Observation of the 35 GHz EPR spectrum of γ-irradiated 10 M NaOH/H2O and 10 M NaOD/D2O glassy ices at 77°K has revealed proton spin flip satellites associated with the trapped elctron EPR line. This suggests that forbidden satellite transitions contribute to the lineshape of the trapped electron line in the 9 GHz spectrum which has commonly been studied. 相似文献

An unexplained residual in the fits of theoretical and experimental spectra of exchange broadened nitroxide spin probes reported by Robinson et al. [J. Magn. Reson. 138 (1999) 199] is shown to be understood by inclusion of theoretically predicted lineshape changes into the fitting routine. These lineshape changes provide an additional estimate of the spin exchange frequency that is independent of linewidth methods. 相似文献

The interaction between poly(ethylene oxide) or poly(vinylpyrrolidone) and cesium and tetraalkylammonium (tetramethyl to tetrabutyl ammonium) dodecylsulfate has been investigated by means of electrical conductivity measurements to determine the critical aggregation concentration (cac) of the surfactants in the presence of polymer. The cac values were compared to the values of the critical micellization concentration (cmc) of the surfactants in the absence of polymer. Copper-phenanthroline complexes and their conjugates are useful reagents for studying nucleic acid interactions. Although DNA cleavage by such complexes was discovered more than 20 years ago, significant questions remain unanswered regarding the chemical mechanism(s) by which DNA is damaged. Kinetic evidence is provided, which demonstrates that the major pathway for DNA damage by a minor groove binding molecule conjugated to copper phenanthroline (6) involves C1'-oxidation. Additional experiments using 6 and a DNA substrate containing 2-deoxyribonolactone (1) show that direct strand breaks are produced via beta-elimination from 1. These studies support the original mechanism for DNA damage by copper phenanthroline put forth by Sigman and a more recent proposal concerning the mechanism for direct strand break formation. 相似文献

We investigate the stability and convergence of an implicit box scheme for subsonic flows modelled by scalar conservation laws with dissipative and possibly stiff source terms. The scheme is proposed for solving transient gas flow problems in pipeline networks. Such networks are operated in the subsonic flow region and are characterized by pressure losses due to dissipative friction terms. We verify the properties stated by Kru?kov’s theorem (Kru?kov, Math. USSR-Sb. 10:217–243, 1970) for the approximate solution and prove its convergence to the entropy solution. 相似文献

Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectra were obtained from single biological aerosol particles using an aerosol time-of-flight mass spectrometer (ATOFMS). The inlet to the ATOFMS was coupled with an evaporation/condensation flow cell that allowed the aerosol to be coated with matrix material as the sampled stream entered the spectrometer. Mass spectra were generated from aerosol composed either of gramicidin-S or erythromycin, two small biological molecules, or from aerosolised spores of Bacillus subtilis var niger. Three different matrices were used: 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol, picolinic acid and sinapinic acid. A spectrum of gramicidin-S was generated from approximately 250 attomoles of material using a molar ratio of 3-nitrobenzyl alcohol to analyte of approximately 20:1. A single peak, located at 1224 Da, was obtained from the bacterial spores. The washing liquid and extract solution from the spores were analyzed using electrospray mass spectrometry and subsequent MS/MS product ion experiments. This independent analysis suggests that the measured species represents part of the B. subtilis peptidoglycan. The on-line addition of matrix allows quasi-real-time chemical analysis of individual, aerodynamically sized particles, with an overall system residence time of less than 5 seconds. These results suggest that a MALDI-ATOFMS can provide nearly real-time identification of biological aerosols. Copyright 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd. 相似文献

Aqueous alkaline OsO4 at 85 degrees C oxidizes saturated alkanes, including primary, secondary, and tertiary C-H bonds. Isobutane affords tert-butanol in quantitative yield based on consumed OsO4. Cyclohexane is oxidized to a mixture of adipate and succinate. Ethane and propane are oxidized to acetate, which itself is further oxidized under the reaction conditions. A few turnovers of isobutane oxidation have been accomplished using NaIO4 as the terminal oxidant. The alkane oxidation is an example of ligand accelerated catalysis, as hydroxide binding to OsO4 is required for reaction. A concerted mechanism involving [3+2] addition of a C-H bond to two oxo groups of OsO4(OH)- is suggested, analogous to the pathways for dihydroxylation of alkenes by OsO4(L) and for addition of H2 to OsO4(L). 相似文献
