The role of corrections due to the interactions between different branches of parton (gluon) cascades is studied. It is shown that at HERA energies these interactions increase the absorptive (two-Pomeron cut) contributions by about 60 to 80% compared with the Gribov-Levin-Ryskin equation.This work was supported, in part, by a Soros Foundation Grant awarded by the American Physical Society  相似文献

Para-halosubstituted thiophenols (X-TPs, where X is Br, Cl, or F) form ordered islands and monolayers on Cu(111) at temperatures as low as 81 K. At incomplete coverages, all X-TPs adsorb with the dehydrogenated thiol group attached to the substrate and the substituted ring inclined toward the surface, as verified experimentally and theoretically. The structure of ordered islands has a pronounced dependence on the nature of the halogen substituent: while unsubstituted TP and pentafluoro-TP molecules do not self-assemble into extended ordered patterns at 81 K, X-TP molecules form a range of different structures which depend both on the size and electronegativity of the substituent, as well as on the coverage.  相似文献

The phenomenology of the pseudoscalar (1440) meson (also known as l) is discussed in a simplified , l mixing scheme in which the is assumed to have no glueball component. The parameters of the model are quite well constrained from the and two-photon decays. First it is shown that the scheme is in rather good general agreement with (almost) all the available data. Then a number of testable predictions concerning decays involving the iota are made. The iota turns out to be largely a glueball in this model.  相似文献

An essential element of implicit solvent models, such as the generalized Born method, is a knowledge of the volume associated with the individual atoms of the solute. Two approaches for determining atomic volumes for the generalized Born model are described; one is based on Voronoi polyhedra and the other, on minimizing the fluctuations in the overall volume of the solute. Volumes to be used with various parameter sets for protein and nucleic acids in the CHARMM force field are determined from a large set of known structures. The volumes resulting from the two different approaches are compared with respect to various parameters, including the size and solvent accessibility of the structures from which they are determined. Arrhenius parameters for the reaction of hydrogen atoms with azide and thiocyanate in aqueous solution have been determined using electron pulse radiolysis and electron paramagnetic resonance free induction decay attenuation measurements. Absolute values for SCN-, N3(-), and HN3 were well-described over the temperature range of 9-81 degrees C by the equations log k5 = (12.03 +/- 0.12) - [(21.05 +/- 0.66 kJ mol(-1))/2.303RT], log k10 = (12.75 +/- 0.21) - [(18.43 +/- 1.22 kJ mol(-1))/2.303RT], and log k15 = (11.59 +/- 0.12) - [(21.44 +/- 0.69 kJ mol(-1))/2.303RT], corresponding to room temperature (22 degrees C) rate constants of (2.07 +/- 0.03) x 10(8), (3.15 +/- 0.08) x 10(9), and (6.31 +/- 0.05) x 10(7) M(-1) s(-1) and activation energies for these chemicals of 21.05 +/- 0.66, 18.4 +/- 1.2, and 21.44 +/- 0.69 kJ mol(-1), respectively. The similarity of these three measured activation energies, taken together with the available information on reaction products, suggests a similar reaction mechanism, which is proposed to be an initial hydrogen atom adduct formation in these molecules, followed by single bond breakage.  相似文献

Mesoporous silica thin films were shown to be an appropriate matrix for immobilization of discrete electroactive moieties, yielding uniform transparent thin film electrodes with defined texture and enhanced electrochemical activity. The mesoporous silica films prepared on conducting FTO-coated glass substrate were postsynthetically functionalized. Alkoxysilanes were used as precursors for subsequent grafting via ionic or covalent bonds of representative electroactive species, such as polyoxometalate PMo12O(40)3-, hexacyanoferrate(III), and ferrocene. The electrochemically active concentration within the silica-based composite electrodes achieves 90, 260, and 60 micromol cm(-3) for polyoxometalate, hexacyanoferrate(III), and ferrocene, respectively. The amount of molecules involved in the charge-transfer sequence is proportional to the film thickness and comparable to the total amount of embedded guests. Thus, eventually the whole bulk volume of the modified silica films is electrochemically accessible. Immobilization in the chemically modified silica matrix alters the redox potential of the electroactive molecules. Electron exchange between the adjacent redox centers (electron hopping) is proposed as a possible charge propagation pathway through the insulating silica matrix, which is supported by the fact that the high charge uptake is observed also for the hybrid electrodes with the covalently anchored redox guests.  相似文献
