Spectroscopic Study of Reaction of Propargyl Bromide with Pyridine

Pyridine was reacted with propargyl bromide to obtain the dibromide [C₅H₅NCH = CHCH = CHCH = CHC₅H₅N]^{2 +} 2Br^-. The effect of the vinyl group on its UV spectrum is qualitatively interpreted using the results of nonempirical quantum-chemical calculations (basis HF/6-31G^*).     

Catalytic Activity of Complex-Oxide Perovskite-containing Compositions in Reactions of Oxidation of CO and Organic Compounds

The catalytic activity of composites constituted by a porous metallic or ceramic support, intermediate layers of oxide nature, and perovskite coatings, including those doped with silver, was studied in reactions of deep oxidation of CO and organic compounds of various classes. The relationship between the catalytic activity of a composite and its composition and nature of substances being oxidized was analyzed.     

Synthesis of 2-acylmethyl- and 2-acylmethylenebenzo-1,3-dithioles from α-alkynyl ketones

The reaction of -alkynyl ketones with o-phenylenedithiol, which leads to the formation of 2-acylmethylbenzo-1,3-dithioles, was investigated. Reactions of the latter with hydrazine hydrate and hydroxylamine and oxidation were realized. Difficult-to-obtain 2-acylmethylenebenzo-1,3-dithioles were obtained by the reaction of -bromoalkynyl ketones with o-phenylenedithiol. Reactions of 1,1,4,4-tetramethylsemicarbazide with prop-2-ynyl bromide, allyl bromide, and 1,3-dibromoprop-1-yne

1,1,4,4-Tetramethylsemicarbazide readily undergoes alkylation with prop-2-ynyl bromide and allyl bromide at the tertiary nitrogen atom of the hydrazine fragment to give 1-(prop-2-yn-1-yl)-and 1-(prop-2-en-1-yl)-1,1-dimethyl-2-(dimethylaminocarbonyl)hydrazinium bromides, respectively. A new procedure was proposed for the synthesis of 6-bromomethylidene-2-dimethylamino-4,4-dimethyl-5,6-dihydro-4H-1,3,4-oxadiazin-4-ium bromide by reaction of 1,1,4,4-tetramethylsemicarbazide with 1,3-dibromoprop-1-yne in acetonitrile.     

Alkynyl derivatives of selenophene II. Addition of thiols to selenienyl alkynyl ketones

The reaction of selenienyl alkynyl ketones with thiophenol and butyl mercaptan gave good yields of selenienylketovinyl sulfides. The corresponding sulfones were obtained from some of the sulfides by oxidation with hydrogen peroxide. General forms of the kinetic equations for the conversion of various hydrocarbons in reforming of multicomponent gasoline fractions on platinum/alumina catalysts have been confirmed experimentally by using a gradientless method.

Synthesis and some transformations of 2-acylmethyl-1,3-oxathiolanes

2-Acylmethyl-1,3-oxathiolanes, which form oximes with hydroxylamine and perchlorates with perchloric acid, were synthesized by reaction of -alkynyl ketones with ß-mercaptoethanol.Translated from Khimiya Geterotsiklicheskikh Soedinenii, No. 8, pp. 1041–1043, August, 1978.     

Coordination compounds of cobalt(II), nickel(II), and copper(II) with 4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole: Synthesis and study

New Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II) complexes with 4-(3-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole (L) with the compositions [Co₃L₆(H₂O)₅(C₂H₅OH)](NO₃)₆ · 2H₂O · C₂H₅OH (I), [Ni₃L₆(H₂O)₆](NO₃)₆ · 2H₂O (II), and [M₃L₆(H₂O)₆](ClO₄)₆ · nH₂O (M = Co2⁺, n = 2 (III); Ni²⁺, n = 2 (IV); Cu²⁺, n = 0 (V)) are synthesized. The complexes are studied by X-ray structure analysis, X-ray diffraction analysis, UV and IR spectroscopy, and the statistical magnetic susceptibility method. All compounds have the linear trinuclear structure. Ligand L is coordinated to the metal ions by the N(1) and N(2) atoms of the heterocycle according to the bidentate bridging mode. In all compounds the coordination polyhedron of the metal atom is a distorted octahedron. The molecular and crystal structures of compound I, [Co₃L₆(H₂O)₆](ClO₄)₆ · 8C₂H₅OH (IIIa), and [Ni₃L₆(H₂O)₆](ClO₄)₆ · 8C₂H₅OH (IVa) are determined.     

Crystal structure and quantum chemical investigation of 4-(3,4-dichlorphenyl)-1,2,4-triazole

1,2,4-Triazole derivative substituted in the 4th position — 4-(3,4-dichlorphenyl)-1,2,4-tirazole — has been synthesized. Crystal and molecular structure of the compound were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Molecular geometry optimization and effective charge calculations were performed by DFT methods.
