A cubically convergent Newton-type method under weak conditions

Under weak conditions, we present an iteration formula to improve Newton's method for solving nonlinear equations. The method is free from second derivatives, permitting f^′(x)=0 in some points and per iteration it requires two evaluations of the given function and one evaluation of its derivative. Analysis of convergence demonstrates that the new method is cubically convergent. Some numerical examples illustrate that the algorithm is more efficient and performs better than classical Newton's method.     

Finite volume method for solving a one-dimensional parabolic inverse problem

In this paper, finite volume method is used to solve a one-dimensional parabolic inverse problem with source term and Neumann boundary conditions for the first time. Some advantages of this approach are developing difference schemes and maintaining certain properties of the physics of the problems, especially for the treatment of the source term and the unknown boundary conditions. Numerical results show that our method is more effective.     

Minimum selections and fixed points of set-valued operators in Banach spaces with some uniform convexity

A new continuity theorem of minimum selection is presented for a continuous set-valued operator from a topological space into a Banach space with some uniform convexity. As applications, some problems concerning minimum right inverses for linear operators and minimum fixed points for condensing set-valued nonlinear operators are discussed. Also, the existence of minimum solutions for an integral inclusion is proved.     

An improved strongly sub-feasible SSLE method for optimization problems and numerical experiments

In this paper, the super-linearly and quadratically convergent strong sub-feasible method [J.L. Li, J.B. Jian, A superlinearly and quadratically convergent strongly subfeasible method for nonlinear inequality constrained optimization, OR Transactions, 7 (2) (2003) 21-34] for nonlinear inequality constrained optimization is improved, such that the iterative points can get into the feasible region after a finite number of iterations. As a result, a strict restricted condition can be overcome. Another two contributions of this paper are that a new bidirectional Armijo line search is presented and a lot of numerical comparison results are reported.     

A note on operator probability theory involving numerical ranges

In this note, the relationships between the expectation and variance in operator probability theory and numerical range of operators are considered.     

Darboux transformation and explicit solutions for the integrable sixth-order KdV equation for nonlinear waves

Korteweg-de Vries (KdV)-type equations can describe some physical phenomena in fluids, nonlinear optics, quantum mechanics, plasmas, etc. In this paper, with the aid of symbolic computation, the integrable sixth-order KdV equation is investigated. Darboux transformation (DT) with an arbitrary parameter is presented. Explicit solutions are derived with the DT. Relevant properties are graphically illustrated, which might be helpful to understand some physical processes in fluids, plasmas, optics and quantum mechanics.     

On some new Hilbert-type inequalities

In the present paper we establish some new inequalities similar to extensions of Hilbert’s double-series inequality and give also their integral analogues. Our results provide some new estimates to these types of inequalities.     

Spectrality of a class of self-affine measures with decomposable digit sets

The self-affine measure associated with an expanding matrix and a finite digit set is uniquely determined by the self-affine identity with equal weight.The spectral and non-spectral problems on the selfaffine measures have some surprising connections with a number of areas in mathematics,and have been received much attention in recent years.In the present paper,we shall determine the spectrality and non-spectrality of a class of self-affine measures with decomposable digit sets.We present a method to deal with such case,and clarify the spectrality and non-spectrality of a class of self-affine measures by applying this method.     

退货量依赖销售量和价格的供应链协调性

在假设零售商允许顾客退货且退货量依赖销售量和销售价格的条件下,本文研究了一个制造商和一个零售商组成的供应链的协调问题。研究表明:只有回购与回馈惩罚的联合契约能协调此供应链。最后给出了数值例子,并对主要参数进行了灵敏度分析。     

具有脉冲效应的灰色随机时滞系统的鲁棒稳定性

研究了一类具有脉冲效应和时变时滞的灰色随机系统的鲁棒稳定性问题。在给出了脉冲随机泛函微分系统随机稳定性的条件的基础上,首先利用Lyapunov-KrasoVskii泛函法和灰矩阵的连续矩阵覆盖的分解技术,得到了具有脉冲效应和时变时滞的灰色随机系统的随机鲁棒稳定性判据,进而基于所得的这个随机鲁棒稳定性判据和Dini导数,给出了该系统指数鲁棒稳定性的判据。实例表明,所得判据是有效的和实用的。
