Hydrolytic degradation of cellulose was shown to take place during the activation procedure in distilled water during the dissolution procedure of cellulose samples from papers for size-exclusion chromatography analyses in the lithium chloride-N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAc) solution system. The use of dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide solution in the activation procedure prevents hydrolytic degradation of cellulose during the dissolution procedure, especially in the case of samples of aged papers with low pH. The use of the freeze-drying technique provides samples of cellulose ready-made for dissolution in lithium chloride-N,N-dimethylacetamide solution.  相似文献

The infrared (IR) spectra of cuboidic titanium carbide (TiC) nanocrystals have been studied at the density-functional-theory (DFT) level using the Becke-Perdew (BP) functional and triple-zeta quality basis sets augmented by one set of polarization functions (TZVP). The accuracy of the calculations was checked by DFT calculations using the Perdew-Burke-Ernzerhof hybrid functional (PBE0) and up to quadruple-zeta quality basis sets augmented by one set of polarization functions (QZVP). The calculated IR spectrum for Ti(14)C(13) (3 x 3 x 3) is found to be in fair agreement with the experimental IR spectrum obtained by infrared resonance-enhanced multiphoton ionization (IR-REMPI) measurements, whereas, for Ti(18)C(18) (4 x 3 x 3) and Ti(32)C(32) (4 x 4 x 4), the calculated IR spectra differ significantly from the experimental ones. The smallest TiC cluster (Ti(4)C(4), 2 x 2 x 2) considered has not been reported in any mass-spectrometer studies. The present DFT calculations show that the vibrational modes related to the in-plane vibrations of solid TiC are not observed in the IR-REMPI spectra of nanocrystals larger than Ti(14)C(13). Contrary to solid TiC, the studied TiC nanocrystals are nonmetallic with optical gaps of 0.62 eV (0.55 eV) and 0.028 eV (0.027 eV) for Ti(32)C(32) and Ti(108)C(108) (6 x 6 x 6), calculated at the time-dependent density-functional-theory (TDDFT) level using the BP functional. The HOMO-LUMO gaps obtained in the BP DFT calculations are given within parentheses. At the PBE0 DFT level, the HOMO-LUMO gaps for Ti(32)C(32) and Ti(108)C(108) are 1.74 and 0.32 eV, respectively.  相似文献

A method for calculating the various components of the magnetically induced current-density tensor using gauge-including atomic orbitals is described. The method is formulated in the framework of analytical derivative theory, thus enabling implementation at the Hartree-Fock self-consistent-field (HF-SCF) as well as at electron-correlated levels. First-order induced current densities have been computed up to the coupled-cluster singles and doubles level (CCSD) augmented by a perturbative treatment of triple excitations [CCSD(T)] for carbon dioxide and benzene and up to the full coupled-cluster singles, doubles, and triples (CCSDT) level in the case of ozone. The applicability of the gauge including magnetically induced current method to larger molecules is demonstrated by computing first-order current densities for porphin and hexabenzocoronene at the HF-SCF and density-functional theory level. Furthermore, a scheme for obtaining quantitative values for the induced currents in a molecule via numerical integration over the current flow is presented. For benzene, a perpendicular magnetic field induces a (field dependent) ring current of 12.8 nA T(-1) at the HF-SCF level using a triple-zeta basis set augmented with polarization functions (TZP). At the CCSD(T)/TZP level the induced current was found to be 11.4 nA T(-1). Gauge invariance and its relation to charge-current conservation is discussed.  相似文献

The molecular structures of cyclic group 6 transition-metal (M = Cr, Mo, W, Sg) oxides (M 3O 9 0/1?/2? ) species have been optimized at density functional theory (DFT) levels. The photoelectron spectra (PES) of M 3O 9 ? (M = Cr, Mo, W) were calculated at the time-dependent DFT and approximate coupled-cluster singles doubles (CC2) levels and compared with experimental results. The CC2 calculations did not yield any reliable PES, whereas the molecular structures can be identified by comparing PES obtained at the DFT level with experiment. Magnetically induced current densities were calculated at the DFT level using the gauge-including magnetically induced current (gimic) approach. The current strengths and current pathways of the neutral M3O9 and the dianionic M3O 9 2? (M = Cr, Mo) oxides were investigated and analyzed with respect to a previous prediction of d-orbital aromaticity for Mo3O9 anions. Current-density calculations provide ring-current strengths that are used to assess the degree of aromaticity. Comparison of current-density calculations and calculations of nucleus-independent chemical shifts (NICS) shows that NICS calculations are not a reliable tool for determining the degree of aromaticity of the metal oxides.  相似文献

