External influence on magnetic properties of Fe-based nanocrystalline alloys

Amorphous and nanocrystalline ribbons of NANOPERM, FINEMET and HITPERM were studied by Mössbauer spectroscopy (MS) after the influence of external factors: different annealing atmospheres, tensile stress and several kinds of corrosion. MS is a suitable tool for such studies because the spectral parameters are very sensitive to changes in the vicinity of the probe — ⁵⁷Fe nuclei. The most sensitive parameters were hyperfine magnetic field in crystalline component, average hyperfine field in amorphous component and direction of net magnetic moments. Influence of external factors modified also the structure of the alloys, i.e. new or modified phases were identified by MS phase analysis.     

Synthesis and properties of 1-(6-methoxy)-2-benzothiazolyl)-2-pyridones

Substituted ]-(6-methoxy-2-benzothiazolyt)-2-pyridones were prepared from 2-amino-6-methoxybenzathiazate through N-(6-methoxy-2-benzothiazotyl) cyanvorearmileaznd-3-aryl-N-(6-methoxy-2-benzothiazolyt)-2-cyano-2-propenamides. The cyclization of the latter with malonodinitrile in the presence of piperidine gave the corresponding pyridones. Chemistry of 1-Alkoxy-1-glycosyl Radicals: The Manno- and Rhamnopyranosyl Series. Inversion of alpha- to beta-Pyranosides and the Fragmentation of Anomeric Radicals

The formation and stereoselective quenching of 1-mannopyranosyl radicals by a tributyltin hydride-mediated intramolecular 1,5-hydrogen abstraction sequence is described. A competing process is 1,4-hydrogen atom abstraction leading principally to glucopyran-2-ulosides. Fragmentation of the anomeric radical resulting in the formation of ring opened products is a problem in certain series. The chemistry is dictated to a considerable extent by the nature of the protecting groups employed with the 4,6-benzylidene series and, for rhamnose, the Ley 3,4-dispiroketal, being particularly susceptible to the 1,4-hydrogen atom abstraction but less to the fragmentation. Photochemical conditions are described, in which these side reactions are practically eliminated, and applied to the inversion of an alpha- to a beta-mannoside in a disaccharide.     

Thermal oxidation of cellulose investigated by chemiluminescence. The effect of magnesium and calcium carbonates and of different pHs

Whatman cellulose impregnated with calcium and magnesium carbonates was oxidized and chemiluminescence accompanying this oxidation has been measured. It was shown that magnesium ions in deacidified cellulose pulp promote the light emission significantly. On the other hand, acid papers give the more pronounced light signals at temperatures close to ambient. The relation between chemiluminescence runs and paper degradation has been implicated, with an attempt to extrapolate half-lives of paper samples to conditions close to ambient. Micro-method for the determination of roxithromycin in human plasma and urine by high-performance liquid chromatography using electrochemical detection

A simple and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic micro-method for the determination of roxithromycin in human plasma and urine is described. A dichloromethane extract of the sample was chromatographed on a C18 reversed-phase column with acetonitrile-83 mM ammonium acetate-methanol (55:23:22, v/v) adjusted to pH 7.5 with acetic acid as the mobile phase. Roxithromycin and the internal standard, erythromycin, were detected by dual coulometric electrodes operated in the oxidative screen mode. The applied cell potential of the screen electrode was set at +0.7 V and the sample electrode at +0.9 V. The intra- and inter-assay coefficients of variation were less than or equal to 7.0%. The detection limit (signal-to-noise ratio = 3) was 0.1 microgram/ml for both plasma and urine. A study of drug stability during sample storage at 4, 20 and 37 degrees C showed no degradation of roxithromycin. The method is convenient for clinical monitoring and pharmacokinetic studies.     

4‐Acetamido‐3,3,5,5‐[2H4]‐2,2,6,6‐tetra­([2H3]methyl)piperidin‐1‐yloxyl 0.33‐hydrate

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C₁₁H₅D₁₆N₂O₂·0.33H₂O, is formed by three crystallographically independent piperidin‐1‐yloxyl mol­ecules and a mol­ecule of water. The mol­ecules are crosslinked by nine hydrogen bonds into layers parallel with the ac plane. The water mol­ecule contributes to the stability of the low‐symmetry arrangement by four hydrogen bonds.     

The first tetranuclear vanadium(V) peroxo complex: Preparation, vibrational spectra and X-ray crystal structure of K6[V4O4(O2)8(PO4)]·9H2O

The vanadium(V) peroxo phosphato complex K₇[V₄O₄(O₂)₈(PO₄)]·9H₂O has been obtained from the KVO₃---KH₂PO₄---KOH---H₂O₂---H₂O---C₂H₅OH system. The X-ray structural analysis revealed a tetranuclear anionic structure in which two dinuclear [V₂O₂(O)₂)₂(μ-η¹ : η²-O₂)₂] units are connected by the μ₄-PO₄ group.     

A simple and high‐resolution HPLC‐PDA method for simultaneous quantification of local anesthetics in in vitro buccal permeation enhancement studies

A simple, isocratic, high‐resolution and prompt HPLC‐PDA method was developed and validated for the simultaneous quantification of prilocaine (PCL) and lidocaine (LCL) hydrochlorides in in vitro buccal iontophoresis‐driven permeation studies. A reversed‐phase C₁₈ column (250 mm x 4.6 mm, 3μm, 110Å) was used for the chromatographic separation. The mobile phase contained acetonitrile: 0.1M sodium phosphate buffer, pH 7.0 (1:1, v/v), plus 0.05% (v/v) diethylamine. The isocratic flow rate was set at 1 mL/min and the detection wavelength was 203 nm. PCL and LCL eluted in 8.9 min and 13 min, respectively, and the system suitability parameters varied within an acceptable range. The method was selective, sensitive, precise, accurate and robust, producing a linear plot at the concentration range of 0.25 to 10 µg/mL. The application of this method was demonstrated by a significant enhancement of the permeation of PCL and LCL with the application of iontophoresis (1 mA/cm² per 1 h) through isolated porcine esophageal epithelium. The amount of the drug retained in the epithelium also increased with the application of an electrical current. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Cytotoxicity of Amino-BODIPY Modulated via Conjugation with 2-Phenyl-3-Hydroxy-4(1H)-Quinolinones

The combination of cytotoxic amino-BODIPY dye and 2-phenyl-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolinone (3-HQ) derivatives into one molecule gave rise to selective activity against lymphoblastic or myeloid leukemia and the simultaneous disappearance of the cytotoxicity against normal cells. Both species′ conjugation can be realized via a disulfide linker cleavable in the presence of glutathione characteristic for cancer cells. The cleavage liberating the free amino-BODIPY dye and 3-HQ derivative can be monitored by ratiometric fluorescence or by the OFF-ON effect of the amino-BODIPY dye. A similar cytotoxic activity is observed when the amino-BODIPY dye and 3-HQ derivative are connected through a non-cleavable maleimide linker. The work reports the synthesis of several conjugates, the study of their cleavage inside cells, and cytotoxic screening.
