Synthesis of (±)-biotin from a substituted 2,3-dehydrothiophane

(±)-Biotin has been synthesized from a mixture of cis- and allo-trisubstituted dehydrothiophanes by a scheme providing for the easy elimination of the accompanying allo-substituted thiophane in the form of an intermediate and not as the final isomeric allo-biotin. The imidazoline ring of biotin is formed from a dialkoxy-carbonyldiaminothiophane under the conditions of partial hydrolysis of one of the protective groups with the elimination of phosgene from the scheme of synthesis.All-Union Scientific-Research Vitamin Institute, Moscow. Reactions of aromatic acetylenic ethers with triethylgermane

Conclusions The addition of Et₃GeH to the phenoxy- and phenylthioacetylenes under the influence of (Ph₃P)₃RhCl is both nonstereo- and nonregiospecific. Synthesis and crystal structure of 2′-(3,5-dioxo-1,2,4-triazinane-1-yl)acetic acid and the product of its reaction with copper(II) chloride

A new organic compound, 2-(3,5-dioxo-1,2,4-triazinane-1-yl)acetic acid, was prepared by transit template synthesis, and its crystal structure was determined. Types of rotary crystal state of solid solutions of paraffins

Thermal deformations and polymorphous transformations of solid solutions of paraffins in C₁₇–C₁₉, C₁₉–C₂₁, C₂₁–C₂₃, C₂₂–C₂₄, and C₂₃–C₂₄ systems are investigated by thermal X-ray diffractometry using a temperature step of several tenths of a degree. It is examined how the length of a molecular chain of a homolog (n) and the difference in length (Δn) between the chains as well as the molecular composition of a solid solution affect these transitions, and the data are compared with those for the individual homologs of paraffins. Crystal structure of <Emphasis Type="Italic">tris</Emphasis>(1,10-phenanthroline) iron(II) dinitrate dihydrate

The structure of tris(1,10-phenanthroline)iron(II) dinitrate dihydrate [Fe(phen)₃](NO₃)₂·2H₂O was established by X-ray diffraction analysis. The role of hydrogen bonds in crystal packing is discussed.
