Erosion and sediments transport processes have a great impact on industrial structures and on water quality. Despite its limitations, the Saint‐Venant‐Exner system is still (and for sure for some years) widely used in industrial codes to model the bedload sediment transport. In practice, its numerical resolution is mostly handled by a splitting technique that allows a weak coupling between hydraulic and morphodynamic distinct softwares but may suffer from important stability issues. In recent works, many authors proposed alternative methods based on a strong coupling that cure this problem but are not so trivial to implement in an industrial context. In this work, we then pursue 2 objectives. First, we propose a very simple scheme based on an approximate Riemann solver, respecting the strong coupling framework, and we demonstrate its stability and accuracy through a number of numerical test cases. However, second, we reinterpret our scheme as a splitting technique and we extend the purpose to propose what should be the minimal coupling that ensures the stability of the global numerical process in industrial codes, at least, when dealing with collocated finite volume method. The resulting splitting method is, up to our knowledge, the only one for which stability properties are fully demonstrated. 相似文献

Self-healing materials exhibit the ability to repair and to recover their functionality upon damage. Here, we report on an investigation into preparation and characterization of shape memory assisted self-healing coatings. We built on past work in which poly(ε-caprolactone) electrospun fibers were infiltrated with a shape memory epoxy matrix and delve into fabricating and characterizing a coating with the same materials, but employing a blending approach, polymerization induced phase separation. After applying controlled damage, the ability of both coatings to self-heal upon heating was investigated. In both methods, coatings showed excellent thermally induced crack closure and protection against corrosion, with the blend approach being more suitable for large-scale applications given its process simplicity. Two different approaches to the preparation of shape memory-based self-healing coatings were compared for their ability to heal structurally and functionally by heating. These two approaches, electrospinning versus polymerization-induced phase separation were found to feature comparable and quite complete healing, with the latter system offering the advantage of facile processing. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effect of magnetic field strength and orientation on two types of electromagnetically influenced turbulent flows was studied numerically under the Reynolds averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) framework. Previous work (Wilson et al., 2014) used an electromagnetically extended linear eddy-viscosity model, whilst the current paper focuses on the performance of a more advanced Reynolds stress transport type model both with and without electromagnetic modifications proposed by Kenjereš et al. (2004). First, a fully-developed 2D channel flow is considered with a magnetic field imposed in either the wall-normal or streamwise direction. Both forms of the RSM gave good agreement with the DNS data for the wall-normal magnetic field across the range of Hartmann numbers with the additional electromagnetic terms providing a small, but noticeable, difference. For the streamwise magnetic field, where electromagnetic influence is only through the turbulence, the electromagnetically extended RSM performed well at moderate Hartmann numbers but returned laminar flow at the highest Hartmann number considered, contrary to the DNS. The RSM results were, however, significantly better than the previous eddy-viscosity model predictions. The second case is that of unsteady 3D Rayleigh–Bénard convection with a magnetic field imposed in either a horizontal or vertical direction. Results revealed that a significant reorganization of the flow structures is predicted to occur. For a vertically oriented magnetic field, the plume structures increase in number and become thinner and elongated along the magnetic field lines, leading to an increase in thermal mixing within the core in agreement with Hanjalić and Kenjereš (2000). With a horizontal magnetic field, the structures become two-dimensional and a striking realignment of the roll cells’ axes with the magnetic field lines occurs. The results demonstrate the capability of the Reynolds stress transport approach in modelling MHD flows that are relevant to industry and offer potential for those wishing to control levels of turbulence, heat transfer or concentration without recourse to mechanical means. 相似文献

The synthesis, characterisation, and crystal structure determination of the closely related compounds 3,3′‐bi‐(5‐trifluoromethyl‐1,2,4‐oxadiazole) and 5,5′‐bi‐(2‐ trifluoromethyl‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole) are reported. These two compounds are known for their bioactivity; however, in this study they serve as model compounds to evaluate the suitability of the heterocyclic oxadiazole ring system for energetic materials when the fluorine atoms in the exocyclic CF3 groups are substituted successively by nitro groups. Quantum chemical calculations for the bi‐1,3,4‐ oxadiazole derivatives with difluoronitromethyl, fluorodinitromethyl, and trinitromethyl groups have been carried out and predict promising energetic performances for both explosive and propulsive applications. 相似文献

PEG-related adhesives are limited in clinical use because they are easy to swell and cannot support the cell growth.In this study,we produced a series of POSS-modified PEG adhesives with high adhesive strength.Introduction of inorganic hydrophobic POSS units decreased the swelling of the adhesives and enhanced cell adhesion and growth.The in vitro cytotoxicity and in vivo inflammatory response experiments clearly demonstrated that the adhesives were nontoxic and possessed excellent biocompatibility.Compared with the sutured wounds,the adhesive-treated wounds showed an accelerated healing process in wounded skin model of the Bama miniature pig,demonstrating that the POSS-modified PEG adhesive is a promising candidate for wound closure. 相似文献

A two-scale second-moment turbulence closure has been derived based on the weighted integration of the dynamic equation for the covariance spectrum. The goal is to close the Reynolds stress equations with two additional scalar equations that provide separately the scales of the spectral energy transfer and of the turbulence energy dissipation rate. Such a model should provide better prediction of nonequilibrium turbulent flows. The derivation consists of analytical integration of the wave-number-weighted covariance spectrum using a model of the spectral equations with an assumed simple representation of the shape of the energy spectrum. The resulting closure consists of a set of three tensorial equations, one for the Reynolds stress and two for length scale tensors, the latter representing the energy containing- and dissipative eddies respectively. The trace of the two tensor-scale equations leads to a set of two scalar scale parameters. In the equilibrium limit, the model reduces to the standard second-moment single-scale closure. The approach makes it also possible to derive the scale equations in a more systematic manner as compared with the common single-scale and other multi-scale models. The performance of the model in capturing the scale dynamics is illustrated by predictions of several generic homogeneous and inhomogeneous unsteady flows, demonstrating the expected response of the two scale equations. The random excitation of a suspended cable with simultaneous internal resonances is considered. The internal resonances can take place among the first in-plane and the first two out-of-plane modes. The external loading is represented by a wide-band random process. The response statistics are estimated using the Fokker-Planck-Kolmogorov (FPK) equation, together with Gaussian and non-Gaussian closures. Monte Carlo simulation is also used for numerical verification. The unimodal in-plane motion exists in regions away from the internal resonance condition. The mixed mode interaction is manifested within a limited range of internal detuning parameters, depending on the excitation power spectrum density and damping ratios. The Gaussian closure scheme failed to predict bounded solutions of mixed mode interaction. The non-Gaussian closure results are in good agreement with the Monte Carlo simulation. The on-off intermittency of the autoparametrically excited modes is observed in the Monte Carlo simulation over a small range of excitation levels. The influence of the cable parameters, such as damping ratios, sag-to-span ratio, internal detuning parameters, and excitation level on the autoparametric interaction, is studied. It is found that the internal detuning and excitation level are the two main parameters which affect the autoparametric interaction among the three modes. Due to the system's nonlinearity, the response of the three modes is strongly non-Gaussian and the coupled modes experience irregular modulation. 相似文献
