reduced model were numerically and analytically analyzed and it was shown that it may indeed display bistability, depending on the extracellular lactose concentration and growth rate.  相似文献

The variations of thermal conductivity with temperature for Pb–Sn alloys were measured using a radial heat flow apparatus. The variations of electrical conductivity with the temperature for same alloys were determined from the Wiedemann–Franz law by using the measured values of thermal conductivity. According to present experimental results, the thermal and electrical conductivity of Pb–Sn alloys linearly decrease with increasing temperature but exponentially increase with increasing the composition of Sn. The enthalpy of fusion and the change of specific heat for Pb–Sn alloys were also determined by means of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) from heating trace during the transformation from eutectic liquid to eutectic solid.  相似文献

Finite difference equations can be used to study the responses of biochemical chain reactions at any step of the chain to an external stimulus. In this study, we developed mathematical models for two hypothetical chain reactions involving loops to study the responses in the chain as the length of the chain gets longer, so called transient and steady state responses. The first model is for a chain with a negative feedforward loop, and the second one is for a chain that has a negative feedback loop. Although both of the models have the same steady state equations and values, we showed that the chain with negative feedforward and negative feedback loops can produce significantly different behaviors. The former can bring the chain into oscillations with various periods and eventually chaos when the feedback is strong enough as the length of the reaction chain increases, whereas the latter is not capable of producing oscillations and more complicated dynamics.  相似文献

The wall ζ‐potential ζw, the potential at the shear plane of the electric double layer, depends on the properties of the BGE solution such as the valence and type of electrolyte, the pH and the ionic strength. Most of the methods estimate ζw from measurements of the EOF velocity magnitude ueo, usually spatially averaged over the entire capillary. In these initial studies, evanescent‐wave particle velocimetry was used to measure ueo in steady EOF for a variety of monovalent aqueous solutions to evaluate the effect of small amounts of divalent cations, as well as the pH and ionic strength of BGE solutions. In brief, the magnitude of the EOF velocity of NaCl‐NaOH and borate buffer‐NaOH solutions was estimated from the measured velocities of radius α = 104 nm fluorescent polystyrene particles in 33 μm fused‐silica microchannels. The particle ζ‐potentials were measured separately using laser‐Doppler micro‐electrophoresis; ζw was then determined from ueo. The results suggest that evanescent‐wave particle velocimetry can be used to estimate ζw for a variety of BGE solutions, and that it can be used in the future to estimate local wall ζ‐potential, and hence spatial variations in ζw.  相似文献

This paper describes a general methodology to handle closed multi enzyme systems using mixture of symbolic (which depends on the Gröbner Basis technique) and numerical computation methods. The applicability of the proposed method has been examined for the closed three-enzyme system of rabbit heart creatine kinase (EC 2.7.3.2), yeast hexokinase (EC 2.7.1.1) and human erythrocyte glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (EC 1.1.1.49) using experimental data.  相似文献

The development of lead-free solders has emerged as one of the key issues in the electronics packaging industries. Sn―Zn―Bi eutectic alloy has been considered as one of the lead-free solder materials that can replace the toxic Pb―Sn eutectic solder without increasing soldering temperature. This study investigates the effect of temperature gradient and growth rate on the mechanical, electrical and thermal properties of the Sn―Zn―Bi eutectic alloy. Sn-23 wt.% Bi-5 wt.% Zn alloy was directionally solidified upward with different growth rates (V = 8.3-478.6 μm/s) at a constant temperature gradient (G = 3.99 K/mm) and with different temperature gradients (G = 1.78-3.99 K/mm) at a constant growth rate (V = 8.3 μm/s) in the Bridgman-type growth apparatus. The microhardness (HV), tensile stress (σt) and compressive stress (σc) were measured from directionally solidified samples. The dependency of the HV, σt and σc for directionally solidified Sn-23 wt.% Bi-5 wt.% Zn alloy on the solidification parameters (G, V) were investigated and the relationships between them were obtained by using regression analysis. According to present results, HV, σt and σc of directionally solidified Sn-23 wt.% Bi-5 wt.% Zn alloy increase with increasing G and V. Variations of electrical resistivity (ρ) for cast samples with the temperature in the range of 300-420 K were also measured by using a standard dc four-point probe technique. The enthalpy of fusion (ΔH) and specific heat (Cp) for same alloy was also determined by means of differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) from heating trace during the transformation from eutectic liquid to eutectic solid.  相似文献
