An exposition of the topological half of the Grothendieck–Hirzebruch–Riemann–Roch theorem in the fancy language of spectra

We give an informal exposition of pushforwards and orientations in generalized cohomology theories in the language of spectra. The whole note can be seen as an attempt at convincing the reader that Todd classes in Grothendieck–Hirzebruch–Riemann–Roch type formulas are not Devil’s appearances but rather that things just go in the most natural possible way.

Pure annihilation decay of strange beauty meson into two charm heavy mesons

In this study, the heavy to heavy decay of \begin{document}$ B^0_s\rightarrow D^{*+}D^- $\end{document} is evaluated through the factorization approach by using the final state interaction as an effective correction. Under the factorization approach, this decay mode occurs only through the annihilation process, so a small amount is produced. Feynman's rules state that six meson pairs can be assumed for the intermediate states before the final meson pairs are produced. By taking into account the effects of twelve final state interaction diagrams in the calculations, a significant correction is obtained. These effects correct the value of the branching ratio obtained by the pure factorization approach from \begin{document}$ (2.41\pm1.37)\times10^{-5} $\end{document} to \begin{document}$ (8.27\pm2.23)\times10^{-5} $\end{document}. The value obtained for the branching ratio of the \begin{document}$ B^0_s\rightarrow D^{*+}D^- $\end{document} decay is consistent with the experimental results.     

Normal approximation and fourth moment theorems for monochromatic triangles

Given a graph sequence denote by T₃(G_n) the number of monochromatic triangles in a uniformly random coloring of the vertices of G_n with colors. In this paper we prove a central limit theorem (CLT) for T₃(G_n) with explicit error rates, using a quantitative version of the martingale CLT. We then relate this error term to the well-known fourth-moment phenomenon, which, interestingly, holds only when the number of colors satisfies . We also show that the convergence of the fourth moment is necessary to obtain a Gaussian limit for any , which, together with the above result, implies that the fourth-moment condition characterizes the limiting normal distribution of T₃(G_n), whenever . Finally, to illustrate the promise of our approach, we include an alternative proof of the CLT for the number of monochromatic edges, which provides quantitative rates for the results obtained in [7].

A generalization of Eagon–Reiner’s theorem and a characterization of bi-CMt bipartite and chordal graphs

We give a generalization of Eagon-Reiner’s theorem relating Betti numbers of the Stanley-Reisner ideal of a simplicial complex and the CM_t property of its Alexander dual. Then we characterize bi-CM_t bipartite graphs and bi-CM_t chordal graphs. These are generalizations of recent results due to Herzog and Rahimi.     

A new idea to construct the fractal interpolation function

The aim of this paper is to present a new idea to construct the nonlinear fractal interpolation function, in which we exploit the Matkowski and the Rakotch fixed point theorems. Our technique is different from the methods presented in the previous literatures.     

Very weak solutions to elliptic equations with singular convection term

We study Dirichlet problem for a nonlinear equation with a drift term. Despite the presence of the singular convection term, we establish existence and uniqueness of a solution in spaces larger than the natural one.     

Solvability of a class of boundary value problems in the space of convergent sequences

We consider two types of infinite systems of second-order differential equations with boundary conditions in the Banach sequence space c. For each system, sufficient conditions are provided for the existence of solutions. Our approach is based on the use of measure of noncompactness concept and the application of Darbo’s theorem for condensing operators. Some examples are presented to illustrate the obtained results.
