An orthogonal test was used to design different mixture ratios of molybdenum disulfide(MoS2), graphite, and SiO2 particles, which were filled with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) composite. MoS2-, graphite-, and SiO2-modified PTFE was obtained by pressing and sintering, and the processing parameters were determined using progressive studies and experiments. The friction and wear properties of different PTFE composites lubricated with natural seawater were analyzed using an MMU-5G wear tester. A laser scanning confocal microscope was employed to examine the morphological characteristics of the worn surface. Moreover, the influence of particle proportions on the tribological property of composites was analyzed. Results show that the addition of SiO2, MoS2, and graphite can increase the bearing capacity, improve the wear resistance, reduce the friction coefficient, and increase the self-lubricating ability of the PTFE matrix.  相似文献

Nonlinear effects such as friction and freeplay on the control surfaces can affect aeroelastic dynamics during flight. In particular, these nonlinearities can induce limit cycle oscillations (LCO), changing the system stability, and because of this it is essential to employ computational methods to predict this type of motion during the aircraft development cycle. In this context, the present article presents a matrix notation for describing the Hénon’s method used to reduce errors when considering piecewise linear nonlinearities in the numerical integration process. In addition, a new coordinate system is used to write the aeroelastic system of equations. The proposal defines a displacement vector with generalized and physical variables to simplify the computational implementation of the Hénon’s technique. Additionally, the article discusses the influence of asymmetric freeplay and friction on the LCO of an airfoil with control surface. The results show that the extended Hénon’s technique provides more accurate LCO predictions, that friction can change the frequency and amplitude of these motions, and the asymmetry of freeplay is important to determine the LCO behavior.  相似文献

Rubber blocks (or springs) are structural components widely used in many applications. Design characteristics of a rubber block under axial loading are an apparent modulus (or compression modulus) and normal and shear stresses on contact surfaces. These are affected by a contact condition of the rubber block in contact with two rigid plates and the shape of the block. The problem of a rubber block bonded to two rigid plates has been solved using various approaches. In contrast, for a rubber block whose one surface is bonded to a rigid plate and the other surface in contact with a frictional surface, there is little work in spite of practical applications. For this contact condition, approximate solutions for rectangular blocks in plane strain and for axi-symmetric discs are derived under the assumption of Coulomb frictional contact. The problem is treated as an extension of the problem of an incompressible rubber block bonded to two rigid plates with one of the plates having a frictional interaction with the rubber block. In the linear range of deformation, finite element analysis and experimental results for rubber blocks with shape factors ranging from 1 to 6 are compared for the validation of analytic results. It is found that friction coefficients play important roles in the design characteristics of the rubber block.  相似文献

We examine a mathematical model that describes a quasistatic adhesive contact between a viscoplastic body and deformable foundation. The material’s behaviour is described by the rate-type constitutive law which involves functions with a non-polynomial growth. The contact is modelled by the normal compliance condition with limited penetration and adhesion, a subdifferential friction condition also depending on adhesion, and the evolution of bonding field is governed by an ordinary differential equation. We present the variational formulation of this problem which is a system of an almost history-dependent variational–hemivariational inequality for the displacement field and an ordinary differential equation for the bonding field. The results on existence and uniqueness of solution to an abstract almost history-dependent inclusion and variational–hemivariational inequality in the reflexive Orlicz–Sobolev space are proved and applied to the adhesive contact problem.  相似文献

In thermodynamic equilibrium, the contact angle is related by Young's equation to the interfacial energies. Unfortunately, it is practically impossible to measure the equilibrium contact angle. When for example placing a drop on a surface its contact angle can assume any value between the advancing Θa and receding Θr contact angles, depending on how the drop is placed. Θa − Θr is called contact angle hysteresis. Contact angle hysteresis is essential for our daily life because it provides friction to drops. Many applications, such as coating, painting, flotation, would not be possible without contact angle hysteresis. Contact angle hysteresis is caused by the nanoscopic structure of the surfaces. Here, we review our current understanding of contact angle hysteresis with a focus on water as the liquid. We describe appropriate methods to measure it, discuss the causes of contact angle hysteresis, and describe the preparation of surfaces with low contact angle hysteresis.  相似文献

