Applications of two-sided α-generalized derivations to 3-prime near rings

Let N be a zero symmetric 3-prime right near ring and α:N→N be an endomorphism. In this paper, the notions of two-sided α-(generalized) derivations on N are studied. Some results characterize commutativity of 3-prime near rings are obtained. Examples proving the necessity of the 3-primeness hypothesis are given. Let R be a commutative ring with identity, Nn（R） the matrix algebra consisting of all n × n strictly upper triangular matrices over R. Several types of proper local derivations of Nn（R） （n ≤ 4） are constructed, based on which all local derivations of Nn（R） （n ≤ 4） are characterized when R is a domain.

A cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras

Mainly motivated by Pirashvili's spectral sequences on a Leibniz algebra, a cohomological characterization of Leibniz central extensions of Lie algebras is given. In particular, as applications, we obtain the cohomological version of Gao's main theorem for Kac-Moody algebras and answer a question in an earlier paper by Liu and Hu (2004).

Generalized derivations as Jordan homomorphisms on lie ideals and right ideals

Let R be a prime ring, L a non-central Lie ideal of R and g a non-zero generalized derivation of R. If g acts as a Jordan homomorphism on L, then either g（x） = x for all x ∈ R, or char（R） = 2, R satisfies the standard identity s4（x1, x2, x3, x4）, L is commutative and u2 ∈ Z（R）, for any u C L. We also examine some consequences of this result related to generalized derivations which act as Jordan homomorphisms on the set [I, I], where I is a non-zero right ideal of R.     

Some commutativity criteria for prime rings with differential identities on Jordan ideals

In this article, we present some commutativity theorems for a ring R equipped with a generalized derivation satisfying certain differential identities on Jordan ideals of R. Some related results for prime rings are also discussed. Finally; we provide examples to show that the assumed restrictions are not superfluous.     

Generalized Exponents and Forms

We consider generalized exponents of a finite reflection group acting on a real or complex vector space V. These integers are the degrees in which an irreducible representation of the group occurs in the coinvariant algebra. A basis for each isotypic component arises in a natural way from a basis of invariant generalized forms. We investigate twisted reflection representations (V tensor a linear character) using the theory of semi-invariant differential forms. Springer’s theory of regular numbers gives a formula when the group is generated by dim V reflections. Although our arguments are case-free, we also include explicit data and give a method (using differential operators) for computing semi-invariants and basic derivations. The data give bases for certain isotypic components of the coinvariant algebra.
