The finiteness of computer arithmetic can lead to some dramatic differences between the behaviour of a continuous dynamical system and a computer simulation. A thorough rigorous theoretical analysis of what may or what does happen is usually extremely difficult and to date little has been done even in relatively simple contexts. The comparative behaviour of a rotation mapping in the plane and on a uniform lattice in the plane is one such example. Simulations show that the rounding operator applied to a planar rotation mapping more or less preserves the qualitative behaviour of the original mapping, whereas the application of the truncation operator to a planar rotation can lead to quite different dynamical features. In this paper a theoretical justification of the properties of the planar rotation mappings under truncation to a, uniform integer lattice is provided, in particular properties of boundedness and dissipativity are investigated.  相似文献

Progress in the development of a micro-fluidic system for colorimetric monitoring of ammonia in drinking and wastewater is described. The ultimate goal is to have a miniaturised instrument that can produce accurate, reliable measurements, is easy to operate, has minimal power consumption, and can operate autonomously for a year. In this study, the indophenol reaction is incorporated into a simple, reliable analytical micro-fluidic system. Absorbance measurements for the blue ammonia-indophenol complex formed in the micro-fluidic system are shown. A key issue is the limiting stability of hypochlorite, a reagent used in the assay. The effects of hypochlorite concentration and impurities on the stability of hypochlorite are investigated and discussed. Decomposition is shown to be very dependent on the presence of heavy-metal impurities. With low levels of these catalytic metals and careful storage, hypochlorite has been shown to be stable for over a year.  相似文献

Radionuclides have been identified as a significant source of contamination at many United States Department of Energy (DOE) sites. As a result, reliable and accurate methods to determine actinide content in environmental samples have become increasingly important. Therefore, an improved analytical scheme using a series of actinide-selective extraction chromatography (Tru-Spec, Teva-Spec) and ion-exchange (Diphonix) resins was designed to satisfy the requirements of both alpha spectrometry and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Alpha spectrometry required the sequential isolation of the actinides, whereas ICP-MS required only a group separation of the actinides. The separation schemes were designed to allow analysis of the actinides in soil, whether the soils were acid leached or totally dissolved through fusion. For those analytes present as contaminants (239/240Pu,241Am), the laboratory results agreed favorably with the accepted values for several reference soils. However, for the acid digestion procedure, the results for matrix constitutents (238U,234U,232Th) were quite low because the silicate matrix was not decomposed. The sodium hydroxide fusion technique described allowed accurate analysis of both matrix constituents and contaminants because a total dissolution was achieved.  相似文献

Two superdeformed (SD) bands have been found and assigned to195Tl on the basis of excitation function and cross bombardment results. The two bands are almost identical in transition energies to those observed in193Tl. They are signature partners with a splitting, presumably due to the proton i13/2 (=5/2) orbital, characteristic of all known SD bands in the thallium isotopes.
