Naphthalimide‐phthalimide derivatives (NDPDs) have been synthesized and combined with an iodonium salt, N‐vinylcarbazole, amine or 2,4,6‐tris(trichloromethyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine to produce reactive species (i.e., radicals and cations). These generated reactive species are capable of initiating the cationic polymerization of epoxides and/or the radical polymerization of acrylates upon exposure to very soft polychromatic visible lights or blue lights. Compared with the well‐known camphorquinone based systems used as references, the novel NDPD based combinations employed here demonstrate clearly higher efficiencies for the cationic polymerization of epoxides under air as well as the radical polymerization of acrylates. Remarkably, one of the NDPDs (i.e., NDPD2) based systems is characterized by an outstanding reactivity. The structure/reactivity/efficiency relationships of the investigated NDPDs were studied by fluorescence, cyclic voltammetry, laser flash photolysis, electron spin resonance spin trapping, and steady state photolysis techniques. A newly developed method using an exponentially modified Gaussian peak shape model produces results that are more precise and less subject to baseline noise than previous methods for characterizing chromatographic band broadening. The method requires only precisely measurable experimental peak parameters: peak retention time, peak height, peak area, and peak centroid (first moment). Accuracy and precision of the new method were compared with other digital approaches by using computer-synthesized peaks and experimental chromatographic data from many HPLC columns. The proposed method offers a reasonable compromise between accuracy, precision, and convenience. A rapid visual estimate of peak skew can be made by inspecting peak shape and referring to a calibration plot involving peak parameters. Peak variance and skew data from this method are also useful for finding column dispersion corrections in size-exclusion chromatography calibrations. 相似文献

Complexes of the form (Tp*)MoOCl(p-OC(6)H(4)X) and (Tp*)MoO(p-OC(6)H(4)X)(2) (Tp* = hydrotris(3,5-dimethyl-1-pyrazolyl)borate and X = OEt, OMe, Et, Me, H, F, Cl, Br, I, and CN) were examined by electrochemical techniques and gas-phase photoelectron spectroscopy to probe the effect of the remote substituent (X) on electron-transfer reactions at the oxomolybdenum core. Cyclic voltammetry revealed that all of these neutral Mo(V) compounds undergo a quasireversible one-electron oxidation (Mo(VI)/Mo(V)) and a quasireversible one-electron reduction (Mo(V)/Mo(IV)) at potentials that linearly depend on the electronic influence (Hammett sigma(p) parameter) of X. The first ionization energies for (Tp*)MoO(p-OC(6)H(4)X)(2) (X = OEt, OMe, H, F, and CN) were determined by photoelectron spectroscopy. A nearly linear correlation was found for the Mo(VI)/Mo(V) oxidation potentials in solution and the gas-phase ionization energies. Calculated heterogeneous electron-transfer rate constants show a slight systematic dependence on the substituent. 相似文献

Potential curves for the CH+ X1Σ+ and A 1Π states are constructed using the best experimental and theoretical information. The A 1Π curve is used to calculate the locations and widths of rotationally quasi-bound levels. Oscillator strengths from v'' = 0 of the X state to the shape resonances are also calculated. Cell membranes are essential barriers in Nature. To understand their properties and functions and to develop desirable applications, a simple and elegant approach is to study membranes that mimic the cell membrane. Lipid bilayers represent simple models that are physiologically representative when in the form of mixtures of various lipids, but they are not adequately stable even when covered with amphipathic proteins or when combined with polymers, thus preventing technological applications. This makes necessary the design of completely synthetic membranes. In this respect, amphiphilic copolymers that self‐assemble under dilute aqueous conditions and generate supramolecular polymer vesicles or films are ideal candidates for synthetic membranes. Their versatility in terms of chemistry and properties (permeability, mechanical stability, thickness), if appropriately designed, enable the insertion of biological molecules, such as membrane proteins and biopores, or the attachment of biomolecules at their surfaces. Here, we present the domain of synthetic membranes based on amphiphilic copolymers beginning with their generation and up to their applications in medicine, the food industry, and technology. Even though significant progress has been made in combining them with membrane proteins, open questions remain with respect to desired properties that could accommodate biological molecules and support further development of the field, from both the point of view of fundamental understanding and of applications. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of branching point structures and densities is studied between azido‐containing hyperbranched polymers and cross‐linked nanogels on their loading efficiency of alkynyl‐containing dendron molecules. Hyperbranched polymers that contained “T”‐shaped branching linkage from which three chains radiated out and cross‐linked nanogels that contained “X”‐shaped branching linkage with four radiating chains are synthesized in microemulsion using either atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) or conventional radical polymerization (RP) technique. Both polymers have similar density of azido groups in the structure and exhibit similar hydrodynamic diameter in latexes before purification. Subsequent copper‐catalyzed azide–alkyne cycloaddition reactions between these polymers and alkynyl‐containing dendrons in various sizes (G1–G3) demonstrate an order of dendron loading efficiencies (i.e., final conversion of alkynyl‐containing dendron) as hyperbranched polymers > nanogels synthesized by ATRP > nanogels synthesized by RP. Decreasing the branching density or using smaller dendron molecules increases the click efficiency of both polymers. When G2 dendrons with a molecular weight of 627 Da are used to click with the hyperbranched polymers composed of 100% inimer, a maximum loading efficiency of G2 in the loaded hyperbranched polymer is 58% of G2 by weight. These results represent the first comparison between hyperbranched polymers and cross‐linked nanogels to explore the effect of branching structures on their loading efficiencies.

Transition‐metal phosphides (TMP) prepared by atomic layer deposition (ALD) are reported for the first time. Ultrathin Co‐P films were deposited by using PH3 plasma as the phosphorus source and an extra H2 plasma step to remove excess P in the growing films. The optimized ALD process proceeded by self‐limited layer‐by‐layer growth, and the deposited Co‐P films were highly pure and smooth. The Co‐P films deposited via ALD exhibited better electrochemical and photoelectrochemical hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activities than similar Co‐P films prepared by the traditional post‐phosphorization method. Moreover, the deposition of ultrathin Co‐P films on periodic trenches was demonstrated, which highlights the broad and promising potential application of this ALD process for a conformal coating of TMP films on complex three‐dimensional (3D) architectures. 相似文献

Four different measurement techniques: EPR, NAA, DLTS, and luminescence were applied to characterize the properties of chromium in silicon. The solubility of chromium in silicon was determined and its pairing reaction with boron was studied. The energy level atE c?0.23 eV was attributed to interstitial chromium and a second level atE v+0.27 eV was correlated to chromium-boron pairs. The luminescence band of the chromium-boron pairs was clearly identified. The properties of chromium are compared with those of other transition metal impurities in silicon crystals. 相似文献
