Study of the THGEM detector with a reflective CsI photocathode

The THGEM detector without and with a CsI has been tested successfully. The optimal parameters of THGEM have been determined from eight samples. The UV photoelectric effect of the CsI photocathode is observed. The changing tendency related to the extraction efficiency (ε_extr) versus the extraction electric field is measured, and several electric fields influencing the anode current are adjusted to adapt to the THGEM detector with a reflective CsI photocathode.     

Cosmic ray test for a T0 detector

The endcap of time-of-flight (ETOF) detector in BES (Beijing Spectrometer) III is planned to be upgraded by using multi-gap resistive plate chambers (MRPCs) and the designed time resolution of the MRPCs is around 50 ps. Thus a time-zero (T0) detector needs to be built to offer a high quality reference time for the MRPCs beam test. So a T0 detector is built using plastic scintillator tiles (BC420) to couple with four fast phototubes (PMTs, Hamamatsu H6533). The timing properties of the detector is studied by using a cosmic ray test and factors related to the time resolution, such as plastic scintillator size, readout mode and angle effects, are discussed. T0 detector timing resolutions of ～41-62 ps are achieved, which means that the T0 detector can be used in the MRPC beam test.     

Online data quality monitoring system at BESⅢ

The online Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) tool plays an important role in the data recording process of HEP experiments. The BESⅢ DQM collects data from the online data flow, reconstructs them with offline reconstruction software and automatically analyzes the reconstructed data with user-defined algorithms. The DQM software is a scalable distributed system. The monitored results are gathered and displayed in various formats, which provides the shifter with current run information that can be used to identify problems quickly. This paper gives an overview of the DQM system at BESⅢ.     

利用ICCD定位宇宙线来测量探测器时间分辨的方法研究

本研究采用双层150 mm×150 mm闪烁条阵列定位宇宙线的入射和出射位置. 阵列信号光使用波移光纤吸收传输,在ICCD相机前插入前置像增强器,使信号光延迟大于200 ns, 使ICCD可以由外部高速触发信号控制,有效记录随机触发事例.该宇宙线定位系统可以同时多点密集测量 通用探测器测试平台的时间分辨和闪烁光的渡越时间.该新方法与传统时间分辨测量方法相比提高了30倍以上 的效率.实验结果显示:时间探测器的时间分辨好于200 ps,满足通用探测器测试平台的设计要求.     

Experimental studies of THGEM in different Ar/CO_2 mixtures

In this paper, the performance of a type of domestic THGEM (THick Gaseous Electron Multiplier) working in Ar/CO₂ mixtures is reported in detail. This kind of single THGEM can provide a gain range from 100 to 1000, which is very suitable for application in neutron detection. In order to study its basic characteristics as a reference for the development of a THGEM based neutron detector, the counting rate plateau, the energy resolution and the gain of the THGEM have been measured in different Ar/CO₂ mixtures with a variety of electrical fields. For the Ar/CO₂(90%/10%) gas mixture, a wide counting rate plateau is achieved from 720 V to 770 V, with a plateau slope of 2.4%/100 V, and an excellent energy resolution of about 22% is obtained at the 5.9 keV full energy peak of the ⁵⁵Fe X-ray source.     

An extended segment pattern dictionary for a pattern matching tracking algorithm at BESⅢ

A pattern matching based tracking algorithm, named MdcPatRec, is used for the reconstruction of charged tracks in the drift chamber of the BES detector. This paper addresses the shortage of segment finding in the MdcPatRec algorithm. An extended segment construction scheme and the corresponding pattern dictionary are presented. Evaluation with Monte-Carlo and experimental data show that the new method can achieve higher efficiency for low transverse momentum tra     

Simultaneous least squares fitter based on the Lagrange multiplier method

We developed a least squares fitter used for extracting expected physics parameters from the correlated experimental data in high energy physics. This fitter considers the correlations among the observables and handles the nonlinearity using linearization during the χ² minimization. This method can naturally be extended to the analysis with external inputs. By incorporating with Lagrange multipliers, the fitter includes constraints among the measured observables and the parameters of interest. We applied this fitter to the study of the m D⁰-D⁰ mixing parameters as the test-bed based on MC simulation. The test results show that the fitter gives unbiased estimators with correct uncertainties and the approach is credible.     

双层飞行时间探测器(TOF)的性能研究

利用BC408塑料闪烁体直接耦合R2490–05高抗磁光电倍增管,组成双层飞行时间探测器.通过2GeV的π–束流测量,结果表明其本征时间分辨(标准偏差)≤50ps.利用该探测单元组成的飞行时间探测器系统,以其时间性能、结构、技术成熟和价格的优势,可以应用到τ–c工厂的带电粒子鉴别系统上.     

Study of the efficiency of event start time determination at BESⅢ

A method to estimate the efficiency of event start time determination at BESIII is developed.This method estimates the efficiency at the event level by combining the efficiencies of various tracks(e,μ,π,K,p,γ)in a Bayesian way.Efficiencies results and the difference between data and MC at the track level are presented in this paper.For a given physics channel,event start time efficiency and systematic error can be estimated following this method.
