The room temperature growth of gallium atoms on the highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG) surface has been performed. The gallium atoms were deposited by thermal evaporation method in an ultra high vacuum system at a base pressure 5 × 10−10 torr. The X-ray photo electron spectroscopy (XPS) studies had been performed to confirm the presence of gallium atoms on HOPG surface. Scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STM) technique was employed to study the surface morphology of the clean HOPG surface and gallium covered HOPG surfaces which recognize the formation of gallium induced nanostructures. The deconvoluted XPS core level spectra of C (1s) and Ga (3d) demonstrate the possible interaction between substrate and the adsorbate atoms. The STM analysis revealed that the gallium deposition on HOPG led to significant change in the surface morphology. It was observed that the Ga atoms adsorbed as layer structure on HOPG surface for low coverage while quasi one-dimensional chain like nanostructure (1 ± 0.2 nm) has been formed for higher Ga coverage. The nanostructured surfaces induced by Ga deposition are found to be stable and could be used as a template for the growth of metallic nanostructures.  相似文献

Background  

The link between early blood- brain barrier (BBB) breakdown and endothelial cell activation in acute stroke remain poorly defined. We hypothesized that P-selectin, a mediator of the early phase of leukocyte recruitment in acute ischemia is also a major contributor to early BBB dysfunction following stroke. This was investigated by examining the relationship between BBB alterations following transient ischemic stroke and expression of cellular adhesion molecule P-selectin using a combination of magnetic resonance molecular imaging (MRMI), intravital microscopy and immunohistochemistry. MRMI was performed using the contrast, gadolinium diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid (Gd-DTPA) conjugated to Sialyl Lewis X (Slex) where the latter is known to bind to activated endothelium via E- or P selectins. Middle cerebral artery occlusion was induced in male C57/BL 6 wild-type (WT) mice and P-selectin-knockout (KO) mice. At 24 hours following middle cerebral artery occlusion, T1 maps were acquired prior to and following contrast injection. In addition to measuring P- and E-selectin expression in brain homogenates, alterations in BBB function were determined immunohistochemically by assessing the extravasation of immunoglobulin G (IgG) or staining for polymorphonuclear (PMN) leukocytes. In vivo assessment of BBB dysfunction was also investigated optically using intravital microscopy of the pial circulation following the injection of Fluorescein Isothiocyanate (FITC)-dextran (MW 2000 kDa).  相似文献

A safer, greener, and more effective reaction methodology for the synthesis of dihydroquinazolinones (DHQs) has been developed. The deep eutectic solvent (DES) ZnCl2/urea employed in this study efficiently accelerated the cyclization of 2-aminobenzamide with different aldehydes (aromatic and heteroaromatic) to afford the target scaffolds without the generation of any oxidized product. This method has exhibited remarkable advantages such as quick reaction time, mild reaction conditions, high yield (82%–98%), operational simplicity, and selectivity. The approach was observed to be tolerant to electron-donating and electron-withdrawing functional groups. Green metric parameters (AEf, OE, AE, RME, CE, etc.) determined further aided this greener chemical approach.  相似文献

Occurrence of gear rattle in transmission systems can result in severe vibration and noise, which in applications such as automobiles is an important source of user discomfort. As a result , the reduction of the rattling noise has attracted lot of concerns. The rattling noise level is affected by several gearbox parameters, an understanding of which is essential to prevent the expensive design modifications at later stages of product development. To develop such understanding at the gearbox design stage, this paper analytically evaluates the gear parameters’ effect on the root mean square of the wheel gear acceleration under idling condition, which is known to be linearly correlated to the rattling noise level. Therefore, this evaluation allows for an investigation of the gear parameters’ influence on the rattling noise as well. This method is then verified by comparing the analytical results with the simulation results from a dynamic model built in SIMPACK as well as previously published experimental results. Thus, the proposed analytical evaluation method can optimize the gearbox specifications at the design stage to reduce the gear rattle noise level.  相似文献

The proteome of extremely thermophilic microorganisms affords a glimpse into the dynamics of microbial ecology of high temperature environments. The secretome, or extracellular proteome of these microorganisms, no doubt harbors technologically important enzymes and other thermostable biomolecules that, to date, have been characterized only to a limited extent. In the first of a two-part study on selected thermophiles, defining the secretome requires a sample preparation method that has no negative impact on all downstream experiments. Following efficient secretome purification, GeLC-MS2 analysis and prediction servers suggested probable protein secretion to complement experimental data. In an effort to define the extracellular proteome of the extreme thermophilic bacterium Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus, several techniques were considered regarding sample processing to achieve the most in-depth analysis of secreted proteins. Order of operation experiments, all including the C18 bead technique, demonstrated that two levels of sample purification were necessary to effectively desalt the sample and provide sufficient protein identifications. Five sample preparation combinations yielded 71 proteins and the majority described, as enzymatic and putative uncharacterized proteins, anticipate consolidated bioprocessing applications. Nineteen proteins were predicted by Phobius, SignalP, SecretomeP, or TatP for extracellular secretion, and 11 contained transmembrane domain stretches suggested by Phobius and transmembrane hidden Markov model. The sample preparation technique demonstrating the most effective outcome for C. saccharolyticus secreted proteins in this study, involved acetone precipitation followed by the C18 bead method in which 2.4% (63 proteins) of the predicted proteome was identified, including proteins suggested to have secretion and transmembrane moieties.  相似文献

Experimental workflow for the evaluation of sample cleanup techniques for the secretome of the thermophilic bacterium Caldicellulosiruptor saccharolyticus with possibility to traverse other similarly grown bacterium. Several sample purification methods were assessed individually as well as in combination with a C18 bead method in an effort to afford the greatest number of confidently identified proteins.
