Spectrophotometric determination of clotrimazole in bulk drug and dosage forms

A simple, specific, rapid and sensitive spectrophotometric method has been developed for the assay of clotrimazole, in bulk drug and its pharmaceutical preparations. This method is based on the ion-pair complex reaction of clotrimazole and methyl orange in aqueous methanol, and in the presence of citric acid. The chromogen, being extractable with chloroform, could be measured quantitatively at 422 nm. All variables were studied to optimize the reaction conditions. Regression analysis of beer's plot showed good correlation in a general concentration range of 2-14 mu/ml. The proposed method has been successfully applied for the analysis of the bulk drug and its dosage forms such as powder, vaginal tablets, topical solution and creams. No interference was observed from betamethasone dipropionate (Lotriderm cream) or dexamethasone acetate and azidamphenicol (Baycuten cream) or other common pharmaceutical adjuvants. In addition, this method was also found to be specific for the analysis of clotrimazole in the presence of its hydrolytic products as well as imidazole, as a possible impurity.     

Selective spectrophotometric determination of ascorbic acid in drugs and foods

A new analytical method was developed for the determination of ascorbic acid. The method is based on the reaction of ascorbic acid with 4-chloro-7-nitrobenzofurazane (NBD-Cl) in the presence of 0.2M sodium hydroxide, where a bluish green colour (lambda(max) 582 nm) is developed after dilution with 50% (v/v) aqueous acetone solution. Beer's law was obeyed in a concentration range of 5-20 microg ascorbic acid/ml with a good correlation coefficient (r = 0.9990). The method was found to be highly specific for the determination of ascorbic acid in the presence of dehydro-ascorbic acid, all other vitamins and minerals possibly present in multivitamin preparations, rutin, salicylamide, acetyl salicylic acid, paracetamol, caffeine, phenylephrine hydrochloride and dipyrone. Moreover, the proposed procedure was also successfully applied for the determination of ascorbic acid in some canned and fresh fruit juices, some vegetables and infant milk products without interference from coloured and other substances present in the plant extracts.     

Neutron Matter Properties Using Skyrme Interaction

The purpose of the present work is to extend earlier nuclear matter calculations to study the properties of neutron matter. The binding energy per particle, symmetry energy, single particle potential, effective mass, and magnetic susceptibility are calculated using a modified Skyrme interaction. These are calculated as a function of the Fermi momentum k_f in the range 0 < k_f < 2 fm^?1. Two sets of the interaction parameters are obtained by fitting the interaction parameters using the available information on neutron matter. Relativistic corrections to the order 1/c² are also calculated. The relativistic corrections are very small and they increase as k_f is increased.

 The composites comprising Fe-carbon nanotubes (CNTs) on TiO2 were prepared by a modified sol-gel method and characterized by nitrogen adsorption, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, and energy dispersive X-ray analysis. The photocatalytic decomposition of rhodamine B (Rh.B) under UV irradiation and air aeration catalyzed by the composites was measured. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2 nanoparticles was significantly enhanced by the large CNT network that facilitated electron transfer between adsorbed Rh.B molecules and the catalyst substrate and the simultaneous occurrence of the photo-Fenton reaction in the presence of Fe particles. A marked acceleration of the decomposition rate was observed with aeration by flowing air aeration due to the formation of the circulatory photo-Fenton system. Chemical oxygen demand of piggery waste was measured at regular intervals to evaluate the mineralization of wastewater.     

Smart modification of inorganic fibers and flammability mechanical and radiation shielding properties of their rubber composites

Facile and smart method for the modification of inorganic fibers has been developed. The polyaniline was synthesized on basalt fiber surface presenting an organic polymer shell to the inorganic fibers. The modified basalt fibers were dispersed in rubber-producing well-dispersed rubber composites. Various mass loadings of modified basalt fibers were dispersed and optimized. The effect of radiation on the properties of developed rubber composites was investigated by exposure to different gamma radiation doses. The flammability, thermal and mechanical properties were studied. The flammability of developed composites was improved achieving 62 and 16% reduction in the peak heat release rate compared to blank rubber and unmodified basalt fiber-based rubber composite, respectively. This is in addition to significant reduction in emission of CO and CO₂ gases by 65 and 58%, respectively. Also, the tensile strength property was enhanced by 38 and 53% compared to blank and unmodified basalt composite, respectively. The role of polyaniline layer on inorganic fiber surface and their effect on the properties of the produced composites was studied. The organic polymer shell achieved good compatibility and interfacial adhesion of basalt fibers with rubber matrix and radiation protection effect for the developed composites.

CoS2-碳(C60,石墨,碳纳米管)/TiO2复合光敏剂光降解有机染料（英文）

CoS2,CoS 2-C60 /TiO2,CoS2-CNT/TiO2,and CoS2-Graphene/TiO2 were prepared.The TiO2 products had the anatase phase structure and interesting surface compositions.X-ray diffraction patterns of the CoS2-carbon/TiO2 composites showed a single and clear anatase phase and the CoS2 structure.Scanning electron microscopy characterization of the texture on the CoS 2-carbon/TiO2 composites showed a homogenous composition.Energy-dispersive X-ray spectra for elemental identification showed the presence of C and Ti with strong Co and S peaks from the CoS2-carbon/TiO2 composites.The composites obtained were also characterized by transmission electron microscopy and UV-Vis spectroscopy.CoS2-carbon/TiO2 composites showed excellent photocatalytic activity for the degradation of methylene blue under visible light irradiation.This was attributed to both photocatalysis on the TiO2 support and charge transfer by the carbon nanomaterial,and the introduction of CoS2 to enhance transfer of photogenerated electrons.     

Backlund transformations and exact solutions for a nonlinear elliptic equation modelling isothermal magnetostatic atmosphere

The equations of magnetostatic equilibria for a plasma in agravitational field are investigated analytically. For equilibriawith an ignorable spatial coordinate, the equations reduce toa single nonlinear elliptic equation for the magnetic potentialu known as the Grad-Shafranov equation. By specifying the arbitraryfunctions in this equation, a Liouville equation is obtained.Bäcklund transformations are described and applied to obtainexact solutions for the Liouville equation modelling an isothermalmagnetostatic atmosphere, in which the current density J isproportional to the exponential of the magnetic potential andmoveover falls off exponentially with distance vertical to thebase with an e-folding distance equal to the gravitational scaleheight.
