Amidation of deltacyclene and hexacyclic norbornadiene dimers with acetonitrile and water catalyzed by FeCl3·6H2O

Abstract

FeCl₃·6H₂O-catalyzed Ritter amidation of deltacyclene and hexacyclic norbornadiene dimers containing both a double bond and a three-carbon ring in the molecule with acetonitrile and water was performed. Depending on the hydrocarbon structure, the reaction proceeds via C-C bond cleavage in the three-carbon ring or at the double bond to form the corresponding N-acetamides.     

Methylation of mono- and dicarboxylic acids with dimethyl carbonate catalyzed with binder-free zeolite NaY

Synthesis of methyl mono- and dicarboxylates was developed consisting in treating the corresponding acids with dimethyl carbonate in the presence of a heterogenic catalyst, crystalline aluminosilicate whose mechanically strong granules to 90–95% were built of crystal aggregates of zeolite Y with modulus of about 5.0 in the Na-form. Optimum catalyst and reagents ratio and the reaction conditions were found for the preparation in high yields of methyl esters of mono- and dicarboxylic acids.     

Chlorination of hydrocarbons with CCl4 catalyzed by complexes of Mn, Mo, V, Fe

Catalytic chlorination of alkanes, cycloalkanes, and adamantane utilizing tetrachloromethane as the source of chlorine and applying catalysts containing manganese, molybdenum, vanadium, and iron activated with nitrile ligands, alcohols, and water was fulfilled. The optimum ratios of catalysts and reagents and the best reaction conditions were found for selective synthesis of chlorine-substituted hydrocarbons derivatives.     

Methylation of Aliphatic and Aromatic Carboxylic Acids with Dimethyl Carbonate under the Influence of Manganese and Iron Carbonyls

The synthesis of methyl esters has been carried out via the reaction of aliphatic and aromatic carboxylic acids with dimethyl carbonate in the presence of manganese and iron carbonyls. The optimal ratio of catalyst and reagents and other conditions for the synthesis of methyl esters of carboxylic acids with high yield have been found.     

Amidation of Diamantane with Organic Nitriles and CBr<Subscript>4</Subscript> Under the Action of Granulated Zeolite FeHY

N-(1- and 4-diamantyl)amides have been synthesized by the reaction of diamantane with organic nitriles in the presence of CBr₄ under the action of granulated zeolite FeHY. The optimal ratios of the catalyst, reagents and the conditions for preparation of 1-N-diamantylamides in high yield have been found.     

Phase diagram of the NaF–CaF<Subscript>2</Subscript> system and the electrical conductivity of a CaF<Subscript>2</Subscript>-based solid solution

The phase diagram of the NaF–CaF₂ system was studied by thermal analysis and X-ray powder diffraction analysis with the determination of the chemical composition. The system was found to be of the eutectic type. A narrow range of the existence of solid solution Ca_1–xNa_xF_2–x was established. The NaF solubility reaches a maximal value of x = 0.035 at 1200 ± 50°C (the temperature at which there is a diffuse phase transition in fluorite). At 920 ± 25°C, the NaF solubility reaches a minimum (<0.4 mol %) and increases again to 2.2 ± 0.2 mol % at a eutectic temperature (818°C). The ionic conductivity increases by three orders of magnitude after adding NaF to CaF₂.     

Vanadium-Catalyzed Condensation of Ethyl Cyanoacetate with Ketones

Vanadium compounds and complexes activated by pyridine or morpholine catalyze condensation of ethyl cyanoacetate with ketones and aldehydes leading to alkylidenecyanoacetates in 75–100% yield.
