Corners of self-conjugate (s,s + 1)-cores and (s‾,s+1‾)-cores

In this paper, we describe a result on self-conjugate $(s,s+1)$-core partitions with the fixed number of corners. We also define shifted corners of a distinct partition and find formulas for the number of $(\stackrel{￣}{s},\stackrel{￣}{s+1})$-core partitions and the number of $(s,s+1)$-core shifted Young diagrams with the fixed number of shifted corners.

Electrochemical sensing of H2O2 using cobalt oxide modified TiO2 nanotubes

Cobalt oxide (Co₃O₄) modified anatase titanium dioxide nanotubes (ATNTs) have been investigated for the electrochemical sensing of hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂). ATNTs have been synthesized by a two-step anodization process. ATNTs were then modified with Co₃O₄ employing chemical bath deposition method. The structure and morphology of ATNTs and their modification with Co₃O₄ has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction by scanning electron microscopy. H₂O₂ sensing has been studied in 0.1 M PBS solution, by cyclic voltammetry and amperometry. Variation in the peak positions and current densities was observed with addition of H₂O₂ for Co₃O₄ modified ATNTs. Sensitivity and limit of detection improved with modification of ATNTs with Co₃O₄ with precursor concentration up to 0.8 M. However, at higher precursor concentrations sensitivity and limit of detection toward H₂O₂ deteriorated. Co₃O₄ Modified ATNTS using 0.8 M precursor concentration are comparatively more suitable for H₂O₂ sensing applications due to the optimum formation of Co₃O₄/ATNTs heterojunctions.     

The behavior of capillary suspensions at diverse length scales: From single capillary bridges to bulk

Liquid-liquid-solid systems are becoming increasingly common in everyday life with many possible applications. Here, we focus on a special case of such liquid-liquid-solid systems, namely, capillary suspensions. These capillary suspensions originate from particles that form a network based on capillary forces and are typically composed of solids in a bulk liquid with an added secondary liquid. The structure of particle networks based on capillary bridges possesses unique properties compared with networks formed via other attractive interactions where these differences are inherently related to the properties of the capillary bridges, such as bridge breaking and coalescence between adjacent bridges. Thus, to tailor the mechanical properties of capillary suspensions to specific requirements, it is important to understand the influences on different length scales ranging from the dynamics of the bridges with varying external stimuli to the often heterogeneous network structure.
