Structural changes of Zr x Cu100-x metallic glasses investigated by low temperature specific heat measurements

Amorphous alloys of Zr _x Cu_100–x (55x72) quenched from the melt are investigated by low temperature specific heat measurements. The influence of concentrationx, temperature of the melt before the quenching process and heat treatment on the electronic density of states, the Debye temperature and the superconducting transition temperature is examined. The latter one is the most affected value by structural relaxation while the specific heat in the normal conducting region remains nearly unchanged.

Contributions to the Chemistry of Phosphorus. 203. (t-BuSi)₄P₃Cl₃ – The First Silaphosphane with a Structure Analogous to Norcubane The reaction of t-BuSiCl₃ with LiAl(PH₂)₄ yields the compound (t-BuSi)₄P₃Cl₃ ( 1 ), which has been isolated in pure form. According to NMR spectroscopic investigations and an X-ray single-crystal analysis, 1 is 2,4,6,7-tetra-tert-butyl-2,4,7-trichloro-1,3,5-triphospha-2,4,6,7-tetrasilatricyclo[3.1.1.0^3,6]heptane and thus the first silaphosphane with a structure analogous to norcubane. The compound crystallizes monoclinically in the space group P2₁/n with a = 1102.1 pm, b = 1609.2 pm, c = 1612.8 pm, β = 90.90° and Z = 4. The main structural feature is a cube alternately composed of Si and P, from which one phosphorus atom has been removed. The Si atoms are each substituted by t-Bu groups, the three adjacent to the missing corner additionally by Cl atoms.

The First Polyiodo Complex – Triethylsulfoniumtriiodomercurate(II)-tris(diiodine), (Et₃S)[Hg₂I₆]_1/2 · 3 I₂ After Raman spectroscopic investigation of the system HgI₂/Et₃SI_x, x = 3, 5, 7, triethylsulfoniumtriiodomercuratetris(diiodine), (Et₃S)[Hg₂I₆]_1/2 · 3 I₂ was synthesized by reacting of HgI₂ and liquid Et₃SI₇. The compound crystallizes at room temperature triclinically in the space group P1 with a = 879.4(7), b = 1 209.1(5), c = 1 291.5(5) pm, α = 96.16(3)°, β = 103.82(6)°, γ = 99.05(5)° and Z = 2. The crystal structure is composed of disordered Et₃S⁺ cations, the centrosymmetric complex anion [HgI_2/2I₂]₂^2? and three connecting iodine molecules I₂.

Formation of cyclic Amidiniumiodides and -polyiodides from 1,3,5-Trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine and Iodine The reaction of 1,3,5-trimethyl-hexahydro-1,3,5-triazine (CH₃NCH₂)₃ with iodine in the molar ratio (CH₃NCH₂)₃:I₂ = 2:1 gives the new compound 1,3,5-trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-iodide C₆H₁₄N₃I. This iodide adds one mole I₂ and forms 1,3,5-trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-triiodide C₆H₁₄N₃I₃. The crystal structure analysis shows a cation, in which two methyl groups and five ring atoms are planar arranged. The third methyl group stands axial to the ring. 1,3,5-Trimethyl-tetrahydro-1,3,5-triazinium-pentaiodide is formed by adding a further mole I₂.
