This paper describes the characterization of low molecular weight components of four materials using electrospray ionization Fourier transform mass spectrometry (ESI-FTMS). The materials in the current study are [(ViMe2SiO1/2)x(PhSiO3/2)y(SiO4/2)z] (MTQ), [(ViMe2SiO1/2)x(SiO4/2)y] (MQ), and [(SiO4/2)x(HO1/2)y(tBuO1/2)z] (Q) silsesquioxanes. Accurate mass measurements coupled with knowledge of resin chemistry afforded siloxane composition determination that was used to propose specific structures for the oligomers. Branched or linear (TnQmMn+2m+2), and monocyclic (TnQmMn+2m) structures are predominant structures for the low molecular weight species in MTQ. For MQ and Q, more condensed structures, such as partially opened cage structures (QmM2m?6 and QmM2m?8), were identified. The differences between MQ, Q, and MTQ are likely attributed to differences in intrinsic structure and reactivity of T and Q building blocks. The structural information obtained for these oligomeric species will ultimately provide a better understanding of new resin materials and their associated physical properties.  相似文献

A new class of zwitterionic monomers were prepared in which the positive and negative sites are cyclic sulfonium and phenolate. Thermal polymerization occurs by phenolic anionic attack upon the aliphatic carbon α to the sulfonium sulfur. Polymerization proceeds with ring opening and net loss of charge to form nonionic polymers. The monomeric zwitterions are generally hydrated, crystalline solids that are soluble in water or alcohol. Chlorination of the aromatic portion of the molecule yields nonhydrated species. The polymerizations of 1-(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)tetrahydrothiophenium hydroxide inner salt (dihydrate) and 1-(3,5-dichloro-4-hydroxyphenyl)tetrahydrothiophenium hydroxide inner salt were studied. The latter monomer gave a polymer with M?n of 46,000 when a nucleophile was present as an initiator. The physical properties of this polymer were determined. Cyclization appears to be the main mechanism of termination in the polymerization of zwitterions.  相似文献

The peroxyacid oxidation of 6-chloro-2,4-diaminopyrimidine ( 1 ) led to two products, 6-chloro-2,4-diaminopyrimidine 3-N-oxide ( 2 ) and 2,4-diamino-5,6-dichloropyrimidine 3-N-oxide ( 3 ). The assignment of structure of both of these compounds was made on the basis of ir, uv, nmr, and mass spectral data. A discussion of the pathways involved in the formation of 3 is presented.  相似文献

The product ion formation characteristics of the four diastereomeric tetrahydroxy benzo[ghi]fluoranthene compounds formed by hydrolysis of the syn and anti diastereomers of trans-3,4-dihydroxy-5,5a-epoxy-3,4,5,5a-tetrahydrobenzo[ghi]fluoranthene are studied using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization and post-source decay (PSD) to determine a correlation between the fragmentation characteristics of these tetraols and the structures of the diol-epoxide diastereomers from which they are hydrolyzed. The tetraols formed by the trans ring opening of the diol epoxides during hydrolysis yield product ion spectra specific for the syn and anti configurations of their precursor diol epoxides. All four diastereomeric tetraols form product ions by the losses of one and/or two water molecules in varying proportions when lithium-cationized molecule ions (m/z 301) are selected for PSD product ion analysis. The differences in the PSD spectra of these four Li+-cationized molecules are rationalized in terms of a water loss mechanism that involves the 1,2 elimination of a hydrogen atom and hydroxyl group that are cis with respect to each other on adjacent carbons.  相似文献

We review recent developments in differential topology with special concern for their possible significance to physical theories, especially general relativity. In particular we are concerned here with the discovery of the existence of non-standard (fake or exotic) differentiable structures on topologically simple manifolds such asS 7, 4 andS 3 X 1. Because of the technical difficulties involved in the smooth case, we begin with an easily understood toy example looking at the role which the choice of complex structures plays in the formulation of two-dimensional vacuum electrostatics. We then briefly review the mathematical formalisms involved with differentiable structures on topological manifolds, diffeomorphisms and their significance for physics. We summarize the important work of Milnor, Freedman, Donaldson, and others in developing exotic differentiable structures on well known topological manifolds. Finally, we discuss some of the geometric implications of these results and propose some conjectures on possible physical implications of these new manifolds which have never before been considered as physical models.  相似文献

The shape group method (SGM) and the associated (a,b)-parameter maps provide a detailed shape characterization of molecular charge distributions. This method is applied to the study of the variations of shape and conjugation of conformers of 2-phenyl pyrimidine in their electronic ground state. Within the SGM framework, the method of (a,b)-parameter maps provides a concise, nonvisual, algorithmic technique for shape characterization of molecules with fixed nuclear geometries. Moreover, shape codes derived from the (a,b)-parameter maps afford a practical means for efficiently storing the shape properties of molecules in an electronic database. The shape codes of two or more charge distributions can be compared directly, and numerical measures of molecular shape similarity can be computed using a technique that is simple, fast, and inexpensive, especially in relation to direct, pairwise comparisons of electronic charge densities. The quantitative and automated nature of the method suggests applications in the field of computer-aided molecular design. In this study, the method is used for the first time to determine detailed numerical shape codes and shape similarity measures for a nontrivial conformational problem involving changes in energy and in conjugation. Numerical shape similarity measures of eight conformers of 2-phenyl pyrimidine are determined and correlated with variations in conformational energy and conjugation. The competing effects of steric repulsion and conjugation lead to important correlations between conformational energy and shape. © 1995 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献

An algorithm for a detailed 3-D characterization of the shapes of molecular charge distributions is implemented, tested and applied for a family of AB2 molecules. The characterization is performed by computing a number of topological invariants (“shape groups”) associated with a continuum of molecular surfaces: the complete family of all electronic isodensity contours for the given molecules. These shape groups (the homology groups of truncated surfaces derived from isodensity contours) depend continuously on two parameters: a density value defining the density contour, and a reference curvature value, to which the local curvatures of the isodensity contours are compared. The electronic charge distribution is modeled by means of Gaussian-type functions. The method employs an explicit form of the charge density function in order to compute the curvature properties for the molecular surfaces analytically, from which the shape groups are derived by the algorithm. No visual inspection is required for the characterization and comparison of shapes of molecular charge densities, as these are done algorithmically by the computer. However, visual inspection of the results of the shape analysis is a possible option. For a given molecule, in a given nuclear configuration, the technique provides a two-dimensional shape map, displaying the distribution of shape groups as a function of the local curvature and the level set value (the value of the charge density at the contour). The computer program GSHAPE performs the analysis of shape maps automatically. This feature makes it potentially useful in the context of computer-aided drug design, where unbiased, automated shape characterization methods are valuable tools. As examples, several two-dimensional shape maps for simple systems are discussed. The changes induced in these maps by a change in the nuclear geometry, as well as by the changes of the nuclear charge, are also analyzed. The method is applicable to large biomolecules of interest if charge density information is available.  相似文献

A wide variety of alkyl isatoates can be prepared in good yield from the high temperature reaction of isatoic anhydride with alcohols. Isatoates were found to undergo an apparent high temperature rearrangement reaction. The rate constants of the (4+2)-cycloaddition reaction between substituted E-arenediazocyanides and 2,3-dimethyl-1,3-butadiene have been determined in several solvents. The reaction displays linear Hammett behavior; the data suggest a concerted reaction mechanism.  相似文献
