Wettability was controlled in a rational manner by individually and simultaneously manipulating surface topography and surface chemical structure. The first stage of this research involved the adsorption of charged submicrometer polystyrene latex particles to oppositely charged poly(ethylene terephthalate) (PET) film samples to form surfaces with different topographies/roughness; adsorption time, solution pH, solution ionic strength, latex particle size, and substrate charge density are external variables that were controlled. The introduction of discrete functional groups to smooth and rough surfaces through organic transformations was carried out in the second stage. Amine groups (-NH(2)) and alcohol groups (-OH) were introduced onto smooth PET surfaces by amidation with poly(allylamine) and adsorption with poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVOH), respectively. On latex particle adsorbed surfaces, a thin layer of gold was evaporated first to prevent particle redistribution before chemical transformation. Reactions with functionalized thiols and adsorption with PVOH on patterned gold surfaces successfully enhanced surface hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity. Particle size and biomodal particle size distribution affect both hydrophobicity and hydrophilicity. A very hydrophobic surface exhibiting water contact angles of 150 degrees /126 degrees (theta(A)/theta(R)) prepared by adsorption of 1-octadecanethiol and a hydrophilic surface with water contact angles of 18 degrees /8 degrees (theta(A)/theta(R)) prepared by adsorption of PVOH were prepared on gold-coated surfaces containing both 0.35 and 0.1 microm latex particles. The combination of surface topography and surface-chemical functionality permits wettability control over a wide range.  相似文献

Polycaprolactone (PCL) based α,ω-methacrylated macromonomer (DMPCL) was synthesized via enzymatic ring-opening polymerization (eROP) by using Novozyme 435 as the enzyme immobilized catalyst. DMPCL was further photopolymerized with monofunctional poly(ethylene glycol) methyl ether methacrylate (PEGMA-950) macromonomer and trimethylolpropane triacrylate (TMPTA) as tri-functionalized crosslinking agent in glass vials when CHCl3 was the solvent and Irgacure 819 was the photoinitiator. Ultraviolet (UV) Light Emitting Diode (LED) bulbs enabled photoinduced reactions at room temperature with low heat generation and high reaction efficiency. The obtained gels were characterized with Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FT-IR) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). DMPCL participated as an effective crosslinking agent in the photopolymerization of PEGMA-950. Combined usage of DMPCL and PEGMA-950 resulted in significantly more effective polymerization than the separate photopolymerizations of these macromonomers.  相似文献

This study investigates appointment systems (AS), as combinations of access rules and appointment-scheduling rules, explicitly designed for dealing with walk-in seasonality. In terms of ‘access rules’, strategies are tested for adjusting capacity through intra-week, or monthly seasonality of walk-ins, or their combined effects. In terms of ‘appointment rules’, strategies are tested to determine which particular slots to double-book or leave open in cases where seasonal walk-in rates exceed or fall short of the overall yearly rate. In that regard, this study integrates capacity and appointment decisions, which are usually addressed in an isolated manner in previous studies. Simulation optimization is used to derive heuristic solutions to the appointment-scheduling problem, and the findings are compared in terms of in-clinic measures of patient wait time, physician idle time and overtime. The goal is to provide practical guidelines for healthcare practitioners on how to best design their AS when seasonal walk-ins exist.  相似文献

The aim of this experimental study was to isolate and partially purify protease enzyme from Bacillus cereus and Bacillus subtilis. Protease enzyme is obtained by inducing spore genesis of bacteria from Bacillus species in suitable nutrient plates. The partial purification was realized by applying, respectively, ammonium sulfate precipitation, dialysis, and DEAE-cellulose ion-exchange chromatography to the supernatant that was produced later. Optimum pH, optimum temperature, pH stability, and temperature stability were determined, as well as the effects of pH, temperature, substrate concentration, reaction time, and inhibitors and activators on enzyme activity. In addition, the molecular mass of the obtained enzyme was investigated by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE). The specific activity of partially purified enzyme from B. subtilis was determined to be 84 U/mg. The final enzyme preparation was eight-fold more pure than the crude homogenate. The molecular mass of the partially purified enzyme was found to be 45 kDa by using SDS-PAGE. The protease enzyme that was partially purified from B. cereus was purified 1.2-fold after ammonium sulfate precipitation. The molecular mass of the partially purified enzyme was determined to be 37 kDa by using SDS-PAGE.  相似文献

In this paper, we provide the first characterization of claw-free equimatchable graphs by identifying the equimatchable claw-free graph families. In this work, firstly methylene blue (MB) was electropolymerized onto pencil graphite electrode (PGE) surface for the electrocatalytic oxidation of NADH. Cyclic voltammograms show that oxidation potential of NADH at Poly-MB/PGE shifted to negative direction about 300 mV compared with bare PGE. These results indicate that Poly-MB/PGE exhibits a good electrocatalytic activity toward NADH oxidation. Then, a glucose biosensor study was performed based on the determination of enzymatically generated NADH by glucose dehydrogenase (GDH) which immobilized onto Poly-MB/PGE using glutaraldehyde cross-linking procedure. The biosensing of glucose in flow injection analysis (FIA) system was performed at GDH/Poly-MB/PGE for the first time. The electrocatalytic oxidation currents of enzymatically produced NADH obtained from FI amperometric current–time curves recorded at + 200 mV and in phosphate buffer solution at pH 7.0 containing 1.0 M KCl were linearly related to the concentration of glucose. Linear calibration plots are obtained in the concentration range from 0.01 to 1.0 mM. The limit of detection (LOD) was found to be 4.0 µM. A fast, sensitive, low-cost and disposable glucose biosensor was constructed in FIA system using GDH/Poly-MB/PGE; therefore, it might provide a new perspective for the fabrication of biosensor of other compounds such as glutamate, lactate and alcohol.  相似文献

This work describes the sensitive voltammetric determination of favipiravir (FAV) based on its reduction for the first time with a low-cost and disposable pencil graphite electrode (PGE). In addition, the determination of FAV was also performed based on its oxidation. Differential pulse (DP) voltammograms recorded in 0.5 M H2SO4 for the reduction of FAV show that peak currents increase linearly in the range of 1.0 to 600.0 μM with a limit of detection of 0.35 μM. The acceptable recovery values (98.9–106.0 %) obtained from a pharmaceutical tablet, real human urine, and artificial blood serum samples spiked with FAV confirm the high accuracy of the proposed method.  相似文献

Asymmetric salen-type Schiff base ligands have been synthesized via a stepwise approach. In the first step, mono-Schiff base compounds were prepared by condensation of salicylaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzaldehyde, 2-hydroxy-5-methoxybenzaldehyde and 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde with hydrazine hydrate. These compounds were then reacted with 4′-formylbenzo-15-crown-5 to prepare asymmetric ligands. 1H-NMR spectra indicate that the mono- and asymmetric bis-Schiff base compounds exist in both (E) and (Z) isomeric forms in CDCl3 solution. The asymmetric crown compounds form crystalline 1:1 (Na+:ligand) complexes with sodium perchlorate. Homo-metallic Ni(II) and Zn(II) complexes with 1:2 (metal:ligand) stoichiometries have also been synthesized. The results indicate that the Schiff base ligands coordinate through the azomethine nitrogen and phenolic oxygen.  相似文献
