New nonlinear σ-model with N=4 extended supersymmetry

A new nonlinear -model with N=4 supersymmetry in d=2 is constructed in terms of a N=2 tensor multiplet in d=4. Four equivalent formulations of the theory in superspace are obtained. Investigation of the interaction between zinc oxide and phosgene

It has been shown that in the interaction of zinc oxide and phosgene, the most active are the samples having oxygen vacancies. A mechanism for this process is suggested.

A new finite N = 2 supersymmetric sigma model with higher derivatives in four dimensions

A new finite N = 2 supersymmetric sigma model with higher derivatives in four dimensions is formulated. The action of the model is determined in N = 2, d = 4 superspace in terms of N = 2 chiral real superfields. The Lagrangian of the theory under consideration is evaluated in N = 1 super-space and in components. By the methods of N = 2 superfield perturbation theory, it is shown that the constructed N = 2 model is ultraviolet-finite in all orders of quantum perturbation theory in 4-dimensional space-time.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 4, pp. 85–92, April, 1990.     

Supercritical convective motions in a cubic cavity

The article reports the results of an experimental investigation of the convective instability of air in a cubic cavity with a height of 4 cm, at whose horizontal boundaries there was set up a homogeneous distribution of the temperature, while, at the vertical boundaries, the temperature varied linearly from a maximal value at the lower horizontal boundary to a minimal value at the upper boundary. Differential thermocouples were installed inside the cavity, whose readings were used to record the development of convection and to determine the form of the convective motion and its intensity. A study is made of the effect of small angular deviations of the model from the position with which mechanical equilibrium is possible in the model.     

Gauge-invariant sigma models in N=2 superspace

We construct a new broad class of gauge-invariant nonlinear sigma models in N=2 superspace. The dimensional reduction of the theories obtained to d=2 leads to N=4 nonlinear sigma models which are devoid of ultraviolet divergence in all orders of perturbation theory.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 2, pp. 49–53, February, 1989.
