Stereochimie de l'hydrogenation des (±) Δ3(3a)-hydrindenones-4. Comparaison avec le cas de la (+) methyl-3 Δ3(3a)-hydrindenone-4 et de ses dioxolannes

We show that the four studied 4-hydrindenones (with or without a methyl substituant at C3 or C7a) give by hydrogenation on Raney nickel or on Pd/C, in various solvants, the cis 4-hydrindanones, by a kinetically controlled process. During the hydrogenation, the double bond can migrate only in the positions conjugated to the carbonyl group.In contrast, when the carbonyle is protected as a dioxolanne, the double bond is free to migrate around the five membered ring. In spite of this mobility the optical purity of the saturated dioxolannes formed is high. In the case of the (+)3-methyl Δ^3(3a) 4-hydrindenone, the enantiomeric hydrindanones $\text{9a}$ obtained by direct hydrogenation or with isomerization of the double bond are not the same. Therefore, the optical purity of the product is low, but its value allows an estimation of the relative importance of the two reaction pathways.     

CW dye laser emission in the range 7540–8880 Å

We report cw dye laser emission covering the range 7540–8880 Å with two cyanine dyes pumped by the red lines of a krypton laser.     

Bounded confidence and social networks

In the so-called bounded confidence model proposed by Deffuant et al, agents can influence each others opinion provided that the opinions are already sufficiently close enough. Simple models of firms emergence

We present a dynamical model of the emergence of firms as opposed to a flat labour market where entrepreneurs would recruit workers for each business opportunity. The model uses a preferential choice of partners based on previous collaborations experience. A sharp transition in the parameter space separates an ordered regime, where preferential links establish, from a disordered regime corresponding to a fast turnover of employees.     

Optical detection of electron spin resonance in CdTe

We report the optical detection of electron spin resonance in p-type CdTe at 1.7 K in optical pumping conditions. The Overhauser shift of the electronic resonance, of the order of 45 G, is related to the sign of the electron g-factor g¹. We measure $\text{g}{}^1\text{= -1.59±0.02}$. Using this g¹ value and the previous results on the Knight shift, we deduce the value of the electron wavefunction on Cd in CdTe, which is consistent with the value in CdS.     

Picosecond dynamics of hot carrier relaxation in highly excited multi-quantum well structures

Dynamics of hot carrier relaxation, exciton screening and subband level renormalization in GaAsAlGaAs multiple quantum well structures are investigated by time resolved measurements of optical absorption and gain following subpicosecond optical excitation. The cooling rate of the electron hole plasma in these two dimensional structures is approximately the same as for bulk GaAs at comparable photoexcitation density.     

High-aspect-ratio microdrilling in polymeric materials with intense KrF laser radiation

UV laser microdrilling of high-aspect-ratio holes has been studied by using an intense beam with a low numerical aperture (KrF laser). The UV laser ablation produces a minimum of thermal or mechanical damage on the target. Under some particular experimental conditions (many high-fluence pulses), it is shown that long deep holes are obtained with reproducible aspect ratio (up to K/d길) in a variety of materials. Experiments with polymers (PMMA, PC, PET, PI, PS, PEEK) show that the more absorbing the polymer is, the better the resolution. However highly absorbing materials exhibit a low ablation rate. These promising results on laser microdrilling can be extended to new applications, for example, when the beam/target relative movement is computer driven. For instance this approach can be applied to cutting micro-objects with complicated shape or to machining fragile or brittle materials.
