On characterization of Poisson and Jacobi structures

We characterize Poisson and Jacobi structures by means of complete lifts of the corresponding tensors: the lifts have to be related to canonical structures by morphisms of corresponding vector bundles. Similar results hold for generalized Poisson and Jacobi structures (canonical structures) associated with Lie algebroids and Jacobi algebroids.     

Hausdorff Measures versus Equilibrium States of Conformal Infinite Iterated Function Systems

Dealing with infinite iterated function systems we introduce and develop the ergodic theory of Hölder systems of functions similarly as in [HU] and [HMU]. In the context of conformal infinite iterated function systems we prove the volume lemma for the Hausdorff dimension of the projection onto the limit set of a shift invariant measure. This can be considered as a Billingsley type result. Our cenral goal is to demonstrate the appearance of the "singularity-absolute continuity" dichotomy for equilibrium states of Hölder systems of functions which has been observed in [PUZ,I] and [PUZ,II] (see also [DU1] and [DU2]) in the setting of rational functions of the Riemann sphere.     

Intra- versus intermolecular hydrogen bonds in salicylamide derivatives

The crystal structures, solid-state infrared patterns, and thermal properties of two polymorphs of 4-nitrosalicylanilide are presented. In both polymorphs, intramolecular hydrogen bonds are found between the phenol oxygen and the amide proton, and intermolecular hydrogen bonds are found between the amide carbonyl oxygen and the phenol proton. These hydrogen bond patterns are compared to those found in other known salicylamide derivatives and an analysis is given of the factors contributing to preferences for intra- or intermolecular hydrogen bonds in these structures. Highly tilted antiferroelectric (R) enantiomers useful for the formulation of eutectic mixtures

ABSTRACT

Novel chiral three-ring (R) enantiomers were synthesised using optically active (R)-(?)-2-octanol. Properties, such as the sequence of phases, the transition temperatures and enthalpies, were tested by a polarising optical microscope and differential scanning calorimeter. An antiferroelectric smectic phase (SmC_A*) with a direct transition from the antiferroelectric to the isotropic phase (SmC_A*-Iso) was observed for three esters with an achiral C₃F₇CH₂O(CH₂)₃O– terminal chain. Bi- and multicomponent mixtures with a broad temperature range of the antiferroelectric phase and good electro-optical properties were formulated. Helical pitch of pure esters and mixtures was measured by spectrophotometry method.     

Nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen in meso-nitroaryl-substituted porphyrins—unprotected at the NH-centers in the core ring

Unprotected 5-(4-nitrophenyl)-10,15,20-triphenylporphyrin and 5,10-bis(4-nitrophenyl)-15,20-diphenylporphyrin react in the presence of a base at low temperature with carbanions (which bear a leaving group X at the carbanionic center) affording vicarious nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen (VNS) products in good yields (50-89%). The reactivity is explained in terms of the predominance of the porphyrin N-anion resonance forms at this temperature.     

Diastereoselective addition of vinylmagnesium halides to variously N-mono- and N,N-diprotected l-alaninals

Diastereoselective C₂-elongation processes of N-mono- 1a-c and N,N-diprotected 1d-fl-alaninals, using vinylmagnesium bromide and chloride, are described. A substantial difference between effects of the N-protecting groups replacing either one or two amino protons was observed.
