A fundamental study of the application of cumin biomass in the recovery of Cu and Zn metal ion uptake from food and drinks is carried out at different pH's and at fixed ionic strength. The chemical characteristics of protein in cumin seeds were investigated. Results showed that cumin contains 18.25% crude protein, which includes 18 amino acids. The main reactive groups on protein cumin are amino and carboxylic groups of dicarboxylic amino acids, leading to a pH-dependent charge. Therefore, the cumin surface is considered as a heterogeneous system. To describe protonation behavior in a heterogeneous cumin biomass (cumin/0.1 M NaNO(3)) system, acid-base titrations have been performed with conductometric and potentiometric titration. Measurement of the reactivity of cumin surface in the adsorption of Cu and Zn metal ions and determination of metal binding at different pH's were also carried out. To solve broad and ill-defined titration curves, a simplified version of nonideal competitive analysis (NICA) by Plette et al.) was applied. The results show that the sorption of the bivalent metal ions onto the whole surface of cumin could be attributed to a monodentate binding to one site mainly carboxylic-type site.  相似文献

Peristaltic motion induced by a surface acoustic wave of a viscous, compressible and electrically conducting Maxwell fluid in a confined parallel-plane microchannel through a porous medium is investigated in the presence of a constant magnetic field. The slip velocity is considered and the problem is discussed only for the free pumping case. A perturbation technique is employed to analyze the problem in terms of a small amplitude ratio. The phenomenon of a “backward flow” is found to exist in the center and at the boundaries of the channel. In the second order approximation, the net axial velocity is calculated for various values of the fluid parameters. Finally, the effects of the parameters of interest on the mean axial velocity, the reversal flow, and the perturbation function are discussed and shown graphically. We find that in the non-Newtonian regime, there is a possibility of a fluid flow in the direction opposite to the propagation of the traveling wave. This work is the most general model of peristalsis created to date with wide-ranging applications in biological, geophysical and industrial fluid dynamics.  相似文献

Various bulk and surface analytical techniques were used to study the chemical deterioration of the 13th-to-15th century limestone cathedral in Mechelen, Belgium. The weathering crust on the walls was found to be rich in sulfate, regardless of the geographic orientation. Nitrate and chloride were only detected in minor amounts in the crust and run-off samples. Attack by gaseous sulfur compounds seems to play a dominant role in the stone deterioration mechanism. Electron microprobe analysis showed predominantly bar-shaped gypsum crystals in the crust, and laser microprobe mass spectrometry showed that carbon seems to be responsible for the blackness of most crust samples. Automated electron microprobe analysis also indicated significant differences in the analytical composition of suspensions in run-off water and in rain-water.  相似文献

 A highly sensitive, selective, and rapid differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetric method at HMDE is described for the determination of trace concentrations of Mn2+. The determination of Mn2+ in non-buffered chloride solution is seriously disturbed by the presence of Ni2+, Co2+, Cr3+, Zn2+ and Cu2+ due to intermetallic compound formation. The procedure is based on the addition of low amounts of cyanide as a masking agent. The interference of < 20 μgL−1 of Ni2+, Co2+ and Cr3+ and < 75 μgL−1 of Cu2+ and Zn2+ can thus be avoided, as the formed cyanide complexes prevent intermetallic compound formation during the short accumulation period. Thus, the addition of cyanide greatly improves the DPASV determination of manganese in non-buffered medium. A comparison between the determination of Mn2+ in the presence of a mixed cyanide/non-buffered chloride and in the ammoniacal buffer solution shows that the peak current of manganese in the presence of cyanide is four times higher with the same peak potential. The proposed method is shown to be applicable for the Mn2+ determination in both ground and tap water. A good agreement is obtained between the results by DPASV and AAS. Received May 14, 1999. Differential-pulse anodic stripping voltammetry is applied to determine cadmium, lead and copper in rain water acidified with nitric acid to pH 1.5, and zinc after partial neutralization to pH 4.5. Subsequently, cobalt and nickel are measured in the adsorptive mode after formation of their dimethylglyoximates. The effects of pH on the stripping peaks for Zn, Cd, Pb and Cu and of chloride on the stripping peak of copper are reported. Good agreement is found with d.p.s.v. determinations in hydrochloric acid medium and with a.a.s. measurements in most cases. Excellent accuracy is demonstrated; the average relative standard deviation per measurement appears to be between 12 and 22% for the overall analytical procedure for concentrations of 0.15–50 μgl?1 of the various metals in the samples.  相似文献

Complexes of FeII with monoxime and dioxime ligands have been isolated and characterised. Kinetic results and rate laws are reported for acid aquation and base hydrolysis of these complexes in H2O and in MeOH–H2O mixtures. Kinetics of acid catalysed aquation of FeII–monoxime complexes follow a rate law with kobs = k2[H+] + k3[H+]2, while kinetics of acid dissociation and base hydrolysis of the FeII–dioxime complex follow rate laws with kobs = k2[H+] and kobs = k2[OH]. Acid aquation and base hydrolysis mechanisms are proposed. The solubilities of FeII–monoxime and –dioxime complex salts are reported and transfer chemical potentials of their complex cations are calculated. Solvent effects on reactivity trends have been analysed into initial and transition state components. These are determined from transfer chemical potentials of reactant and kinetic data. Rate constant trends from these complexes are compared and discussed in terms of ligand structure and solvation properties. Our kinetic results give information relevant to the application of these ligands as analytical reagents for trace FeII in acidic and neutral media, in water and in aqueous alcohols.  相似文献

Differential-pulse stripping voltammetry is applied to measure zinc, cadmium, lead and copper by anodic stripping and selenium(IV) by cathodic stripping in rain water at pH 2; subsequently, at pH 9,1, manganese is measured by anodic stripping on the same portion, and cobalt and nickel are measured in the adsorptive mode after formation of their dimethylglyoximates. The instrumental parameters are optimized. The linear ranges, mutual interferences and detection limits are studied. Excellent accuracy is demonstrated; the standard deviation is around 15% at 2.5–50 μg l?1 levels. The method is shown to be applicable for rain water.  相似文献

The determination of trace metals in river water and ground water by DPSV is seriously disturbed by the presence of organic complexes. The influence of these substances can be eliminated by acidification of the samples with acids. Cd, Pb and Cu were determined at pH 1.1 (HNO3 medium) and Zn, Cd, Pb and Cu at pH 2 (HCl medium), in both the Nile river and ground water. Zn was determined at pH 3.5 in HCl and pH 4.5 in HNO3, after neutralizing the samples with NH3/NH4Cl buffer. Manganese could then be determined, after further addition of ammoniacal buffer solution up to pH 7.5 and 8.5. Ni and Co were determined in the adsorptive mode after formation of dimethylglyoximates at pH 9.2. The effect of pH on the stripping peaks of manganese was studied. Good agreement was observed between DPSV and AAS results for Zn, Cd, Pb, Cu and Mn, but the concentrations of Ni and Co were below the detection limits for AAS. Good agreement was obtained between DPSV results in HCl and HNO3 for Ni and Co. The results indicate that decomposition of organic complexes by acidification with HNO3 is better than in the case with HCl for Zn, Pb, Cu, Ni and Co, but HCl is better than HNO3 for Cd and Mn.  相似文献