An overview of applications of the recently developed gauge including magnetically induced current method (GIMIC) is presented. The GIMIC method is used to obtain magnetically induced current densities in molecules. It provides detailed information about electron delocalization, aromatic character, and current pathways in molecules. The method has been employed in aromaticity studies on hydrocarbons, complex multi-ring organic nanorings, M?bius twisted molecules, inorganic and all-metal molecular rings and open-shell species. Recent studies on hydrogen-bonded molecules indicate that GIMIC can also be used to estimate hydrogen-bond strengths without fragmentation of the system. Preliminary results are presented on the applicability of GIMIC for investigating current transport in molecules attached to clusters simulating molecular conductivity measurements. Advantages and limitations of the GIMIC method are reviewed and discussed.  相似文献

Coinage and alkali metal mixed clusters, M4Na- (M = Cu, Au) have been investigated experimentally using photoelectron spectroscopy and computationally at correlated ab initio levels. The related Cu4Li-, Ag4Li-, Ag4Na-, and Au4Li- clusters as well as the neutral Cu4Li2 and Cu4Na2 clusters have also been studied computationally. The calculations show that the two lowest isomers of the negatively charged clusters include a pyramidal C4v structure and a planar C2v species. For Cu4Li- and Cu4Na-, the C4v structure is calculated at correlated ab initio level to be 30.9 and 16.9 kJ/mol below the planar C2v isomer, whereas the planar isomers of Au4Li- and Au4Na- are found to be 29.7 and 49.4 kJ/mol below the pyramidal ones. For Ag4Li- and Ag4Na-, the pyramidal isomers are the lowest ones. Comparison of the calculated and measured photoelectron spectra of Cu4Na- and Au4Na- shows that the pyramidal Cu4Na- cluster of C4v symmetry and the planar Au4Na- of C2v symmetry are detected experimentally. Calculations of the magnetically induced current density in Cu4Li- and Cu4Li2 using the Gauge-Including Magnetically Induced Current (GIMIC) method show that strong ring currents are sustained mainly by the highest-occupied molecular orbital primarily derived from the Cu 4s. The GIMIC calculations thus show that the Cu4(2-) ring is -aromatic and that the d orbitals do not play any significant role for the electron delocalization effects. The present study does not support the notion that the square-planar Cu4(2-) is the first example of d-orbital aromatic molecules.  相似文献

Understanding of the aromatic properties and magnetically induced current densities of highly conjugated chromophores is important when designing molecules with strongly delocalized electronic structure. Linear extension of the triphyrin(2.1.1) skeleton with an annelated benzo[b]heterocycle fragment modifies the aromatic character by extending the electron delocalization pathway. Two-electron reduction leads to an antiaromatic triphyrin(2.1.1) ring and an aromatic benzo[b]heterocycle subunit. Current-density calculations provide detailed information about the observed pathways and their strengths.  相似文献

Small‐angle and wide‐angle X‐ray scattering and anomalous small‐angle X‐ray scattering were used to investigate proton‐conducting membranes prepared by radiation‐induced styrene grafting and sulfonation of commercial poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF‐g‐PS) films. The membranes retain the lamellar and highly oriented structure of the original PVDF films even through excessive grafting and sulfonation. The sulfonate groups aggregate in the central part of the amorphous layers, where they form a weakly ordered structure that does not show any preferred orientation. This structure is suggested to be lamellar with alternate metal‐sulfonated hydrate and PVDF‐g‐PS layers. The lamellar period is 15.1 Å. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. A relativistic direct perturbation theory approach has been implemented at the multiconfiguration Hartree–Fock level into the numerical program package LUCAS. The method has been applied to the closed-shell Be, Zn, Cd, and Hg atoms and to the rare gases Ne to Rn. The scalar relativistic valence-correlation correction to the rare gases is found to be very small, while for Zn, Cd, and Hg the first-order relativistic corrections to the valence-correlation energy are calculated to be −4.6, −6.3, and −17.4 mH, respectively. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
