A new method for the solution of the damped Burgers' equation is described. The marker method relies on the definition of a convective field associated with the underlying partial differential equation; the information about the approximate solution is associated with the response of an ensemble of markers to this convective field. Some key aspects of the method, such as the selection of the shape function and the initial loading, are discussed in some details. Amphiphilic block copolymers of poly(acrylic acid‐b‐butyl acrylate) were prepared by reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer polymerization in a one‐pot reaction. These copolymers were characterized by NMR, static and dynamic light scattering, tensiometry, and size exclusion chromatography. The aggregation characteristics of the copolymers corresponded to those theoretically predicted for a star micelle. In a butyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate emulsion polymerization, low amounts of these copolymers could stabilize latices with solid contents up to 50%. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Bis(triphenylphosphine)(η-cyclohexa-1,3-diene)rhenium trihydride, (Ph3P)2(η-C6H8)ReH3 (I) crystallises in the space group C2/c with cell dimensions a 22.76(2), b 10.14(1) c 29.813(6) Å, β 97.69(8)°. The final refinement of 126 variables using 1580 non-zero reflections resulted in a final R value of 0.064. In spite of uncertainties in some of the atomic positions, the structure of I is compatible with a trihydrido diene compound with a distorted pentagonal bipyramidal configuration, rather than with a dihydrido cyclohexenyl compound having an “agostic” CH ? Trivalent phosphorus compounds are promoters for methyl formate homologation to ethanol and ethyl formate catalyzed by ruthenium compounds in the presence of iodide at 220°C and 27 MPa of synthesis gas. Under these conditions the phosphines are quaternized, but decomposition of phosphonium salts occurs during the reaction. Promotion is also observed for methyltriphenyl-phosphonium bromide and triphenylphosphine sulfide, but benzyltrimethyl-ammonium bromide, triphenylarsine, and triphenylantimony are not effective. The major ruthenium species present is Ru(CO)3I3- but with triphenylantimony a trimethylantimony complex, Ru(CO)2(Sb(CH3)3)2I2, can be isolated in high yield. 相似文献

Following a myocardial infarction (MI) cells die or are damaged and their contents leak into the blood circulation, resulting
in elevated serum levels of various enzymes, proteins, and organic molecules. Over the past few decades, it has become standard
practice to employ the detection of these elevated substances as markers for the confirmation of MIs and to monitor MI patients’
response to treatment. Although it has previously been shown that cytochrome-c, a small respiratory protein, is among those elevated, the lack of a suitable detection system has prevented its routine
use in the diagnosis of MIs. We present a preliminary study in which chemiluminescence was employed to detect elevated levels
of cytochrome-c in the serum of MI patients. The technique, which is specific for c-type proteins, is approx 30 times more sensitive than the traditional Coomassie blue stain and can detect as little as 0.03
μg of protein. It also has potential for diagnostic use in other diseases that are characterized by mitochondrial damage. 相似文献

Optically active bicyclic beta-lactams were synthesized, starting from 2-H-delta 2-thiazolines and Meldrum's acid derivatives. Several methods to accomplish an ester hydrolysis without damaging the beta-lactam framework were investigated. A rapid CsOH saponification of the beta-lactam methyl esters was developed and protonation of the Cs-carboxylates by Amberlite (IR-120 H+) afforded a series of bicyclic beta-lactam carboxylic acids. Moreover, a convenient method for the synthesis of 2-H-delta 2-thiazolinecarboxylic acid methyl ester 2 was developed. Bicyclic beta-lactam carboxylic acids 7a-g and aldehydes 4a-d were screened for their affinity to the bacterial periplasmic chaperone PapD using a surface plasmon resonance technique. beta-Lactams substituted with large acyl substitutents showed better binding to the chaperone than the native C-terminal peptide PapG 8, demonstrating that bicyclic beta-lactams constitute a new class of potential bacterial chaperone inhibitors. 相似文献

Several aspects of past and current studies in the area of iminium salt photochemistry are discussed. Investigations of olefin-iminium salt photoaddition and photocyclization reactions are reviewed and conclusions about electron-transfer pathways for fluorescence quenching and reaction are discussed. The results of recent studies of alcohol and ether photoaddition to 2-phenyl-1-pyrrolinium salts are presented. These C-C bond forming processes occur in moderate yields to produce β-amino alcohol or ether products. In addition, alcohols and ethers serve as efficient quenchers of pyrrolinium salt fluorescence. Rate constants for quenching appear to be dependent upon both the oxidation potential of the alcohols and ethers and the availability of C-H bond α to oxygen. This data along with deuterium isotope effects on quenching combine to suggest a common mechanism for both fluorescence quenching and photoaddition. The nature of this mechanism is tested using the comparative quenching effeciencies of the tertiary alcohols t-butyl alcohol and 1,2,2-trimethyl-1-cyclopropanol. The latter alcohol having a weak C-C bond adjacent to the hydroxyl function quenches the fluorescence of 2-phenyl-1-pyrrolium salts at a rate two orders of magnitude greater than for t-butyl alcohol. The observations made are interpreted in terms of a sequential electron-proton transfer mechanism for quenching and photoaddition. Lastly, the relationship of iminium salt photochemical studies to other investigations of electron-transfer photochemistry is discussed. 相似文献
