New drug delivery systems based on hydroxypropyl cellulose (HPC) and different percents of glucose were prepared and characterized to check their suitability as UV resistant patches. The spectral absorption properties of the HPC and HPC-glucose blends before and after UV irradiation were analyzed. The surface polarity and hydrophilicity were correlated with the morphology of the films and analyzed with respect to the UV exposure time and the embedded amount of glucose. The effects of UV radiation on in vitro evaluation of glucose release from the HPC films are reported. The mechanism involved in the drug release process, evaluated using the Korsmeyer-Peppas equation, was dependent on the introduced amount of glucose and less on the UV exposure time. A more polar, smoother, and less dense surface releases the glucose over larger periods of time, making the system with lower percents of glucose more adequate for the pursued purpose.  相似文献

The proposed method of channeled spectrum employs the recorded channeled spectrum of an optical active polymer solution placed between two crossed polarizers. The approach allows the evaluation of the optical rotatory dispersion of poly(propylene oxide) in benzene. The specific rotation, circular birefringence, and dispersion parameter depend on the wavelengths of the maxima and minima from the channeled spectrum.  相似文献

Novel copolyimides (cPIs) based on 3,3??,4,4??-benzophenonetetracarboxylic dianhydride, 4,4??-diaminodiphenylmethane (DDM) and 1,6-diaminohexane (DAH) were synthesized. Their surface wettability was improved by plasma enhancement of polar component contribution to surface tension from 10 to 50?%. Interfacial energy reduction up to 2.07?C2.95?mN/m was depicted in spreading work values that reveal the manner in which cPIs interact with blood constituents. The results showed that by increasing of the aliphatic DAH content in the polymer chain, the rejection of platelets is higher, prohibiting thrombosis and favoring cohesion with plasma proteins. The different water sorptions of the samples were evaluated by considering their morphologies and chemical affinities to water. When DAH prevails to DDM, water sorption capacity is lowered from 6.36 to 4.96?%?db, presumably due to a higher chain packing efficiency. Atomic force microscopy data revealed that surface roughness is <8?nm for all polymers, even after plasma treatment, preventing clot formation.  相似文献

Some optical properties of poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) films are investigated prior and after the rubbing and stretching of the samples. Birefringence of the prepared foils is enhanced as their stretching degree and rubbing become larger. These processing factors are also affecting the values of the ordinary and extraordinary refractive indices. The induced anisotropy in PVA foils is evidenced in the morphological characteristics observed by optical microscopy. The spreading and adhesion behaviors of a nematic liquid crystal on PVA foils are analyzed by means of contact angle measurements. Preliminary testing of the nematic on the PVA films revealed significant variations in transmitted light intensity during sample rotation under crossed polarizers. The high contrast between dark and bright patterns is indicative of uniform and homogenous alignment of nematic on the rubbed and stretched PVA foils.  相似文献
