An admissible minimax estimator of a bounded scale-parameter in a subclass of the exponential family under scale-invariant squared-error loss

A subclass of the scale-parameter exponential family is considered and for the rth power of the scale parameter, which is lower bounded, an admissible minimax estimator under scale-invariant squared-error loss is presented. Also, an admissible minimax estimator of a lower-bounded parameter in the family of transformed chi-square distributions is given. These estimators are the pointwise limits of a sequence of Bayes estimators. Some examples are given.     

Trichloroisocyanuric acid as a novel oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines under both heterogeneous and solvent free conditions

Trichloroisocyanuric acid is used as an effective oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines to their corresponding pyrazoles under both heterogeneous and also solvent free conditions with good yields at room temperature.     

Single crystal X-ray structure determinations of the reaction products of cis- and trans-cyclohexanedicarboxylic anhydrides and methylhydrazine

The structures of two of the three isomeric products of the reactions between cis- and trans-cyclohexanedicarboxylic anhydrides and methylhydrazine were determined by single-crystal X-ray methods to ascertain their tautomeric forms and stereochemistries. One product was found to be cis-N-methylamino-1,2-cyclohexanedicarboximide and the other trans-hexahydro-2-methylcyclohexa[d]pyridazine-1,2-dione.     

Kinetic study of triphenylphosphine addition to para‐benzoquinone

Kinetics of the addition reaction of triphenylphosphine to para‐benzoquinone in 1,2‐dichloroethane as solvent was studied. Initial rate method was used to determine the order of the reaction with respect to the reactants. Pseudo‐first‐order method was also used to calculate the rate constant. This reaction was monitored by UV‐vis spectrophotometry at 520 nm by variable time method. On the basis of the obtained results, the Arrhenius equation of this reaction was obtained: The activation parameters, E_a, ΔH^#, ΔG^#, and ΔS^# at 300 K were 5.701, 6.294, 19.958 kcal mol^?1 and ?45.853 cal mol^?1 K^?1, respectively. Electroorganic synthesis of catecholthioethers

[reaction: see text] It is demonstrated that o-quinones, generated by the electrochemically driven oxidation of the catechols (1a-d) at physiological pH, are rapidly scavenged by 2-mercaptobenzoxazole (3) to give related catecholthioethers (4a-d) via an EC electrochemical mechanism pathway. The electrochemical syntheses of 4a-d have been successfully performed in one-pot in ambient conditions and in an undivided cell using an environmentally friendly method with high atom economy.     

4-(p-Chloro)phenyl-1,2,4-triazole-3,5-dione as a novel and reusable reagent for the oxidation of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines under mild conditions

4-(p-Chloro)phenyl-1,3,4-triazole-3,5-dione is used as an effective oxidizing agent for the oxidation of 1,3,5-trisubstituted pyrazolines to their corresponding pyrazoles under mild conditions with moderate to good yields at room temperature.     

Synthesis of 1-beta-D-(5-deoxy-5-iodoarabinofuranosyl)-2-nitroimidazole (beta-IAZA): a novel marker of tissue hypoxia

The present work describes the synthesis of the beta-isomer of 1-alpha-D-(5-deoxy-5-iodoarabinofuranosyl)-2-nitroimidazole (IAZA). Radioiodinated IAZA ((123)I-IAZA) has been extensively studied as a radiopharmaceutical for the diagnosis of regional and/or focal tissue hypoxia in a variety of clinical pathologies. The beta-anomer of IAZA, 1-beta-D-(5-deoxy-5-iodoarabinofuranosyl)-2-nitroimidazole (beta-IAZA, 1), was synthesized via an unconventional route starting from 1-beta-D-(ribofuranosyl)-2-nitroimidazole (AZR), with a change of configuration at the C-2'-position to afford 1-beta-D-(arabinofuranosyl)-2-nitroimidazole (beta-AZA, 7). Nucleophilic iodination of the 5'-O-toluenesulfonyl-2',3'-di-O-acetyl precursor of beta-AZA, 9, followed by deprotection, afforded 1 in satisfactory yield. beta-IAZA (1) was also synthesized from 7 using molecular iodine and triphenylphosphine.     

N,N′,N,N′-TETRABROMO-BENZENE-1,3-DISULFONYLAMIDE AS A NOVEL REAGENT FOR OXIDATIVE AROMATIZATION OF 1,3,5-TRISUBSTITUTED PYRAZOLINES UNDER HETEROGENEOUS AND SOLVENT-FREE CONDITIONS

1,3,5-Trisubstituted pyrazolines were converted to the corresponding pyrazoles in good yields under heterogeneous and solvent-free conditions by N,N′,N,N′-tetrabromo-benzene-1,3-disulfonylamide [TBBDA] at ambient temperature.     

Synthesis of Unsymmetrically Substituted Hexahydroimidazo [4,5-d] Imidazole-2,5-diones and Elucidation of Reaction Pathways

We have reported the synthesis and structural elucidation of a series of hexahydroimidazo [4,5-d] imidazole-2,5-diones and hydantoins from glyoxal and substituted ureas.^1,2 The general equation of this condensation reaction and a few representative compounds: those reported, current and hypothetical, are depicted in Scheme 1.     

Sonochemical Synthesis and Photocatalytic Properties of Metal Hydroxide and Carbonate (M:Mg, Ca, Sr or Ba) Nanoparticles

In this work Mg(OH)₂, Ca(OH)₂, CaCO₃, SrCO₃ and BaCO₃ nanoparticles were synthesized via a simple sonochemical reaction at room temperature. Nanoparticles were synthesized via a surfactant-free reaction solvent water. Nanostructures materials were characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The photocatalytic behavior of nanoparticles was evaluated using the degradation of a methyl orange aqueous solution under ultraviolet light irradiation. The results show that metal hydroxide and metal carbonate nanoparticles are promising materials with excellent performance in photocatalytic applications.