The generation of friction drag in turbulent duct flows has direct connection with statistical quantities and corresponding turbulence dynamics in the duct cross-section. In this study, we generalize the RD identity (Renard and Deck, 2016) to a ‘two-dimensional’ form which we exploit to decompose the mean friction drag in turbulent square-duct flows into contributions associated with viscosity, turbulence and cross-stream convection. The friction Reynolds number of the duct flows ranges from 220 to 2000. The scaling, spatial distribution and local normalization of the contributions to friction are investigated and compared with those in pipe and channel flows. As in other canonical flows, we find logarithmic growth of the turbulent contribution in contrast to the viscous one, the former thus becoming dominant at high enough Reynolds numbers. Whereas cross-stream convection has no net effect on friction, its contribution may be locally comparable to the other two, hence may be responsible for redistribution of friction along the duct perimeter.  相似文献

Pressure drop and liquid hold-up are two very important fluid flow parameters in design and control of multiphase flow pipelines. Friction factors play an important role in the accurate calculation of pressure drop. Various empirical and semi-empirical closure relations exist in the literature to calculate the liquid-wall, gas-wall and interfacial friction in two-phase pipe flow. However most of them are empirical correlations found under special experimental conditions. In this paper by modification of a friction model available in the literature, an improved semiempirical model is proposed. The proposed model is incorporated in the two-fluid correlations under equilibrium conditions and solved. Pressure gradient and velocity profiles are validated against experimental data. Using the improved model, the pressure gradient deviation from experiments diminishes by about 3%; the no-slip condition at the interface is satisfied and the velocity profile is predicted in better agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

This work shows a successful example of coupling of theory and experiment to study the tribology of bubble rubbing on solid surface. Such kind of investigation is reported for the first time in the literature. A theory about wetting film intercalated between bubble and moving solid surface was developed, thus deriving the non-linear evolution differential equation which accounted for the friction slip coefficient at the solid surface. The stationary 3D film thickness profile, which appears to be a solution of the differential equation, for each particular speed of motion of the solid surface was derived by means of special procedure and unique interferometric experimental setup. This allowed us to determine the 3D map of the lift pressure within the wetting film, the friction force per unit area and the friction coefficient of rubbing at different speeds of motion of the solid surface. Thus, we observed interesting tribological details about the rubbing of the bubble on the solid surface like for example:  相似文献

Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) rubber emerges as a dominant elastomer for major engineering applications like automobiles, constructions, electric and electronic industries and many more. The major engineering properties of EPDM are its outstanding heat, ozone and weather resistance ability. The resistance to polar substances and steam is also good. EPDM rubber has a common use as seals in automobiles. In the present work friction and sliding wear behaviors of ethylene propylene diene monomer rubbers (EPDM) of different hardness have been studied against steel counterpart under dry working condition. Different hardness of EPDM have been achieved by adding different proportion (parts per hundred) of carbon black (CB) content with the main ingredients of EPDM. Tribo-testing has been carried out in a multi tribo-tester (Ducom, India). EPDM rubber of different hardness like 55 Å, 70 Å and 85 Å has been slid against EN-8 stainless steel roller of the tester. Experiments have been conducted with different rotational speeds of the wheel at a constant load of 25N for a constant duration of 900 s. The coefficient of friction (COF), mass loss and wear of EPDM rubbers have been determined from the test data. The worn surface morphology has also been studied using scanning electron microscope (SEM) and concluded accordingly.Present experimental work attempts to highlight some important tribo-characteristics of an indigenous EPDM rubber as well as to shed light on various possible areas of further research works.  相似文献
