Terphenyls with two lateral ortho-fluoro-substituents have proved to be excellent host materials for ferroelectric (SC*) mixtures. The compounds reported here are biphenyls with the same arrangement of lateral substituents but with a trans-4-alkylcyclohexylethyl moiety as one of the terminal substituents. Such three ring systems retain the ability to generate the SC mesophase and have low melting points. Low temperature lithiation procedures were used to prepare phenylboronic acids, which were then used in palladium catalysed cross-coupling procedures to prepare the desired compounds. The effect of molecular structure on the mesophase types and thermal stabilities is discussed and comparisons are made with analogous terphenyls and biphenyls with open chain terminal substituents.  相似文献

Novel carbohydrate-based phospholipids containing two saturated C(12) (dilauroyl ribo-phosphocholine) (DLRPC), C(14) (dimyristoyl ribo-phosphocholine) (DMRPC), and C(20) (diarachadonyl ribo-phosphocholine) (DARPC) carboxylic acid chains were synthesized. The physical properties of the supramolecular structures formed by these compounds were compared to those formed by their direct glycerol analogues dilauroyl phosphocholine (DLPC), dimyristoyl phosphocholine (DMPC), and diarachadonyl phosphocholine (DAPC). Modulated differential scanning calorimetry (MDSC) and X-ray diffraction data indicated that with chain lengths < or =14 carbons, the carbohydrate backbone increased the thermal stability of the bilayer below the phase-transition temperature (T(m)) as compared to the glycerol-based lipids. With longer chains (C(20)), the bilayer structure was destabilized as compared to glycerol-based lipids. NMR studies of a DMRPC vesicle dispersion reveal split choline headgroup signals and distinct magnetization transfer effects arising from the "inner" and "outer" surfaces of the bilayer vesicle. Modulated differential scanning calorimetry also demonstrated that glycerol- and carbohydrate-based lipids mix, as evidenced by a single intermediate T(m). In addition, carbohydrate-based lipid/cholesterol mixtures exhibited a decrease in enthalpy with an increase in cholesterol concentration. Unlike glycerol phospholipids, carbohydrate lipids were resistant to enzymatic degradation by phospholipase A(2) (PLA(2)).  相似文献

A method was developed for the simultaneous determination of residues of pirimicarb (I) and its desmethylformamido (II) and desmethyl (III) metabolites in plums, peas, green beans, broad beans, carrots, and swedes. The compounds were extracted with ethyl acetate and determined, without cleanup, by reversed-phase liquid chromatography and electrospray mass spectrometry (MS). MS and MS/MS were used concurrently to monitor the protonated molecules and their common collision-induced dissociation product. The limit of detection (signal-to-noise ratio of >3) was 1 ng/mL, corresponding to crop concentrations of <0.0015 mg/kg. All 3 compounds were determined in plums, broad beans, and green beans by MS without interference. Interferences which affected the determination of desmethylformamido-pirimicarb in peas, and to a lesser extent in carrots and swedes, were eliminated by MS/ MS. Recoveries for all 3 compounds, at 0.05 mg/kg for plums and 0.005 mg/kg for other commodities, were in the range 83-124%. No interconversion of I, II and III, occurred during extraction, and the compounds were stable in extracts for > or = 7 days under appropriate conditions.  相似文献

The aim of the present study was to provide the official wine control authorities with an internationally validated method for the determination of 3-methoxy-1,2-propanediol (3-MPD) and cyclic diglycerols (CycDs)-both of which are recognized as impurities of technical glycerol-in different types of wine. Because glycerol gives a sweet flavor to wine and contributes to its full-body taste, an economic incentive is to add glycerol to a wine to mask its poor quality. Furthermore, it is known that glycerol, depending on whether it is produced from triglycerides or petrochemicals, may contain considerable amounts of 3-MPD in the first case or CycDs in the second. However, because these compounds are not natural wine components, it is possible to detect glycerol added to wine illegally by determining the above-mentioned by-products. To this end, one of the published methods was adopted, modified, and tested in a collaborative study. The method is based on gas chromatographic/mass spectrometric analysis of diethyl ether extracts after salting out with potassium carbonate. The interlaboratory study for the determination of 3-MPD and CycDs in wine was performed in 11 laboratories in 4 countries. Wine samples were prepared and sent to participants as 5 blind duplicate test materials and 1 single test material. The concentrations covered ranges of 0.1-0.8 mg/L for 3-MPD and 0.5-1.5 mg/L for CycDs. The precision of the method was within the range predicted by the Horwitz equation. HORRAT values obtained for 3-MPD ranged from 0.8 to 1.7, and those obtained for CycDs ranged from 0.9 to 1.3. Average recoveries were 104 and 109%, respectively.  相似文献

A procedure for the native two-dimensional electrophoresis of peanut and hazelnut proteins is described. Proteins were solubilised after acetone treatment using a combination of 3-[(3-cholamidopropyl)dimethylammonio]-1-propanesulfonate (CHAPS) and tetramethylene sulphone. These extracts were analysed by a combination of isoelectric focusing in the presence of lactose in immobilized pH gradients followed by charge shift electrophoresis. Immunoblot analysis, using sera from nut allergic patients, allowed the identification of a peanut and hazelnut allergen with identical isoelectric point and apparent molecular mass. These proteins were recovered from duplicate gels using a mixture of formic acid, acetonitrile (ACN) and isopropanol. The molecular masses for both proteins, determined by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionisation-mass spectrometry (MALDI-MS), were 4826 Da.  相似文献
