Synthesis and properties of fluorinated 2-benzoylcyclohexane-1,3-diones

Fluorinated 2-benzoylcyclohexane-1,3-diones were obtained by the O-C isomerization of the corresponding 3-benzoyloxycyclohex-2-en-1-ones under the action of acetone cyanohydrin in the presence of triethylamine in the medium of absolute acetonitrile. The structure of the target compounds was investigated by the means of IR and NMR spectroscopy, and X-ray diffraction analysis.     

Methods for the detection of sulfur mustard metabolites in biological materials: An analytical review

This review surveys published data to generalize methods for the determination of sulfur mustard and its metabolites in various media. Attention is focused on biological materials. Data on the toxicokinetics and metabolism of sulfur mustard are cited, and the problem of choosing a biomarker for the indication of sulfur mustard poisoning is considered.     

γ-hydroxypropylation of 2,6-dialkyl(aryl)phenols with allyl alcohol and its derivatives

The composition of the products of the reaction of 2,6-disubstituted phenols with allyl alcohol and its derivatives in an alkaline medium was investigated, the conditions for carrying out the reaction with the predominant formation of 4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2,6-dialkyl(aryl)phenols were found, and its mechanism was suggested. The reaction was examined on an industrial scale. An important result is the practical demonstration of alkaline catalysis performed under homogeneous conditions with participation of phenols, when the used alkaline catalyst is recovered in the process without the formation of waste waters.     

Structure of tetragonal martensite in the In<Subscript>95.42</Subscript>Cd<Subscript>4.58</Subscript> cast alloy

The structure of martensite in the In_95.42Cd_4.58 alloy has been studied by metallography, X-ray diffraction, dilatometry, and transmission electron microscopy. It has been shown that a massive structure built of colonies of tetragonal lamellar plates divided by a twin boundary {101}FCT is formed in the alloy under cooling below the martensite FCC → FCT transition temperature. The alloy recrystallizes after a cycle of FCT → FCC → FCT transitions with a decrease in the grain size by several times compared with the initial structure such fashion that the size of massifs and individual martensite lamella in the massif correlates with the change in the size of the alloy grain. Using thermal cycling, it has been revealed that the alloy tends to stabilize the high-temperature phase.     

Platinum(II) cationic complexes with derivatives of 2-acyl-1,3-cyclopentanedions

cis-Diammineplatinum(II) complexes containing 2-acyl-1,3-cyclopentadion fragments as a bidentate acido ligand were prepared by the transformation of cis-diamminediiodoplatinum(II) to cis-diamminesulfatoplatinum(II) under the action of silver sulfate with the subsequent treatment of the resulting complex by barium hydroxide and by the reaction of the synthesized base with a twofold amount of 2-acyl-1,3-cyclopentanedion. The products are the cationic complexes of cis-diammineplatinum(II) and contain 2-acyl-1,3-cyclopentanedionate as a bidentate acido ligand, which chelates platinum atom by the carbonyl groups of side acyl chain and one group connected with five-membered cycle, whereas a 2-acyl-1,3-cyclopentadion enolate anion forms counter ion.
