Fourier Transform Infrared transmission spectroscopy is used to characterize surfactant-templated silica films on glass. The calcination process is followed in situ and evidence for the removal of the surfactant along the Hoffman reaction is given. Once calcined, the surface of the pores of the mesoporous films is proven by deuteration experiment to be hydroxylated. Bands are attributed to isolated and hydrogen-bonded silanols. Silylation reaction with hexamethyldisilazane only occurs with isolated silanol groups.  相似文献

The in vitro activity of L. donovani (promastigotes, axenic amastigotes and intracellular amastigotes in THP1 cells) and T. brucei, from the fractions obtained from the hydroalcoholic extract of the aerial part of Hypericum afrum and the isolated compounds, has been evaluated. The chloroform, ethyl acetate and n-butanol extracts showed significant antitrypanosomal activity towards T. brucei, with IC50 values of 12.35, 13.53 and 12.93 µg/mL and with IC90 values of 14.94, 19.31 and 18.67 µg/mL, respectively. The phytochemical investigation of the fractions led to the isolation and identification of quercetin (1), myricitrin (2), biapigenin (3), myricetin (4), hyperoside (5), myricetin-3-O-β-d-galactopyranoside (6) and myricetin-3’-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (7). Myricetin-3’-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (7) has been isolated for the first time from this genus. The chemical structures were elucidated by using comprehensive one- and two-dimensional nuclear magnetic resonance (1D and 2D NMR) spectroscopic data, as well as high-resolution electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (HR-ESI–MS). These compounds have also been evaluated for their antiprotozoal activity. Quercetin (1) and myricetin (4) showed noteworthy activity against T. brucei, with IC50 and IC90 values of 7.52 and 5.71 µM, and 9.76 and 7.97 µM, respectively. The T. brucei hexokinase (TbHK1) enzyme was further explored as a potential target of quercetin and myricetin, using molecular modeling studies. This proposed mechanism assists in the exploration of new candidates for novel antitrypanosomal drugs.  相似文献

A new simple chronoamperometry methodology was developed for the ultrasensitive determination of lead ions using a PEDOT:PSS coated graphite carbon electrode. The polymer was directly coated on a graphite carbon electrode and characterized using simple cycle voltammetric measurements. The presence of lead ions induced a cathodic peak starting at −550 ± 10 mV vs. Ag/AgCl, and an anodic peak starting at −360 ± 10 mV vs. Ag/AgCl. Electroaccumulation of lead ions onto the PEDOT:PSS modified electrode was performed at −650 mV vs. Ag/AgCl for 30 s in a pH 2.2 hydrochloric acid solution. Chronoamperometry measurements were carried out at −350 mV vs. Ag/AgCl allowing the oxidation of accumulated lead. Using this method, lead ions were detected for concentrations ranging between 2.0 nmol L−1 and 0.1 μmol L−1 (R2 = 0.999). The detection limit was calculated to be 0.19 nmol L−1 and the quantification limit of 0.63 nmol L−1. The method was shown to be highly precise and sensitive, negligible interference was detected from other metal ions. The proposed method was successfully applied for the detection of lead ions in vegetables.  相似文献

Fast imaging using the STimulated Echo Acquisition Mode (STEAM) sequence can produce cine images of the heart with black-blood contrast. Nevertheless, correction of deformation-related artifacts is required in order to maintain myocardial signal throughout the cardiac cycle. Recent work by our group has eliminated this artifact by combining two STEAM sequences acquired with two different demodulation gradients. Unfortunately, these two STEAM sequences were acquired on two separate breath-holds; thus, scan time doubled. In this work, we present a technique to reduce the total scan time by one half, without sacrificing image quality. The technique is based on interleaving two demodulations within one acquisition in order to obtain quality cine images of the heart in a single breath-hold. The technique was tested on animal models and human subjects, and the impact of interleaved acquisition on image quality was studied using quantitative and qualitative measures.  相似文献

Measurement of myocardial strain provides direct information about heart function that can be correlated with disease. We present an MRI pulse sequence that acquires in just six heartbeats both harmonic phase (HARP) and strain-encoded (SENC) images and provides dense measurements of radial, circumferential and longitudinal strains within a single short-axis slice. Normal volunteer data confirm the feasibility of this pulse sequence, and acquired data demonstrate the strain measurement reliability.  相似文献

