This paper studies conformal biharmonic immersions. We first study the transformations of Jacobi operator and the bitension field under conformal change of metrics. We then obtain an invariant equation for a conformal biharmonic immersion of a surface into Euclidean 3-space. As applications, we construct a two-parameter family of non-minimal conformal biharmonic immersions of cylinder into and some examples of conformal biharmonic immersions of four-dimensional Euclidean space into sphere and hyperbolic space, thus providing many simple examples of proper biharmonic maps with rich geometric meanings. These suggest that there are abundant proper biharmonic maps in the family of conformal immersions. We also explore the relationship between biharmonicity and holomorphicity of conformal immersions of surfaces.   相似文献

A surface in a semi-Riemannian manifold is called marginally trapped if its mean curvature vector field is light-like at each point. In this article, we classify marginally trapped Lorentzian flat surfaces in the pseudo-Euclidean space . As an application, we obtain the complete classification of biharmonic Lorentzian surfaces in with light-like mean curvature vector.  相似文献

We obtain a complete classification of proper biharmonic hypersurfaces with at most three distinct principal curvatures in sphere spaces with arbitrary dimension. Precisely, together with known results of Balmuş‐Montaldo‐Oniciuc, we prove that compact orientable proper biharmonic hypersurfaces with at most three distinct principal curvatures in sphere spaces are either the hypersphere or the Clifford hypersurface with and . Moreover, we also show that there does not exist proper biharmonic hypersurface with at most three distinct principal curvatures in hyperbolic spaces .  相似文献
