Spectrally resolved infrared stimulated vibrational echo data were obtained for sperm whale carbonmonoxymyoglobin (MbCO) at 300 K. The measured dephasing dynamics of the CO ligand are in agreement with dephasing dynamics calculated with molecular dynamics (MD) simulations for MbCO with the residue histidine-64 (His64) having its imidazole epsilon nitrogen protonated (N(epsilon)-H). The two conformational substate structures B(epsilon) and R(epsilon) observed in the MD simulations are assigned to the spectroscopic A(1) and A(3) conformational substates of MbCO, respectively, based on the agreement between the experimentally measured and calculated dephasing dynamics for these substates. In the A(1) substate, the N(epsilon)-H proton and N(delta) of His64 are approximately equidistant from the CO ligand, while in the A(3) substate, the N(epsilon)-H of His64 is oriented toward the CO, and the N(delta) is on the surface of the protein. The MD simulations show that dynamics of His64 represent the major source of vibrational dephasing of the CO ligand in the A(3) state on both femtosecond and picosecond time scales. Dephasing in the A(1) state is controlled by His64 on femtosecond time scales, and by the rest of the protein and the water solvent on longer time scales.  相似文献

A method for the determination of Cd, Cu, Pb, and Zn in the total and acetic acid (25%) soluble fraction of suspended particulate matter collected on Nuclepore membranes is described. The acetic acid leaching was carried out in a modified Millipore vacuum filtration apparatus. The total sample and the acetic insoluble fraction were decomposed in teflon bombs with HF/aqua regia. Flame or graphite furnace AAS was used for metal determinations. Sequential acetic acid extractions (3) show that on the average 76.4-92.0% of the metals are removed with the first extraction. Cadmium is potentially most easily available to biota with 90.4% of the total metal concentration located in the acetic acid soluble fraction.  相似文献

Through the sol–gel process, using the so-called neutral amine route, spherical particles of 1:1 zirconia–titania were synthesized from zirconium(IV) and titanium(IV) butoxides as well as 1,12-diaminododecane as precursor species. The obtained product exhibited a hexagonal structure, as determinated by X-ray diffraction data. The obtained material was also characterized by thermogravimetry, differential scanning calorimetry, infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and surface area measurements. Despite the release of template molecules on heating, the spherical morphology was retained up to about 1200°C, at which the disruption of the spheres took place.  相似文献

The nonlinear response function associated with the infrared vibrational echo is calculated for a quantum mechanical model of resonantly coupled, anharmonic oscillators at zero temperature. The classical mechanical response function is determined from the quantum response function by setting variant Planck's over 2pi-->0, permitting the comparison of the effects of resonant vibrational coupling among an arbitrary number of anharmonic oscillators on quantum and classical vibrational echoes. The quantum response function displays a time dependence that reflects both anharmonicity and resonant coupling, while the classical response function depends on anharmonicity only through a time-independent amplitude, and shows a time dependence controlled only by the resonant coupling. In addition, the classical response function grows without bound in time, a phenomenon associated with the nonlinearity of classical mechanics, and absent in quantum mechanics. This unbounded growth was previously identified in the response function for a system without resonant vibrational energy transfer, and is observed to persist in the presence of resonant coupling among vibrations. Quantitative agreement between classical and quantum response functions is limited to a time scale of duration inversely proportional to the anharmonicity.  相似文献

The effects exhibited by adsorbed conducting polyaniline on the redox process on a molybdenum oxide surface were studied. Thermogravimetric results indicate a 4% polyaniline deposition. Cyclic voltammograms of the adsorbed polymer on MoO3 show that polyaniline exerts remarkable effects on the molybdenum blue oxidation-reduction process, with oxidation and reduction potentials of 0.33 and 0.18 V, respectively. This effect strongly enhances the electrode response, and can be used as an important tool in qualitative and/or quantitative determinations of molybdenum in solution as well as in any substrate. Adsorption, desorption, and precipitation reactions at environmental interfaces govern the fate of phosphorus in terrestrial and aquatic environments. Typically, a substantial part of the total pool of phosphorus consists of organophosphate, and in this study we have focused on the interactions between glucose-1-phosphate (G1P) and goethite (α-FeOOH) particles. The adsorption and surface-promoted hydrolysis reactions have been studied at room temperature as a function of pH, time, and total concentration of G1P by means of quantitative batch experiments in combination with infrared spectroscopy. A novel simultaneous infrared and potentiometric titration (SIPT) technique has also been used to study the rates and mechanisms of desorption of the surface complexes. The results have shown that G1P adsorption occurs over a wide pH interval and at pH values above the isoelectric point of goethite (IEP(goethite) = 9.4), indicating a comparatively strong interaction with the particle surfaces. As evidenced by IR spectroscopy, G1P formed pH-dependent surface complexes on goethite, and investigations of both adsorption and desorption processes were consistent with a model including three types of surface complexes. These complexes interact monodentately with surface Fe but differ in hydrogen bonding interactions via the auxiliary oxygens of the phosphate group. The apparent desorption rates were shown to be influenced by reaction pathways that include interconversion of surface species, which highlights the difficulty in determining the intrinsic desorption rates of individual surface complexes. Desorption results have also indicated that the molecular structures of surface complexes and the surface charge are two important determinants of G1P desorption rates. Finally, this study has shown that surface-promoted hydrolysis of G1P by goethite is base-catalyzed but that the extent of hydrolysis was small.  相似文献

Our main result is the construction of an embedding ofC(T2) into an approximately finite-dimensionalC *-algebra which induces an injection onK 0(C(T2)). The existence of this embedding implies that Cech cohomology cannot be extended to a stable, continuous homology theory forC *-algebras which admits a well-behaved Chern character. Homotopy properties ofC *-algebras are also considered. For example, we show that the second homotopy functor forC *-algebras is discontinuous. Similar embeddings are constructed for all the rational rotation algebras, with the consequence that none of the rational rotation algebras satisfies the homotopy property called semiprojectivity.  相似文献

The adsorption of amino acids onto mineral surfaces plays an important role in a wide range of areas, e.g., low-temperature aqueous geochemistry, bone formation and protein-bone interactions. In this work, the adsorption of three alpha aminoacids (sarcosine, MIDA and EDDA) onto goethite (alpha-FeOOH) was studied as a function of pH and background electrolyte concentration at 25.0 degrees C, and the molecular structures of the surface complexes formed were analyzed by means of ATR-FTIR spectroscopy. The results showed that adsorption of alpha amino acids were strongly dependent on the functionality and structure of the ligands. No adsorption was detected for the zwitterionic sarcosine indicating that simple alpha amino acids without other ionizable and/or functional groups display insignificant affinity for mineral surfaces such as goethite. With respect to the more complex amino acids, which are surface reactive, the number and relative positions of carboxylate and amine groups determine the types of surface interactions. These interactions range from non-specific outer-sphere to specific inner-sphere interactions as shown by the MIDA and EDDA results, respectively. The results presented herein suggest that isomerically-selective adsorption might only occur for amino acids that are capable of specific surface interactions, either through site-specific hydrogen bonding or inner-sphere complexation.  相似文献
