Structure of ammonium salts of 2-oxy-1,4-butylene-and 2-oxy-1,5-amylenephosphoric acids

The structures of dioxaphosphepane (I) and dioxaphosphecane (II) salts prepared by hydrolysis of the corresponding bicyclophosphates have been compared. In both cases, hydrolysis occurs with breaking of the P–O bond of the fragment at the secondary carbon atom of bicyclophosphate. In phosphocycles I and II, the endocyclic bond angles O–P–O are 104.2 and 104.9°, and the exocyclic ones are 117.7 and 118.6°, respectively. Conformations of the anions in I and II differ substantially: for I it is a twist conformation^C1T_C4, and for II a distorted armchair. Kinetics and mechanism of reaction of cis-α,β-dinitrostilbene with morpholine

Reaction of cis-,-dinitrostilbene (substrate) with morpholine (reagent) in n-hexane leads to cis--nitro--morpholinostilbene (end product). The process is of first order with respect to the substrate and second order with respect to the reagent. Possible reaction mechanisms are analyzed, and it is established that the following are most probable on the basis of kinetic patterns and stereochemistry: development of a charge transfer complex having a hydrogen bond between the substrate nitro group and reagent amino group; reaction of the complex with a second reagent molecule and formation of a carbanion (this stage determines the overall reaction rate); and detachment of a nitrite ion from the nitrocarbanion and its protonation to form the end product.N. Experimental and theoretical study of vibrational spectra and structure of dihalogermylene and dihalostannylene complexes with 1,4-dioxane and triphenylphosphine

Vibrational (Raman and IR) spectra of the 1:1 complexes of dihalogermylene and dihalostannylene with 1,4-dioxane and PPh₃ have been reported, the structures of the complexes Cl₂Ge·C₄H₈O₂ and Cl₂Ge·PPh₃ updated using high-resolution X-ray method. Quantum-chemistry calculations of the geometry and normal mode frequencies and eigenvectors were carried out for some of the complexes. The results show that in the structure of the polymeric solid complexes of X₂M with 1,4-dioxane, intermolecular coordination XM plays a prominent role, whereas the corresponding complexes with PPh₃ are monomeric. In the vibrational spectra of all the complexes, an inversion of symmetric and antisymmetric stretching νXM (X=Cl, Br; M=Ge, Sn) frequencies, found for ‘free’ X₂M^II particles, still persists, suggesting that the X₂M moieties preserve their specifity as carbene analogues also in the complexes.     

The influence of the mercury and thallium atoms in organomercury and organothallium nitroxyl radicals on their reactivity

An increase is found in the reactivity of organomercury and organothallium nitroxyl mono- and biradicals of the imidazoline type in comparison with the analogous compounds without organometallic fragments. Synthesis and structure of the 1,2-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose 3,5,6-bis-cyclophosphite complex with tungsten(0) pentacarbonyl

Metallocomplexes with optically active ligands are of considerable interest as catalysts of stereoselective processes. A complex of 1,2-isopropylidene-α-D-glucofuranose 3,5,6-bis-cyclophosphite with tungsten(0) pentacarbonyl has been synthesized for the first time and studied by X-ray crystallography.     

Inversion of ν(MHal) stretching frequencies in the spectra of dihalosilylenes, -germylenes, -stannylenes,and their complexes with Lewis bases

The vibrational spectra of tetravalent metal halides (M = Si, Ge, Sn) and the corresponding dihalocarbene analogs M^IIHal₂, obtained by the authors, and the relevant published data are compared. The spectra of the M^IIHal₂ species exhibit inversion of the M-Hal stretching frequencies (ν^s(M^IIHal) > ν ^as(M^IIHal)). This can be used for analytical purposes and allows one to distinguish between the spectra of the M^IV and M^II halides. The IR and Raman spectra of the complexes of dihalogermylenes and -stannylenes with triphenylphosphine and 1,4-dioxane also exhibit inversion of the ν(MHal) stretching frequencies. This confirms the conclusion drawn earlier based on the analysis of the geometric parameters and reactivities of the complexes in question that the divalent state of the M atom in these species is retained. Self-similar patterns of subsatellites formation at the capillary breakup of viscous jets

Formation of subsatellites at the capillary breakup of viscous liquid jets has been studied. The proposed analytical model qualitatively describes subsatellites formation. The obtained patterns for the formation of subsatellites’ nuclei and dynamics of their separation from a jet well agree with the results of numerical modeling.     

Heterometallic Carboxylate Complexes as Precursors for Mixed Oxides: I. s–d Carboxylates

The current status of research into the thermal behavior of heterometallic s–d carboxylates that are suitable candidates for single-source precursors of mixed oxides was considered. Emphasis was placed on the thermal stability and conditions of conversion of complexes to mixed oxides The influence of the composition and nature of the precursor on the composition and properties of the resulting mixed oxides was demonstrated.
