On the block GMRES method with deflated restarting

In this paper, we consider the block-GMRES method with deflated restarting for solving nonsymmetric linear systems with multiple right-hand sides. We modify slightly the restarted block-GMRES method with deflation of eigenvalues proposed by Morgan to obtain a new one. It is shown that the modified method is mathematically equivalent to the Morgan’s original method. However, the error analysis shows the modified version minimizes the numerical errors during a restart and therefore is better suited if the linear systems have to be solved with high precision. Numerical experiments report the effectiveness of the modified method.     

Analyzing the prices of the most expensive sheet iron all over the world: Modeling, prediction and regime change

The private car license plates issued in Shanghai are bestowed the title of “the most expensive sheet iron all over the world”, more expensive than gold. A citizen has to bid in a monthly auction to obtain a license plate for his new private car. We perform statistical analysis to investigate the influence of the minimal price P_min of the bidding winners, the quota of private car license plates, the number of bidders, as well as two external shocks including the legality debate of the auction in 2004 and the auction regime reform in January 2008 on the average price of all bidding winners. It is found that the legality debate of the auction had marginal transient impact on the average price in a short time period. In contrast, the change of the auction rules has significant permanent influence on the average price, which reduces the price by about 3020 yuan Renminbi. It means that the average price exhibits nonlinear behaviors with a regime change. The evolution of the average price is independent of the number of bidders in both regimes. In the early regime before January 2008, the average price was influenced only by the minimal price P_min in the preceding month with a positive correlation. In the current regime since January 2008, the average price is positively correlated with the minimal price and the quota in the preceding month and negatively correlated with the quota in the same month. We test the predictive power of the two models using 2-year and 3-year moving windows and find that the latter outperforms the former. It seems that the auction market becomes more efficient after the auction reform since the prediction error increases.     

On the uniform stress state inside an inclusion of arbitrary shape in a three-phase composite

The stress field inside a two-dimensional arbitrary-shape elastic inclusion bonded through an interphase layer to an infinite elastic matrix subjected to uniform stresses at infinity is analytically studied using the complex variable method in elasticity. Both in-plane and anti-plane shear loading cases are considered. It is shown that the stress field within the inclusion can be uniform and hydrostatic under remote constant in-plane stresses and can be uniform under remote constant anti-plane shear stresses. Both of these uniform stress states can be achieved when the shape of the inclusion, the elastic properties of each phase, and the thickness of the interphase layer are properly designed. Possible non-elliptical shapes of inclusions with uniform hydrostatic stresses induced by in-plane loading are identified and divided into three groups. For each group, two conditions that ensure a uniform hydrostatic stress state are obtained. One condition relates the thickness of the interphase layer to elastic properties of the composite phases, while the other links the remote stresses to geometrical and material parameters of the three-phase composite. Similar conditions are analytically obtained for enabling a uniform stress state inside an arbitrary-shape inclusion in a three-phase composite loaded by remote uniform anti-plane shear stresses.     

弱吸收基底上弱吸收薄膜的光学常数计算方法

 用一种相对简单而又精确的光度法来计算弱吸收基底上弱吸收薄膜的光学常数，为低损耗紫外薄膜的设计与实现提供了理论基础。采用JGS1型熔融石英基底，制备了MgF₂与LaF₃材料的单层膜，获得了JGS1型熔融石英基底及MgF₂与LaF₃薄膜的光学常数色散曲线。结果显示：在200 nm左右处，JGS1型熔融石英基底的吸收已经比较明显，消光系数在10^-8量级，因此，应考虑基底的弱吸收，以提高薄膜光学常数的计算精度。     

螺旋扁管管外蒸汽冷凝双侧强化传热试验研究

为促进螺旋扁管在冷凝换热装置上的应用,对螺旋椭圆管管外蒸汽冷凝工况下的传热特性进行了试验研究。研究结果表明,螺旋椭圆管在强化管内无相变对流传热的同时也可以强化管外冷凝传热。相同工况下,同圆管相比,所用螺旋椭圆扁管的总传热系数高11%-16%,管内传热系数高约18%,管外冷凝传热系数高约9%。并从二次流减薄传热边界层及冷凝表面利于排除冷凝液的角度,分析了螺旋椭圆扁管的双侧强化传热机理。     

Rapid determination of illegal additives chrysoidin and malachite green by surface-enhanced Raman scattering with silanized support based substrate

Silanized support based SERS substrate is applied to detect chrysoidin in Sprite at 0.01 mg/L and malachite green in fish pond water at 0.0001 mg/L. The SERS method is sensitive, cost-effective and convenient, which has great potential in detection of illegal additives and harmful substances.     

Novel dual inhibitors against FP-2 and PfDHFR as potential antimalarial agents: Design,synthesis and biological evaluation

A series of novel 2,4-diaminopyrimidine-modified compounds was designed and synthesized. Compound 14 showed micromolar dual inhibitory effect on both FP-2 and PfDHFR, and potential inhibition to the proliferation of P. falciparum 3D7 strain and chloroquine-resistant P. falciparum Dd2 strain.     

Insight into room-temperature catalytic oxidation of NO by CrO2(110): A DFT study

The first-principles DFT calculations together with microkinetic analysis reveal the complex catalytic mechanism of low-content NO oxidation on CrO₂(110) at room temperature. It quantitatively makes clear that CrO₂(110) can exhibit considerable activity with the Mars-van-Krevelen mechanism preferred, and the nitrate species serves as the key poisoning species.     

The influence of nanoparticle shape on bilateral exocytosis from Caco-2 cells

Nanoparticles are able to be excreted from both apical and basolateral sides after taken up by cells. Compared to nanospheres, nanorods preferred basolateral exocytosis to apical exocytosis.     

Synthesis of 1,8-naphthalimide-based fluorescent nano-probes and their application in pH detection

Fluorescent nano-probes with particle sizes of 20 nm, 120 nm and 300 nm for proton were prepared through click reaction. The photophysical properties of the nano-probes were mainly affected by the particle size.
