Dependence of Fluorescence Properties of Compounds from Psoralen,Angelicin, and Carbazole Series on the Character of Their Terminal Substituents

Absorption, luminescence excitation and emission spectra of nine compounds from 4,8,4'-trimethylpsoralen, 4,4'-dimethylangelicin, and 1,2,3,4-tetrahydrocarbazole series with various terminal substituents were studied in water and 2-propanol. Proceeding from the data obtained in the present and also some previous studies we have formulated the main rules concerning a general mechanism of changes in the fluorescence characteristics of DNA-specific dyes depending on their chemical structure, substrate properties, and measurement medium.     

Low-toxicity complexes with nitrogen-containing ligands as promising new agents for treatment and prevention of free radical states

A method for synthesis of complexes with 1,5-pentamethylenetetrazole ligand was proposed. These compounds hold promise for antioxidant treatment of so-called “free radical” diseases of different geneses, including those caused by unfavorable environmental factors. The antioxidant activity of the complexes synthesized was tested by two independent methods: by assessing the ability to inhibit lipid peroxidation and by measuring the SOD-like activity.     

Environmental problems and their solutions of using energy-rich substances for initiating devices

The current state of the problem of replacing the primary explosives used in industrial products for more secure and the necessity of such a change because of the high toxicity of metals currently used in standard means of initiation are discussed. Problems of toxicity of metals used in the primary explosives are also addressed.     

The application of mycelial wastes from microbiological production of antibacterial antibiotics as lubricating oil additives

The antiwear and antitear properties of mycelial wastes from production of antibacterial antibiotics have been studied. The waste mycelium from fucidin production has been shown to exhibit the best antiwear and antitear performance due to a higher percentage content of phosphorus and sulfur as compared to the mycelial wastes from production of other antibacterial antibiotics.     

Synthesis of actinomycin D analogs: XXIII. Actinocin derivatives containing azacrown fragments

A number of actinocin amides containing residues of aza-15-crown-5 and aza-18-crown-6 where crown fragments were separated from the heterocyclic chromophore by the residues of ω-amino acids were obtained as actinomycin D models.
