TheSR Facility Instruments presently available at PSI and the envisaged medium- and long-term developments are presented. The plans focus on further upgrades of the existing instruments and the development of new techniques using the very high fluxes becoming available at PSI, in particular the setup of a beamline with a fast kicker for muons on request (MORE) and the development of very low energy muon beams.  相似文献

The mechanism of the addition of carbonyl compounds to digermenes was investigated by examining the reaction between tetramesityldigermene and two mechanistic probes: trans-2-phenylcyclopropane carbaldehyde and trans,trans-2-methoxy-3-phenylcyclopropane carbaldehyde. In each reaction, two diastereomers of the formal [2+2] cycloadduct between the aldehyde and the digermene were obtained. These findings, together with the results of a recent theoretical study, indicate that the addition of carbonyl compounds to digermenes proceeds via a mechanism involving a zwitterionic intermediate.  相似文献

We report muon spin rotation measurements on the S=1/2 (Cu2+) paratacamite ZnxCu4-x(OH)6Cl2 family. Despite a Weiss temperature of approximately -300 K, the x=1 compound is found to have no transition to a magnetic frozen state down to 50 mK as theoretically expected for the kagomé Heisenberg antiferromagnet. We find that the limit between a dynamical and a partly frozen ground state occurs around x=0.5. For x=1, we discuss the relevance to a singlet picture.  相似文献

The Knowles series of miniature microphones have been used in the Flight Systems Department of the Royal Aircraft Establishment, Farnborough, Great Britain, for some years for the investigation of noise and speech levels at the ear inside the ear muff.This paper describes the types of microphone that have been used and the power units developed to enable them to feed a variety of measuring and recording equipment.This equipment has many other uses where a miniature microphone is required and the sound pressure level does not exceed 140 dB re 20 μPa.The equipment described has logged thousands of flying hours in RAF aircraft.  相似文献

Using muon-spin-relaxation measurements we show that the pyrochlore compound Gd(2)Ti(2)O(7), in its magnetically ordered phase below approximately 1 K, displays persistent spin dynamics down to temperatures as low as 20 mK. The characteristics of the induced muon relaxation can be accounted for by a scattering process involving two magnetic excitations, with a density of states characterized by an upturn at low energy and a small gap depending linearly on the temperature. We propose that such a density of states is a generic feature of geometrically frustrated magnetic materials.  相似文献

Many high quality products are produced in a batch wise manner. One of the characteristics of a batch process is the recipe driven nature. By repeating the recipe in an identical manner a desired end-product is obtained. However, in spite of repeating the recipe in an identical manner, process differences occur. These differences can be caused by a change of feed stock supplier or impurities in the process. Because of this, differences might occur in the end-product quality or unsafe process situations arise. Therefore, the need to monitor an industrial batch process exists. An industrial process is usually monitored by process measurements such as pressures and temperatures. Nowadays, due to technical developments, spectroscopy is more and more used for process monitoring. Spectroscopic measurements have the advantage of giving a direct chemical insight in the process. Multivariate statistical process control (MSPC) is a statistical way of monitoring the behaviour of a process. Combining spectroscopic measurements with MSPC will notice process perturbations or process deviations from normal operating conditions in a very simple manner. In the following an application is given of batch process monitoring. It is shown how a calibration model is developed and used with the principles of MSPC. Statistical control charts are developed and used to detect batches with a process upset.  相似文献

The magnetic response of the heavy fermion superconductor UPt3 has been investigated on a microscopic scale by muon Knight shift studies. Two distinct and isotropic Knight shifts have been found for the field in the basal plane. While the volume fractions associated with the two Knight shifts are approximately equal at low and high temperatures, they show a dramatic and opposite temperature dependence around T(N). Our results are independent on the precise muon localization site. We conclude that UPt3 is characterized by a two component magnetic response.  相似文献
