Exciton diffusion and photoluminescence quenching in conjugated polymer/fullerene heterostructures are studied by time-resolved photoluminescence. It is observed that heterostructures consisting of a spin-coated poly(p-phenylene vinylene) (PPV)-based derivative and evaporated C60 are ill-defined because of diffusion of C60 into the polymer, leading to an overestimation of the exciton diffusion length. This artifact is resolved by the use of a novel, thermally side-chain polymerizing and cross-linking fullerene derivative (F2D) containing two diacetylene moieties, forming a completely immobilized electron acceptor layer. With this heterostructure test system, an exciton diffusion length of 5 +/- 1 nm is derived for this PPV derivative from time-integrated luminescence quenching data.  相似文献

Fucosylation of glycans impacts a myriad of physiological and pathological processes. Inhibition of fucose expression emerges as a potential therapeutic avenue for example in cancer, inflammation, and infection. In this study, we found that protected 2-fluorofucose 1-phosphate efficiently inhibits cellular fucosylation with a four to seven times higher potency than known inhibitor 2FF, independently of the anomeric stereochemistry. Nucleotide sugar analysis revealed that both the α- and β-GDP-2FF anomers are formed inside the cell. In conclusion, we developed A2FF1P and B2FF1P as potent new tools for studying the role of fucosylation in health and disease and they are potential therapeutic candidates.  相似文献

Domain wall motion is detected for the first time during the transition to a ferroelastic and spin state ordered phase of a spin crossover complex. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction and resonant ultrasound spectroscopy (RUS) revealed two distinct symmetry-breaking phase transitions in the mononuclear Mn3+ compound [Mn(3,5-diBr-sal2(323))]BPh4, 1. The first at 250 K, involves the space group change CcPc and is thermodynamically continuous, while the second, PcP1 at 85 K, is discontinuous and related to spin crossover and spin state ordering. Stress-induced domain wall mobility was interpreted on the basis of a steep increase in acoustic loss immediately below the the Pc-P1 transition  相似文献

The structural and coordination properties of complexes formed upon the interaction of copper(II) and chromium(II) chlorides with dialkylimidazolium chloride (RMIm(+)Cl(-)) ionic liquids and glucose are studied by a combination of density functional theory (DFT) calculations and X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS). In the absence of the carbohydrate substrate, isolated mononuclear four-coordinated MeCl(4)(2-) species (Me = Cu, Cr) dominate in the ionic liquid solution. The organic part of the ionic liquid does not directly interact with the metal centers. The interactions between the RMIm(+) cations and the anionic metal chloride complexes are limited to hydrogen bonding with the basic Cl(-) ligands and the overall electrostatic stabilization of the anionic metal complexes. Exchange of Cl(-) ligands by a hydroxyl group of glucose is only favorable for CrCl(4)(2-). For Cu(2+) complexes, the formation of hydrogen bonded complexes between CuCl(4)(2-) and glucose is preferred. No preference for the coordination of metal chloride species to specific hydroxyl group of the carbohydrate is found. The formation of binuclear metal chloride complexes is also considered. The reactivity and selectivity patterns of the Lewis acid catalyzed reactions of glucose are discussed in the framework of the obtained results.  相似文献

Catalytic hydrogenation of carboxylic acid esters is essential for the green production of pharmaceuticals, fragrances, and fine chemicals. Herein, we report the efficient hydrogenation of esters with manganese catalysts based on simple bidentate aminophosphine ligands. Monoligated Mn PN complexes are particularly active for the conversion of esters into the corresponding alcohols at Mn concentrations as low as 0.2 mol % in the presence of sub-stoichiometric amounts of KOtBu base.  相似文献

C2 and C3 alkanes are selectively adsorbed from mixtures over the corresponding alkenes on the zeolite imidazolate framework ZIF-7 through a gate-opening mechanism. As a result, the direct production of the pure alkene upon adsorption and the pure alkane upon desorption in packed columns is possible. Herein, a detailed investigation of the step-wise adsorption and separation of alkanes and alkenes is presented, together with a rigorous performance assessment. A molecular picture of the gate-opening mechanism underlying the unprecedented selectivity towards alkane adsorption is proposed based on DFT calculations and a thermodynamic analysis of the adsorption-desorption isotherms.  相似文献

The existence of auditory cues such as intonation, rhythm, and pausing that facilitate end-of-utterance detection is by now well established. It has been argued repeatedly that speakers may also employ visual cues to indicate that they are at the end of their utterance. This raises at least two questions, which are addressed in the current paper. First, which modalities do speakers use for signalling finality and nonfinality, and second, how sensitive are observers to these signals. Our goal is to investigate the relative contribution of three different conditions to end-of-utterance detection: the two unimodal ones, vision only and audio only, and their bimodal combination. Speaker utterances were collected via a novel semicontrolled production experiment, in which participants provided lists of words in an interview setting. The data thus collected were used in two perception experiments, which systematically compared responses to unimodal (audio only and vision only) and bimodal (audio-visual) stimuli. Experiment I is a reaction time experiment, which revealed that humans are significantly quicker in end-of-utterance detection when confronted with bimodal or audio-only stimuli, than for vision-only stimuli. No significant differences in reaction times were found between the bimodal and audio-only condition, and therefore a second experiment was conducted. Experiment II is a classification experiment, and showed that participants perform significantly better in the bimodal condition than in the two unimodal ones. Both the first and the second experiment revealed interesting differences between speakers in the various conditions, which indicates that some speakers are more expressive in the visual and others in the auditory modality.  相似文献
