Structural characterisation of the H-bonded [MnII(OH2)2...(OCH3)2MnIII] motif: a model for resting state hydroxylic solvent coordination in M(II)-M(III) enzymes

A mixed-valence dimanganese complex with two water ligands bound to the Mn(II) ion and two methoxide ligands bound to the Mn(III) ion in a H-bonded arrangement has been structurally characterised and models possible resting state water/hydroxide coordination in purple acid phosphatases.     

Preparation of a novel diphosphine-palladium macrocyclic complex possessing a molecular recognition site. Oxidative addition studies

A disphosphine-palladium(0) complex capable of recognising barbiturates has been prepared. Oxidative addition studies with a barbitiurate:aryl iodide conjugate provided new Pd(ii) complexes where the positioning of the Pd-bound aryl group is controlled by the molecular recognition event.     

Chemical shifts in Al—Si compounds by Zr Lα photo-electron spectrometry

The excitation of XPS spectra by Zr Lα radiation has the advantage that both the 1s peaks and their KLL Auger series are excited. This paper compares the peak positions, of metals, oxide and certain aluminosilicates, obtained using Zr Lα radiation and thus demonstrates a dependence of the Auger parameter on structures. This method of characterisation is particularly suitable for minerals such as silicates which are prone to charging, but is not possible for silicon with the conventional Mg and Al sources.     

RESTRICTED LIE ALGEBRAS WITH MAXIMAL 0-PIM

In this paper it is shown that the projective cover of the trivial irreducible module of a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra is induced from the one dimensional trivial module of a maximal torus. As a consequence, the number of the isomorphism classes of irreducible modules with a fixed p-character for a finite-dimensional solvable restricted Lie algebra L is bounded above by p ^MT(L), where MT(L) denotes the maximal dimension of a torus in L. Finally, it is proved that in characteristic p > 3 the projective cover of the trivial irreducible L-module is induced from the one-dimensional trivial module of a torus of maximal dimension, only if L is solvable.     

5‐(2‐Pyridyl)‐1,3‐di­thia­ne‐2‐thione

The title compound, C₉H₉NS₃, crystallizes with two mol­ecules in the asymmetric unit. In both mol­ecules, the di­thia­ne‐2‐thione rings adopt a symmetric half‐boat conformation with the C atom opposite the C—S_thione bond out of the plane. The pyridine ring is in an equatorial position and is twisted out of the plane of the half‐boat by 82.7 (2) and 84.5 (2)° in the two mol­ecules, so that the N atom is trans to the axial C—H bond in both cases.
