Asymptotic normality of a robust kernel estimator of the regression function for functional ergodic data: Case of an unknown scale parameter

Under a nonparametric robust regression model, we consider the problem of estimating the score function ${\psi }_x$ for a fixed x in a functional space and with unknown scale parameter. The principal aim of this work is to establish the asymptotic normality of this estimator for a stationary ergodic process without any use of traditional mixing conditions.     

Rapid One-Pot Synthesis of Alkane-α,ω-Diylbisphosphonic Acids from Dihalogenoalkanes Under Microwave Irradiation

A one-pot, two-step synthesis of alkylenebisphosphonic acids from dihalogenoalkanes was performed under microwave irradiation. The reaction is very rapid and convenient for the synthesis of small samples of alkylenebisphosphonic acids.     

Correlation analysis on data sets to detect infectious agents in the airways by ion mobility spectrometry of exhaled breath

A correlation analysis of peaks found in IMS-Chromatograms was carried out to show the potential of the method in clinical applications. As an example, the data of exhaled breath of patients suffering infections of Pseudomonas were compared to healthy non-smokers. Using a rank sum calculation and providing a correlation table of all peaks found, delivers the basis for visualisation of highest ranked analytes. In addition, a consideration of positive and negative correlated peaks could support sub-grouping, if present. A set of signals could be found for discriminating the two groups of patients using MCC-IMS. Investigations of exhaled breath using ion mobility spectrometry seems to provide a promising means for the non-invasive identification of patients which are colonized or infected with bacteria such as Pseudomonas aeruginosa.     

Phase-transfer catalyzed asymmetric arylacetate alkylation

Phenethyl arylacetates are alkylated under phase-transfer conditions with cinchona catalysts with alkyl halides in high yield with excellent enantioselectivity (84-99% ee) following recrystallization. Cinchonidine (CD) derived catalyst gave the (R)-product and cinchonine (CN) catalyst produced the (S)-product. The phenethyl (PE) ester group is removed, using ammonium formate and catalytic Pd/C, to give alkylated carboxylic acid products in high selectivity. The utility of the approach is demonstrated by a direct synthesis of (S)-naproxen^™.     

Green Synthesis of Poly(aminomethylenephosphonic) Acids

The reaction of polyamines with phosphorous acid and formaldehyde in water under focused microwave irradiation provides a facile and rapid synthesis of poly(aminomethylenephosphonic) acids.     

Physical properties of ZnO thin films deposited by spray pyrolysis technique

Thin films of ZnO have been prepared on glass substrates at different thicknesses by spray pyrolysis technique using 0.2 M aqueous solution of zinc acetate. X-ray diffraction reveals that the films are polycrystalline in nature having hexagonal wurtzite type crystal structure. The resistivity at room temperature is of the order 10⁻² Ω cm and decreased as the temperature increased. Films are highly transparent in the visible region. The dependence of the refractive index, n, and extinction coefficient, k, on the wavelength for a sprayed film is also reported. Optical bandgap, E_g, has been reported for the films. A shift from E_g = 3.21 eV to 3.31 eV has been observed for deposited films.     

Preparation of ZnO-doped Al films by spray pyrolysis technique

Al-doped zinc oxide (AZO) thin films have been prepared by spray pyrolysis (SP) technique of zinc acetate and aluminium nitrate, and the effect of thickness on structural and optical properties has been investigated. The structural and optical characteristics of the AZO films were examined by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and double-beam spectrophotometry. These films, deposited on glass substrates at an optimal substrate temperature (T_S = 450 °C), have a polycrystalline texture with a hexagonal structure. Transmission measurements showed that for visible wavelengths, the AZO films have an average transmission of over 90%. The optical parameters have been calculated. The dependence of the refractive index, n, and extinction coefficient, k, on the wavelength for the sprayed films is also reported. Optical band gap of AZO is 3.30 and 3.55 eV, respectively, depending on the film thicknesses.
