Spin-crossover complexes with multistep transitions attract much attention due to their potential applications as multi-switches and for data storage. A four-step spin crossover is observed in the new iron(II)-based cyanometallic guest-free framework compound Fe(2-ethoxypyrazine)2{Ag(CN)2}2 during the transition from the low-spin to the high-spin state. A reverse process occurs in three steps. Crystallographic studies reveal an associated stepwise evolution of the crystal structures. Multiple transitions in the reported complex originate from distinct FeII sites which exist due to the packing of the ligand with a bulky substituent.  相似文献

Scaling theory predicts complete localization in d = 2 in quantum systems belonging to the orthogonal class(i.e., with timereversal symmetry and spin-rotation symmetry). The conductance g behaves as g^exp(-L/l) with system size L and localization length l in the strong disorder limit. However, classical systems can always have metallic states in which Ohm’s law shows a constant g in d=2. We study a two-dimensional quantum percolation model by controlling dephasing effects. The numerical investigation of g aims at simulating a quantum-to-classical percolation evolution. An unexpected metallic phase, where g increases with L, generates immense interest before the system becomes completely classical. Furthermore, the analysis of the scaling plot of g indicates a metal-insulator crossover.  相似文献

Reaction of 1,2-di(tetrazol-2-yl)ethane (ebtz) with Fe(BF4)2⋅6 H2O in different nitriles yields one-dimensional coordination polymers [Fe(ebtz)2(RCN)2](BF4)2nRCN (n=2 for R=CH3 ( 1 ) and n=0 for R=C2H5 ( 2 ) C3H7 ( 3 ), C3H5 ( 4 ), CH2Cl ( 5 )) exhibiting spin crossover (SCO). SCO in 1 and 3 – 5 is complete and occurs above 160 K. In 2 , it is shifted to lower temperatures and is accompanied by wide hysteresis (T1/2=78 K, T1/2=123 K) and proceeds extremely slowly. Isothermal (80 K) time-resolved single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies revealed a complex nature for the HS→LS transition in 2 . An initial, slow stage is associated with shrinkage of polymeric chains and with reduction of volume at 77 % (in relation to the difference between cell volumes VHS−VLS) whereas only 16 % of iron(II) ions change spin state. In the second stage, an abrupt SCO occurs, associated with breathing of the crystal lattice along the direction of the Fe–nitrile bonds, while the nitriles reorient. HS→LS switching triggered by light (808 nm) reveals the coupling of spin state and nitrile orientation. The importance of this coupling was confirmed by studies of [Fe(ebtz)2(C2H5CN/C3H7CN)2](BF4)2 mixed crystals ( 2 a , 2 b ), showing a shift of T1/2 to higher values and narrowing of the hysteresis loop concomitant with an increase of the fraction of butyronitrile. This increase reduces the capability of nitrile molecules to reorient. Density functional theory (DFT) studies of models of 1 – 5 suggest a particular possibility of 2 to adopt a low (140–145°) value of its Fe-N-C(propionitrile) angle.  相似文献

ABSTRACT

Heat capacity of several liquids which demonstrate anomalous behaviour is studied. It is shown that isochoric heat capacity of these liquids shows anomalously high values which is related to smooth structural crossover in these liquids. The highly stable nitrosyl iron(II) mononuclear complex [Fe(bztpen)(NO)](PF6)2 (bztpen=N‐benzyl‐N,N′,N′‐tris(2‐pyridylmethyl)ethylenediamine) displays an S=1/2?S=3/2 spin crossover (SCO) behavior (T1/2=370 K, ΔH=12.48 kJ mol?1, ΔS=33 J K?1 mol?1) stemming from strong magnetic coupling between the NO radical (S=1/2) and thermally interconverted (S=0?S=2) ferrous spin states. The crystal structure of this robust complex has been investigated in the temperature range 120–420 K affording a detailed picture of how the electronic distribution of the t2g–eg orbitals modulates the structure of the {FeNO}7 bond, providing valuable magneto–structural and spectroscopic correlations and DFT analysis.  相似文献

We report on a bistable MEMS device actuated by spin-crossover molecules. The device consists of a freestanding silicon microcantilever with an integrated piezoresistive detection system, which was coated with a 140 nm thick film of the [Fe(HB(tz)3)2] (tz=1,2,4-triazol-1-yl) molecular spin-crossover complex. Switching from the low-spin to the high-spin state of the ferrous ions at 338 K led to a reversible upward bending of the cantilever in agreement with the change in the lattice parameters of the complex. The strong mechanical coupling was also evidenced by the decrease of approximately 66 Hz in the resonance frequency in the high-spin state as well as by the drop in the quality factor around the spin transition.  相似文献

