Microalgae have been proposed as a promising source for biodiesel production. Focusing on algal strains for biodiesel production, efforts should be made to search new strains. Experiments were carried out to investigate the effects of growth parameters (nutrients, pH, light, aeration and temperature) and the oil percentage of eight algal strains (Chlorella sp., Cladophora sp., Hydrodictylium sp., Oedogonium sp., Oscillatoria sp., Spirogyra sp., Stigeocolonium sp., Ulothrix sp.). Results show that 6.5–7.5 is the optimum pH for the growth of all algal species. Temperature showed a greater variation (25°40°C). Ulothrix sp. gave more biomass productivity and is the most suitable strain for biodiesel production due to higher oil percentage (62%). Least biomass production was observed for Stigeocolonium sp. and least oil content was obtained from Hydrodictylium sp. It was observed that among these eight algal strains for biodiesel production, Ulothrix and Chlorella are the most promising algae species.  相似文献

Abstract

Trillium govanianum Wall. ex D. Don (Melanthiaceae alt. Trilliaceae), is native to the Himalayas. The present study, for the first time, was undertaken to explore the antimicrobial potential, to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values of the methanol extract of the roots of Trillium govanianum and its solid phase extraction (SPE) fractions by using resazurin microtiter assay (REMA) against Gram positive and Gram negative bacterial registered strains and to carry out phytochemical analysis. The remarkable amount of gallic acid equivalent phenolic and quercetin equivalent flavonoid content was manifested by MeOH extract (20.27?±?3.03?mg GAE/g DW and 9.25?±?0.50?mg QE/g DW respectively). The GC/MS analysis revealed the presence saturated and unsaturated components. Considerable level of antibacterial potential against Gram-positive bacteria (MIC: 2.5-0.009?mg/mL) than against Gram-negative bacteria (MIC: 2.5-0.165?mg/mL) were observed. The use of microtiter plates has the advantage of lower cost, fast and quantitative results.  相似文献

The present paper addresses microvascular blood flow with heat and mass transfer in complex wavy microchannel modulated by electroosmosis. Investigation is carried out with joule heating and chemical reaction effects. Further, viscous dissipation is also considered. Using Debye–Huckel, lubrication theory, and long wavelength approximations, analytical solutions of dimensionless boundary value problems are obtained. The impacts of different parameters are examined for temperature and concentration profile. Furthermore, nature of pressure rise is also investigated to analyze the pumping characteristics. A general solution of the equilibrium equations is obtained for a half-space with a fixed boundary and arbitrary but axisymmetric distribution of body forces and body couples in the interior of the half-space. Few particular cases have been investigated in detail. The stresses have been obtained at the boundary and the displacements have been obtained in the interior of the half-space. Numerical results have been displayed graphically.
Zusammenfassung Eine allgemeine lösung für Gleichgewicht eines Halbraums mit festem Rand und einer beliebigen, aber antisymmetrischen Verteilung von Körperkräften und Körpermomenten im Inneren wird gefunden. Einige Spezialfälle wurden ansführlich erforscht. Die Spannungen am Rand und die Verschiebungen im Inneren des Halbraums wurden erhalten. Numerische Resultate wurden graphisch dargestellt.

An increasing trend toward integration of polymers in microelectronics and organic electronics has recently boosted research focusing in metal-polymer interfaces. These two materials differ vastly, with the former forming dense, crystalline, cohesive structures and the latter forming open structures bound together by weak van der Waals forces. As a result, there is dire need to assess their surface features (e.g., roughness) and correlate them with corresponding growth parameters, as metal-polymer interfaces are mainly determined by the preparation process. Here, we report a laboratory-based grazing-incidence small-angle x-ray scattering (GISAXS) study on distinct gold-polymer interfaces fabricated with different growth mechanisms, utilizing in-plane and oblique sputter geometries. GISAXS provided an improved analytic scheme for the buried surface in free-standing 2D gold-polymer nanosheets (with 19% porosity) revealing their fractal structure (Porod slope: ?1.71). Two quantitative approaches (Height-Height Correlation and Power Spectral Density functions) were used to describe rough surfaces characterized by Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) in consort with GISAXS data; different correlation length dependencies on growth time were revealed for gold rough surfaces grown on bare and polymerized Si. The results are considered pertinent to interfacial nanoscience and engineering, enabling statistical data collection from large surface areas, in a fast and nondestructive manner.  相似文献
