Thermal behavior of metallodendrimers possessing bis(terpyridinyl)Ru(II) connectivity and different surface functionality

A series of metallodendrimers, assembled by means of bis(terpyridinyl)Ru^(II) connectivity on poly(propylene imine) dendrimer scaffolds, with homogeneous or heterogeneous surfaces, were prepared. Differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis were used to determine their thermal behavior, glass‐transition temperatures, and the decomposition kinetics and temperatures; no synergy effects for these properties were observed for the heterogeneously surfaced constructs in contrast to the corresponding homogeneously coated materials, which exhibited different values depending on their surface functionalities. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Construction of triangular metallomacrocycles: [M3(1,2-bis(2,2':6',2''-terpyridin-4-yl-ethynyl)benzene)3][M = Ru(II), Fe(II), 2Ru(II)Fe(II)

Complexation of a predesigned (1,2-bis(2,2':6',2'-terpyridin-4-yl-ethynyl)benzene) ligand possessing a 60 degrees angle between two terpyridines with transition metals [Fe(II) and Ru(II)] afforded the self-assembled, triangular metallomacrocycles.     

One‐Step Multicomponent Self‐Assembly of a First‐Generation Sierpiński Triangle: From Fractal Design to Chemical Reality

A novel terpyridine‐based architecture that mimics a first‐generation Sierpiński triangle has been synthesized by multicomponent assembly and features tpy? Cd^II? tpy connectivity (tpy=terpyridine). The key terpyridine ligands were synthesized by the Suzuki cross‐coupling reaction. Mixing two different terpyridine‐based ligands and Cd^II in a precise stoichiometric ratio (1:1:3) produced the desired fractal architecture in near‐quantitative yield. Characterization was accomplished by NMR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and transmission electron microscopy.     

Spirometallodendrimers: terpyridine-based intramacromolecular cyclization upon complexation

The first examples of metallodendritic spiranes have been obtained via incorporation of single terpyridine units within each dendritic quadrant.     

Design, self-assembly, and photophysical properties of pentameric metallomacrocycles: [M5(N-hexyl[1,2-bis(2,2':6',2''-terpyridin-4-yl)]carbazole)5][M = Fe(II), Ru(II), and Zn(II)

A novel family of metallopentacycles was constructed by the facile self-assembly of a bis(terpyridine)-carbazole monomer utilizing terpyridine-metal(II)-terpyridine connectivity; its photophysical properties were investigated.     

Construction of CdS quantum dots via a regioselective dendritic functionalized cellulose template

Using regioselective dendritic functionalized cellulose, CdS quantum dot nanoparticles were prepared and their photo-optical properties and morphology as well as the preliminary biocompatibility of the hybrid were investigated.     

Dendritic macromolecules for organic light-emitting diodes

The general concepts, design criteria, and physical parameters, such as component placement and electroluminescence, that relate to the construction of OLED devices are described, followed by a discussion of the current literature detailing the use of branched and dendritic materials as the key electroluminescent elements of single- and multi-layered fabricated devices. Their configurations, efficiencies, emission intensities, and molecular structural implications are also delineated and discussed. This critical review should appeal to researchers in the synthetic, material, and physical sciences (122 references).