In the present work, different aliphatic and aromatic amines were ethoxylated after a previous propoxylation (PPPEA) with different degrees of propoxylation and ethoxylation in order to obtain polymeric surfactants having different hydrophilic–lipophilic balance (HLB) values. The influence of the structural variations in the prepared PPPEA on their efficiency as demulsifiers for water-in-oil emulsions was investigated. Synthetic water-in-benzene emulsions stabilized by petroleum asphaltenes was utilized for the completion of this study. The actual propylene oxide (PO)–ethylene oxide (EO) ratios of the PPPEA under investigation was elucidated via 1H NMR spectroscopy. It was found that each demulsifier practices a maximum demulsification efficiency at an optimum concentration. At this concentration, the demulsifiers’ molecules were believed to form a monolayer by adsorbance at the benzene–water interface. The influences of the number of aromatic rings in the molecule, the degree of substitution in the aromatic rings, the number of amine groups, the number of PO–EO chains and HLB on the demulsification efficiency were accomplished. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

Leptadenia pyrotechnica Forssk is a traditional medicinal herb used for treatment of inflammatory diseases and cancer. In this research, the aqueous ethanolic crude extract of Leptadenia pyrotechnica aerial parts, along with its ethyl acetate, n-butanol and water partitioning fractions were evaluated for their antioxidant capacity, polyphenolic content, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. The total antioxidant capacity was estimated by the FRAP, DPPH, ABTS and β-carotene bleaching assays.The ethyl acetate fraction exhibited the highest polyphenolic content (252.27 mg gallic acid/g) and the best antioxidant activity (1.2, 0.57, 0.45 mmol ascorbic acid equivalent/g in the FRAP, ABTS and DPPH assays, respectively). Furthermore, the same extract showed appreciable anti-inflammatory via lipoxygenase (LOX) inhibitory activity (IC?? = 1.41 μg/mL). Moreover, the ethyl acetate fraction also showed the strongest cytotoxic effect (IC?? = 43.16 μg/mL) against MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line. These results suggest that this plant may be considered an interesting source of compounds with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties for therapeutic, nutraceutical and functional food applications.  相似文献

Polyethylene glycol (PEG) of different molecular weights, namely, 600, 1000 and 4000 g/mol was reacted with bisphenol A to form compounds having different hydrophile–lipophile balances and hence different surface activities. The interfacial tension at the aqueous/benzene interface was determined. It was found that the concentrations of demulsifiers required to cause a minimum interfacial tension are always less than those inducing a maximum demulsification efficiency. The demulsification efficiency of the prepared surfactants in breaking synthetic water in benzene emulsions stabilized by petroleum asphaltenes was evaluated. The data revealed that the demulsification efficiency increases with increasing demulsifier concentration, contact time and hydrophilicity.  相似文献

A method for the detection of unlabeled and 15N2‐labeled l ‐tryptophan (l ‐Trp), l ‐kynurenine (l ‐Kyn), serotonin (5‐HT) and quinolinic acid (QA) in human and rat plasma by GC/MS is described. Labeled and unlabeled versions of these four products were analyzed as their acyl substitution derivatives using pentafluoropropionic anhydride and 2,2,3,3,3‐pentafluoro‐1‐propanol. Products were then separated by GC and analyzed by selected ion monitoring using negative ion chemical ionization mass spectrometry. l ‐[13C11, 15N2]‐Trp, methyl‐serotonin and 3,5‐pyridinedicarboxylic acid were used as internal standards for this method. The coefficients of variation for inter‐assay repeatability were found to be approximately 5.2% for l ‐Trp and 15N2‐Trp, 17.1% for l ‐Kyn, 16.9% for 5‐HT and 5.8% for QA (n = 2). We used this method to determine isotope enrichments in plasma l ‐Trp over the course of a continuous, intravenous infusion of l ‐[15N2]Trp in pregnant rat in the fasting state. Plasma 15N2‐Trp enrichment reached a plateau at 120 min. The free Trp appearance rate (Ra) into plasma was 49.5 ± 3.35 µmol/kg/h. The GC/MS method was applied to determine the enrichment of 15N‐labeled l ‐Trp, l ‐Kyn, 5‐HT and QA concurrently with the concentration of non‐labeled l ‐Trp, l ‐Kyn, 5‐HT and QA in plasma. This method may help improve our understanding on l ‐Trp metabolism in vivo in animals and humans and potentially reveal the relative contribution of the four pathways of l ‐Trp metabolism.
