Extremal generalized centralizers in matrix algebras

We describe matrices with extremal generalized centralizers over algebraically closed fields.     

Subdirectly irreducible medial quandles

We describe all subdirectly irreducible medial quandles. We show that they fall within one of four disjoint classes. In particular, in the finite case they are either connected (and therefore Alexander quandles) or reductive. Moreover, we provide a representation of all non-connected subdirectly irreducible medial quandles.     

Maximal Subrings and Covering Numbers of Finite Semisimple Rings

We classify the maximal subrings of the ring of n×n matrices over a finite field, and show that these subrings may be divided into three types. We also describe all of the maximal subrings of a finite semisimple ring, and categorize them into two classes. As an application of these results, we calculate the covering number of a finite semisimple ring.     

A graph-theoretic approach for comparing dimensions of components in simply-graded algebras

Any simple group-grading of a finite dimensional complex algebra induces a natural family of digraphs. We prove that in a digraph without parallel edges, the number of pairs of vertices having a common in-neighbor or a common out-neighbor is at least the number of edges. We deduce that for any simple group-grading, the dimension of the trivial component is maximal.