Due to their ability to form stable molecular complexes that have tailor-made properties, terpyridine ligands are of great interest in chemistry and material science. In this regard, we prepared two terpyridine ligands with two different fluorinated phenyl rings on the backbone. The corresponding CoII and FeII complexes were synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray structural analysis, electrochemistry and temperature-dependent SQUID magnetometry. Single crystal X-ray diffraction analyses at 100 K of these complexes revealed Co−N and Fe−N bond lengths that are typical of low spin CoII and FeII centers. The metal centers are coordinated in an octahedral fashion and the fluorinated phenyl rings on the backbone are twisted out of the plane of the terpyridine unit. The complexes were investigated with cyclic voltammetry and UV/Vis-NIR spectroelectrochemistry. All complexes show a reversible oxidation and several reduction processes. Temperature dependent SQUID magnetometry revealed a gradual thermal SCO behavior in two of the complexes, while EPR spectroscopy provided further insights on the electronic structure of the metal complexes, as well as site of reduction.  相似文献

Rare earth elements (REEs) are widely used across different industries due to their exceptional magnetic and electrical properties. In this work, Cupriavidus necator is characterized using dielectrophoretic ultra-high-frequency measurements, typically in MHz range to quantify the properties of cytoplasm in C. necator for its metal uptake/bioaccumulation capacity. Cupriavidus necator, a Gram-negative bacteria strain is exposed to REEs like europium, samarium, and neodymium in this study. Dielectrophoretic crossover frequency experiments were performed on the native C. necator species pre- and post-exposure to the REEs at MHz frequency range. The net conductivity of native C. necator, Cupriavidus europium, Cupriavidus samarium, and Cupriavidus neodymium are 15.95 ± 0.029 μS/cm, 16.15 ± 0.028 μS/cm, 16.05 ± 0.029 μS/cm, 15.61 ± 0.005 μS/cm respectively. The estimated properties of the membrane published by our group are used to develop a microfluidic sorter by modeling and simulation to separate REE absorbed C. necator from the unabsorbed native C. necator species using COMSOL Multiphysics commercial software package v5.5.  相似文献

Polymeric composites constitute an appealing class of materials with applications in various fields. Spin crossover (SCO) coordination complexes are switchable materials with potential use in data storage and sensors. Their incorporation into polymers can be considered an effective method for their wider practical application. In this study, Fe(II) SCO/polylactic acid hybrid polymeric composites have been prepared by film casting. The mononuclear coordination complex [Fe{N(CN)2}2(abpt)2] was incorporated into polylactic acid. The morphological, structural and thermoanalytical characterization of the composite films were performed via scanning electron microscopy (SEM), attenuated total reflectance (ATR/FTIR), Raman spectroscopy and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). In addition, the migration release study (MRS) of the SCO compound from the polymeric matrix into the food simulant 50% v/v water/ethanol solution was also examined via UV/Vis absorption. Of particular interest was the investigation of the SCO behavior of the coordination complex after its incorporation into the polymer matrix; it was accomplished by temperature-dependent micro-Raman spectroscopy. The described attempt could be considered a preparatory step toward the development of SCO-based temperature sensors integrated into food packaging materials.  相似文献

This work presents a detailed study of the photo-induced spin-state dynamics of the photochromic iron(II) complex 1, where the metal ion is in the field of a tripodal hexa-imine ligand with protolysable phenol groups. The nature of the complex’s ground state has been identified as a spin singlet by 1H NMR and steady-state UV/vis spectroscopies, and its distorted octahedral structure was analyzed via crystal structure determination. Sub-picosecond and nanosecond time-resolved laser flash photolysis experiments identify the long-lived quintet state of 1 as the selective product of photoexcitation in the UV/vis spectral region. Thermal barriers of spin-state interconversion as a function of solvent and added base are derived from temperature-dependent rates of transient decay. Ground-state recovery is found to be significantly affected by the solvent and is strongly enhanced, in particular, by base-driven solvolysis of the ligand’s phenol groups. Partial spontaneous deprotonation of the phenolic hydroxyl groups of 1 seems to prevail on metal oxide surfaces, i.e. on alumina. Composite materials, like 1 at Al2O3, that retain the characteristic spectral features of the parent iron(II) complex can be readily obtained by wet impregnation of hydrous alumina with solutions of 1.  相似文献
