Dielectric properties of polymer-liquid crystal mixture, having constituent polymer, poly-butyl methacrylate (PBMA) and liquid crystal, cholesteryl nonanoate, are reported as a function of frequency and temperature. The measurement has been done in a temperature range of 300-375 K and frequency range of 100 Hz-10 MHz. The dielectric permittivity and dielectric loss shows significant changes with the addition of polymer molecules in liquid crystal. The significant feature of composite formation is that the pure liquid crystal and polymer do not show dielectric relaxation in the frequency range covered, while the composite shows relaxation peak at a particular frequency. The optical transmittance of pure liquid crystal and composite has also been measured and compared.  相似文献

A homologous series of azomesogens, 2″-[4-(4′-n-alkoxybenzoyloxy)-2-chlorophenylazo] naphthalenes, with lateral chloro groups was synthesised. All the homologues synthesized exhibit enantiotropic nematic mesophase. The mesomorphic properties of the present series are compared with other structurally related series to evaluate the effect of lateral chloro group and its position on mesomorphism This paper was presented at the 10th National Conference on Liquid Crystals held at Bangalore, India during 9–11 October 2003.  相似文献

The study of the angular distribution of slow particles during high energy hadron-nucleus interaction indicates that emission of slow particles takes place from a thermally non-equilibrated system. This evidence has come out from the presence of intermittency - a phenomenon that reveals a fractal structure and represents a self-similarity in the particle production process. Hence, this study highlights inadequacy of cascade-evaporation model and advocates the need of its refinement.  相似文献

The scaled factorial moments and the multifractal moments have been investigated in differentη-intervals to study the dynamical fluctuation of pions produced in 200 AGeV32S-Ag/Br interaction. In order to investigate the detail characteristics of intermittency behaviour, theF-moments are extracted up to the eighth order of moments in differentM-intervals. The analysis indicates a non-thermal phase transition and different regime of particle production during the hadronisation process.  相似文献

The effects of a ready-made surfactant (sodium dodecyl sulfate) on the dynamic interfacial tension between a model acidic oil (linoleic acid dissolved in paraffin oil) and various aqueous alkaline (NaOH) systems have been studied using pendant drop tensiometry at surfactant concentrations both below and above the critical micelle concentration (CMC). Below the CMC the added surfactant contributes significantly to a further reduction of interfacial tension of the reacting acid/alkaline system, whereas above the CMC the added surfactant plays an important role in damping the dynamic trends observed for the reactive system alone. Decomposition of isopropanol (IPA) on V2O5, Li0.02V2O5, Na0.02V2O5, Na0.06V2O5, Li0.33V2O5, and Na0.33V2O5 has been studied in the temperature range 186–300°C. The first four catalysts (α-phase) show predominately dehydration, whereas the last two (β-phase) have comparable dehydration and dehydrogenation activity. Dehydration activity increases with alkali metal concentration within the α-phase, but falls sharply on the β-phase catalysts. This difference is attributed to the different rate determining steps for the reaction on the α- and β-phase catalysts. X-ray and ir spectral data show that the β-phase catalysts are much more stable than the α-phase. A mechanism for the dehydration of IPA based on the electrical resistivity, ESR spectra, and kinetic data has been proposed.  相似文献

A mild and efficient protocol for the coupling of indoles and pyrroles with allyl halides such as allyl bromide, crotyl bromide and propargyl bromide in the presence of gallium metal in a Bu4NBr-DMF-H2O system has been developed. The reaction is equally effective when cadmium is used in lieu of gallium and the corresponding 3-allyl indoles and 3-allyl pyrroles were obtained in almost comparable yields.  相似文献

In this paper we report a new idea for synthesizing polyaniline in an ordinary filter paper. The synthesis was carried out by a process in which aqueous acidic aniline solution and the oxidizing agent H(2)O(2) was added to the paper drop by drop and in sequence. Uniform polymerization could be obtained with the addition of reagents in either sequence. The polymer formation led to a green coloration of the paper. Formation of the emeraldine salt of polyaniline was confirmed by UV-vis and FTIR spectroscopy. Scanning electron microscopic measurements were made for surface characterization of the polymer formed in the paper. The same paper was used as a sensor for ammonia in vapor and in solution, for acid and base as well as endpoint indication, and also to filter acids and bases. We found that, using the polymer-containing paper, ammonia concentrations in a solution as low as 14 ppm could be measured.  相似文献

The reactions of 1,4-bis[2-(tributylstannyl)tetrazol-5-yl]benzene with α,ω-dibromoalkanes were carried out in order to synthesise pendant alkyl halide derivatives of the parent bis-tetrazole. This led to the formation of several alkyl halide derivatives, substituted variously at N1 or N2 on the tetrazole ring. The crystal structures of 1,4-bis[(2-(4-bromobutyl)tetrazol-5-yl)]benzene (2-N,2-N′), 1,4-bis[(2-(4-bromobutyl)tetrazol-5-yl)]benzene (1-N,2-N′) and 1,4-bis[(2-(8-bromooctyl)tetrazol-5-yl)]benzene (2-N,2-N′) are reported. Further discussion involves the structure of 1,4-bis[2-(6-bromohexyl)-2H-tetrazol-5-yl]benzene (2-N,2-N′) previously reported.  相似文献
